While thinking about songs I thought that could never be adequately covered, here's another tune.
Jim Morrison was one of the most brilliant people to ever grace this planet with his presence. The Doors are one of my favorite bands and I've never really liked any Doors covers. The Doors don't really fit into the genres I listen to mostly now, but every now and then at home I like to put one of their albums on to chill out (guilty pleasure?)
This song, psychedelic, tidal, a building urgency... perfect.
Then Otep comes along and carefully reconstructs it - THIS gives me goosebumps and I LOVE IT!  You can tell that Otep has a deep respect for Jim's work, she's nailed the song perfectly - NAILED IT!

There's a few songs that I thought could never be adequately covered - the original was perfect! Having said that... check out Breed 77 with their cover of The Cranberries classic - Zombie!
I think you'll agree this review of the original really does the song justice - I totally rate this!

Ok... so who doesn't like a good cover? Goodnight Nurse have taken this pop tune, and reworked it into an awesome tune! Milkshakes bring all the boys to the yard....

The Dirty Youth is a British rock band from South Wales. Heavy riffs, explosive pace, great lyrics - what's not to love about this band? Danni Monroe's vocals over a pretty tight instrumental effort makes for great listening, and "la la la la lets get drunk!!!" LOVE IT!

From Music Feeds:
For those anxious about how their Soundwave experience will be affected by clashes, the time for complaints is nigh. Promoter AJ Maddah has indicated we could see timetables for Soundwave 2015 as soon as this Friday.
In response to a Twitter follower asking “time tables coming out soon?“, Maddah last night said to expect timetables on Friday. He had indicated on Sunday that they would only be draft timetables and would be “subject to change”. Time will tell.
Maddah has previously delivered draft set times early, via his overactive Twitter account, in order to help fans plan their day. Finalised official timetables were then delivered at a later date.
We already know a little about what to expect on any form of Soundwave timetable. Bands have been broken down into four tiers: headliners will have 90-100 min sets, “top bands” get 70 mins, “middle bands” get 60 mins, then “small/new bands” will have 40 mins. Although not an official headliner, Judas Priest are confirmed to play a headliner-length set.
The news comes after the festival’s complete day lineups were released, splitting some 24 bands between individual days on the festival’s new two-day format. The promoter had previously said that timetables would be coming some time around Christmas or New Year, pending approval from bands.
Fans are also expecting the addition of another “brand-new supergroup” to the 2015 lineup, though it is not known when this will be announced.

So... is it bad to admit I've not been following Killer Be Killed? Curiosity peaked when I kept seeing mentions of this "super group" fly pass on Facebook, so I checked it out.
Snakes of Jehova... I find it more amusing than I probably should (inside joke) but anyways - this is a fucking wicked tune I think you all should check out!

THE BEARDS - If Your Dad Doesn't Have a Beard, You've Got Two Mums
This is a funny and awesome tune. If you're not singing along by the end of it there's something wrong with you. That is all!

Dropbears is a post-hardcore band from Perth Australia. I don't really know much about them, but bought the album because of their name. Dropbears are awesome. Doesn't matter if I don't know much about em, I know I like their sound :)

This remains one of my favorite tunes.... not really news anymore but Hatchet Dawn went into and indefinite hiatus in October 2013. Boo!
From their website posted Oct 4, 2013:
"After 4 years of active full time pursuit HATCHET DAWN will go into an indefinite hiatus as current members BILLIE-JADE and HOWSIE NOISE will release new music and tour a new band by the name of DIAMOND NOIR founded in LA with producer Logan Mader (ex Machine Head/Soulfly) during May this year."
Have checked out Diamond Noir on YouTube, their tune "Monsters" was posted about 6 months ago. Have to say, sounds promising but I love love LOVE this Hatchet Dawn tune Dark Symmetry!

To begin with I didn't like Trivium... though didn't *not* like them either - kinda ambivalent if you know what I mean. After seeing them live though, it's different. I get it now. If you don't, then do yourself a favor and check em out when they next swing by your neighborhood!
In Waves at max volume.... yeah now THAT's the shit right there! Whoop whoop!

Hail Ming - my fav off The Dixie Dead - I saw Wednesday 13 live Halloween night in 2013, *before* I realized they had released a more recent album so wasn't expecting THIS!!! Have to say, this tune LIVE is MASSIVE and listening to it on YouTube doesn't even do it justice... tucking this one away as a treasured memory!

From YouTube:
Rising from the depths of Australia's promising underground metal scene, dark industrial metal outfit WITCHGRINDER are taking the country by storm.
Taking their cues from 80's and 90's era of industrial metal. The monsters WITCHGRINDER derived there songs from the classic horror/sci-fi stories that make your skin crawl and your spine tingle.
Blending infectious riffs, powerhouse drumming and catchy structures, with blood curdling screams and tortured growls, WITCHGRINDER have been terrorising audiences around the country with their dominant and vigorous live performances, during extensive touring 2010 of their debut single "Trioxin 2-4-5" (Recorded Bohdan Dower- Melb, Mastered Peter In de Betou- Sweden) and the 2013 release of their full length album "The Demon Calling" (Recorded and Mixed Sam Johnston - Melb, Mastered Alan Douches- New York) WITCHGRINDER have become the industrial metal heavy weights of Australia.
Saw these guys supporting Wednesday 13 in Sydney Australia on Oct 31 2013 - Halloween!!! Very fitting... to be honest I went to see Witchgrinder rather than Wednesday 13 but wasn't aware of Wednesday 13's new album "The Dixie Dead" at the time, so was very pleasantly surprised it was one massive night and both Witchgrinder and Wednesday 13 were amazing!
Saw the set, bought the album, can happily listen to it over and over.... you can get yours at:

I can still remember seeing these guys on tour in Australia in 1997, and still feel the same "i cant fucking wait!" anticipation to see them again in 2015. Picked this tune to share as it's iconic, a great representation of Fear Factory and even today, the sound hasn't changed that much and can recognize all of their stuff as very Fear Factory - LOVE it!

Soundwave 2014 - behind the scenes with Five Finger Death Punch. I was there at the festival in the crowd there with that circle that was going on in the mosh pit in this interview, and rate their performance right up there as probably the best of the day. I like seeing what these guys get up to off stage, always is entertaining! What this *doesn't* show is at the festival Ivan getting off the stage to wander the barriers and greet the fans during "Bad Company" - but he doesn't stop with that, he gets over the barrier to greet the wheelchair-bound fans individually too - incredible tunage and awesome bunch of blokes, FFDP FTW
