Cazador was a disappointing Act III villain for me. He looked a little too much like a poor man's Strahd for my tastes, and I wanted to play around with a design that ran in the opposite direction. Although, that being said, in this reimagining he does take a page out of Strahd's book: I wanted him to be more suave, composed, and self-assured enough to be willing to chat, like a cat that wants to play with its scampering food.

I'm gonna drop my boy Cassian here: (pictures are at the beginning and around the end of my plot timeline... Also the lore is hella long even as condensed as it is here, so you've been warned)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cassian doesn't have the best childhood, his mother was an alcoholic and his father was rarely around and gambled a lot. He's known about his affinity for magic at a young age and used it a lot for petty theft and grievances when he was in his early teens.
When he's 20, he joins what's essentially a magic police force (or the Magus Institute as I call it), and a year later he meets Rolan, one of the few elven officers in the Institute.
I'll try to keep the majority of the political plot condensed, but there's a certain political faction of elves who want to gain complete authority over the government because they believe themselves to be superior over the other races due to their long life spans (up to 800 years in some cases). They value tradition and being the only one's allowed jurisdiction over magic and rituals.
Both Rolan and Cassian are sent on a mission to gather information on a rising group of elves under this political faction with rumours buzzing around a possible uprising.
Turns out there's an entire ritual being conducted containing the blood and death of an Old God, and the redirection of the flow of magic so that no other races can use magic.
At this point, both Cassian and Rolan have officially gotten into a relationship with each other. After sending their findings back to the Institute, Rolan discovers a way to cancel the ritual, but only if he makes a pact with another old God (or kill it, but there's no telling what damage that could cause). Cassian is against this because there's no telling what price Rolan would have to pay.
Not to mention the fact that he has serious abandonment issues and trouble conveying his emotions, which is a main reason behind a lot of his actions.
When Rolan eventually summons the Moon God, Sin. Sin, as a character dislikes getting caught up in mortal affairs but is nearly swayed by Rolan's words until Cassian attempts to destroy her instead because he's terrified of what could happen to Rolan if he let him go through with the plan.
Sin leaves, disappointed and unwilling to negotiate any further. Which leaves the elven faction to complete their ritual and usurp the government.
Rolan refuses to speak to Cassian after this is over, but Cassian still tries to rectify his mistake by finding ways to summon another God. All the rest of the races still have magic at this time, but only in short, limited supply; once they use what they have, there's no getting it back.
Cassian eventually finds incredibly ancient texts mentioning the Sun God and different realms. After nearly a year he finally discovers how to get into this realm and finds the Sun God, Freyr, who is particularly amenable to making a pact, but only if Cassian passes his trials.
Time moves more slowly in this realm, and the very last trial Cassian has to face is ruling over the realm's kingdom for a century. In the end, Rolan arrives in the realm searching for Cassian and trying to bring him back.
It turns out that Rolan had made another deal with the Moon God to stop Cassian from making a deal with the Sun God. By the time Rolan actually finds Cassian it's too late.
The Sun God turns out to have been trapped in that realm by his sister, the Moon God. Freyr isn't necessarily an evil character, he just gets too caught up in mortal affairs and picks favourites (a.k.a Cassian). He nearly ruined the mortal realm before Sin had imprisoned him before, which was why she had tried to stop him from escaping again and possibly doing it again.
After heading back to the normal world with the powers given to him by a literal God, Cassian burns down the elven regime and basically has his own little villain spiral and tries to become another tyrant over the country. Rolan talks him out of it, and things are just kind of open-ended after that cause I haven't really thought of an ending that I like just yet.
But, uh, there you have it. The uber-long life story of my OC.
HEY EVERYONE!
I want you to tell me your most FUCKED UP OC. That’s right, give me aaaaaallllllllll the details—I want to know the TRAUMA, the CAUSES, and even the HORRORS! I want to know WHY they’re so fucked up. WHEN their downward spiral started (in full detail, of course). And HOW this fucked them up and how they are now. In fact, you could even provide a drawing/photo of your character as well! So go ahead—blow up my tumblr >:)
EDIT: I am open to DMs, asks, comments, and reblogs about your wonderfully twisted characters!
