Make America Gay Again (a Clexa AU)

As the deeply closeted daughter of wingnut Republican state senator Titus Woods, Lexa is forced to maintain a staid, conservative image, presenting herself as an inscrutable paragon of (hetero) virtue so as not to jeopardise his re-election chances with the Tea Party faithful. 

Under duress from her ruthlessly ambitious stepmother, Nia, Lexa follows him dutifully on the campaign trail until one fateful day she has a run-in with a beautiful blonde activist amongst those fiercely protesting her father’s abysmal voting record on LGBTQ+ rights. 

When their eyes meet across the sea of placards and raised fists, Lexa’s whole world tilts off its axis. 

Then she gets pelted with eggs.
