Bro i-- did you seriously just say that the WRITERS OF THE CANON SADNESS THEMSELVES are writing sadness out of character because she fought joy????? 😭😭😭😭😭 Someone can be sad and still be able to fight someone, not everything aligns with your worldview.
funny bc this exact same thing happened to papyrus from undertale. people called him fighting ooc. Like guys. You dont know the character more than the writers themselves, and being nice doesnt mean you cant fight.
Films I rewatched during work today - 6/9/2023
Logan - This just keeps me great company, and I was craving Hugh’s presence this morning for some reason.
Inside Out - Haven’t seen this in a while and wanted to re-see certain heartwarming scenes (Bing Bong made me cry again!). I forgot how annoying Sadness and sometimes Joy is. Sadness would do something for no rhyme or reason, apologize, and then do it again. Then she tries to fight Joy, which is very out of character. Joy’s self-important ass just won’t let Riley be who she is in the moment, she MUST make her happy ALL the time. Fuck me, I understand that all of that was for conflict but did they have to make them so problematic and inconsistent? Lastly, I didn’t notice this before but I think it’s funny that the main emotion in men is Anger, in women is Sadness and in children is Joy. Says a ton.
Tar - I’m just always rewatching this. It’s comforting.
**I rewatched Anomalisa too, but that doesn’t count because I hadn’t started work yet. I was craving Kaufman this morning too. I finally learned what it’s really about: a disorder/syndrome called Fregoli. The MC actually stays at a hotel named Fregoli. I just thought it was another bizarre thing Kaufman came up with but apparently people suffer from this depressive disorder. You definitely see the similarities with his other films. I also noticed that it isn’t just the same voices, it’s the same face, and you see the very moment when Lisa’s face changes. It’s frightening. I never noticed on my previous views of this film. This is why I rewatch films I like.
