Hello!!! How are you, writer? I have a headcanon: Levi likes Hange's whole body, but her legs drive him crazy! Could you use your talent to write a modern au with this? Maybe a paragraph... \(*-*)/
Style (inspired by Taylor Swift's lyrics)
cw: smut, nsfw
Tumblr media
They say bankers never go out of style. Ever since Hange wore that tight pencil skirt with a slit so high he could see her legs going on for days, Levi has had an inkling of what drives him crazy nowadays.
"Been a while," Levi tells her the moment he pulls her in for a kiss once Hange enters his apartment. It's been pristine and well-kept, everything in place until she came along. Which, perhaps, is enough of a metaphor for his life as it is.
Hange chuckles, long hair slicked back in a messy ponytail. "Can't stop thinking 'bout you and I."
Perhaps there really is something about high-rise penthouses and crisp suits when you close a million-dollar deal with a coworker. And maybe sleeping with them also does add to the equation. Because a bath after an expensive homemade steak dinner hits close to home. Levi can tell that Hange was having none of the bullshit excuses that an investment banker like him would make. He'd clear up his schedule for tonight if it meant all the world to him. A few marks from her lipstick plus some love bites on his shoulder were already enough for him to know it was worth calling out for the evening. Damned be his job, he tells himself. Equity multiples and bullish stocks can wait for later.
With one hand, he feels the underside of her thigh and yanks it up to his hip. Hange hums, not daring to break their kiss. A little more push and then they're all over the carpeted floor, making out like there's nothing better to do. Whenever he pulls away from her mouth, Hange only kisses back with an intensity so fierce they come back each time they go crashing down.
He stops midway while he's planting light trails on Hange's thigh. "What?"
That James Dean daydream look in his eyes can make anyone melt right there and then.
"Didn't know you have a thing for my legs, Mister Ackerman."
There's a click of his tongue, then he smiles. It's rare. "Sorry, can't help it."
*
They take breaks every now and then, one mindless fuck after another, clothes strewn over the floor, and Levi's having the best night of his life. Another pour of the chardonnay, another clinking toast, then more breathless kisses. His breath lingers on her nape as he undoes the sash of her robe, but Hange's not letting him go any further without him relenting to her request.
"Play something for me," Hange insists, toe pointing towards the grand piano in the corner. He obliges and sits on the bench, putting up the fallboard to reveal the black and white keys. After she downs her drink, Hange follows and leans against the soundboard, eager to listen.
He starts a song.
It's Chopin's Nocturne, one note after another, the syncopation filling their ears. A glissando, then a minor turn of the keys. His eyebrows knit together in an attempt to remember the rest of the notes. It's been a while since he last played. Meanwhile, Hange is tracing the rim of her wine glass seductively while she's listening and Levi knows this is a ploy, another temptation of its kind.
He frowns, hands still playing on the keys. "Are you trying to tease me?"
There's the legato, the andante of the first measure. Outside the window of his apartment, the city lights glisten like champagne spirits in their drink.
"What do you think?"
Then Hange inches closer to him and places her foot on the bench. Her robe drapes to the side, revealing her flawless calf. It's enough to make him finally stop.
"Alright, you win this time," he says, song unfinished, his full attention to her a devotion on its own. In one swift motion, Levi hikes her up on the piano, the back of her legs hitting the cold ivory keys. He pushes up the hem of her robe, kissing her kneecaps going up to her hips, and this time, Hange lets him. When he digs his fingers tighter around her legs, she can't help it---wine glass forgotten, another kind of music escaping from her lips. She knows bankers like them have their own style indeed.

Chapter 3 : Loyal & Brave
Moblit and Hange noticed that they were holding their breath after their registration. They can now breathe easily after being shown to tent number 4, which they would consider as their temporary home in the remainder of their training. There are 21 tents inside the camp including the senior officers’ tent. About 10 recruits would be staying on each tent.
This is the very definition of ‘lack of privacy’ and invading of personal spaces. Luckily, they were the first ones to come inside. There are 10 single-sized beds inside the large tent. When you enter, there would be 5 beds on the left and 5 beds on the right. They have the privilege to choose which bed they could sleep on. Moblit advised her to take the last bed away from the tent’s entrance to have her next to the wall and could create a makeshift curtain where she could change her clothes, for her own privacy. She spread all her belongings on the bed, marking it as hers.
There is a window-like flap just beside where her bed is situated. When she opened the flap, she can peek on what is happening outside. She saw that it is the tent of the senior scout officers that is adjacent to their own. The two blondes she met earlier, and Levi seems to be staying on that tent. She is not wrong. Just around the time she was about to turn back, she caught a glimpse of Levi just sitting there. Looking glum and scowling into nothingness.
She was reminded of the first and last time they met. That was about 15 years ago. She was a clumsy little girl, spilling the tea on what Levi claimed to be his favorite cravat. She never forgot his scowling face since that day. Half of her was praying that he has forgotten about her and that incident, and half of her hoping that he would somehow remember.
When the sun started to set, every one of them were called to march and report to the center of the camp. She was so lost in her thoughts that she barely noticed that there are 8 other recruits lounging on each of the earlier empty beds.
There is a blonde guy, who she heard was being called Armin. He is animatedly talking to Eren Yeager. She knows about that Yeager guy that Mikasa is matched to, because her friend could not stop talking about him. He had been Mikasa’s longtime crush, though she doubts he even noticed her.
There is that thin, black-haired guy silently listening to the talking muscular, blonde dude. “Ugh. Another blonde to remember”. She mentally took note.
There is also that almost bald-looking guy who seems to be planning on pulling a prank to the horse-faced guy who is snoring just one bed away from him. Finally, there are two other guys to which Moblit is talking to. “Well, at least someone made a friend.” She smiled at the three guys that are starting to get-to-know each other. She was finally introduced to the guys whose names were Keiji and Abel.
The 10 of them finally headed out on a single-file, and they voted her to be on front because she is the tallest, and they could hide behind her. After a lot of shouting, pushing and pulling of arms— she agreed to be on front. This is the first time she regrets being a tall-ass person on her age.
~ ~ ~
They were greeted by a large, open space where everybody could practice combat skills. In front of them were the five veterans. They were introduced as Commander Erwin Smith, the blue-eyed blonde earlier. Miche Zacharias, the sniffing blonde. Levi Ackerman, the strong one. Darius Zackley, the head of military affairs, who is just visiting over for the orientation. Finally the last person to be introduced is Keith Shadis, who seemed to be the one who will head all the trainings that will take place.
Darius Zackley wasted no time in announcing all the house rules. Hanji had nothing to worry, she has no plans on breaking them. She was just taken aback by the punishment of each violation. She was shaken to the core and only caught few phrases.
“Stealing, penalty death.
Insubordination, penalty expulsion.
Dishonesty, depending on which level ranges from expulsion to death.”
Hange already made it here. “I can make it.” She strongly urged herself. She noticed that she was clenching her fist too tightly, that her knuckles were almost turning white.
“Before we proceed to dinner, always remember that we stand by these virtues: loyal, brave and true. Engrave that in your mind and heart! You are all dismissed” Zackley’s voice was ringing on her ear and she caught Levi’s eyes. His eyebrows were furrowed, and his piercing stares makes her think that he could see through all her disguise.
“Well that was inspirational.” She jokingly told Eren who is seriously listening to the announcement. He just nods at her.
Before everyone headed to the dining area, Erwin shouted another command “Eat and rest well tonight, for tomorrow we will start to hustle.”
~ ~ ~
At dinner time, the loud voices of the recruits could be heard. Moblit sat beside her and pushed the food towards her as if he is a mom reminding her to eat. “For my sake. Please eat. How can you even protect me if you would faint from hunger?”
Hange just gave Moblit a nod and started eating her meal. “Moblit, do you think I can do this?”
“Now would not be the perfect time to backdown Hange.” Moblit is right. If she will be caught, her friend would also suffer. She promised him that she will be the one to protect him, but he is the one doing an extra-mile just to make sure she is okay.
She has to fake it until she makes it until the end. Loyal and brave. At least for now she is loyal and brave. She will just think about being true later.

Chapter 2
Hange saw a sulking Moblit feeding their family’s horse. He smiled at her, but she noticed that this smile does not reach his eyes. She remembered, Moblit is the only son to a widow and he got 2 younger sisters. And to conclude, Moblit will be the one to be sent into war. She just gave a sad smile to her best friend.
They sat quietly beside the river thinking. “I am scared, Hange. What if I will not be returning home again?” She does not know what to answer. “I was not born for war. I was born to create sketches and to study and commit myself following you and our friends around.” He continued.
“Do not say that. You learned greatly from me on our trainings in the basement, right?” And they both laughed at the memory of her mom’s face when they caught them yesterday.
“I have a plan.” Hange started and began to show a menacing smile.
“Oh not again Hange. Each time you have a plan, we always get our butts whipped by our parents.” Moblit groaned upon hearing them.
“Come on Moblit. You know I can take you on a combat, a swordfight, archery and win. So here’s the proposition. I go in behalf of my dad. I go with you. I will pretend to be a guy. Of course they won’t need to know. I could assure dad’s safety, and I could protect you.” Hange smiled much wilder after the proposition.
“Oh Hange!!! This is dishonor. Dishonor to you, Dishonor to your family. Dishonor to me. Dishonor to your cow.” Moblit said frantically.
“Oh do not be such a drama queen, Moblit! And did you say I will dishonor our cow?!” Hange cannot even stop herself from laughing so hard now.
“You know I can never say no to you, Hange. You are abusing my kindness. But, friends forever, right? So, how are we gonna do this?” Moblit finally giving up on convincing Hange to just stay because he knows it is a lost cause.
The sun has not yet risen when Hange stole his dad’s horse, armor, sword, and invitation. Maybe it was because of the chest binder that she is wearing that she looked at her family peacefully sleeping, with a heavy heart. They would wake up tomorrow without her. She will be with Moblit. They will be on the training camp. She just prays that this war would be magically over soon and she could have peace and return to her family, that if they would still welcome her with open arms. She met Moblit at the edge of town and they checked the things they had brought, making sure she brought enough binders for her chest. Moblit could not believe that he agreed with her childhood friend, and he cannot even believe his eyes when he saw her. Her long-brown hair was briskly cut and it is unevenly resting just above her shoulders. When she reached him, she tightly-tied what remains of her hair on a slightly loose ponytail. Thanks to her features, she will not even be mistaken as a woman.
“I will prove you all that women can fight. That we have a say in this world, too.” She remembered her friends that have so much passion in martial arts. They do not deserve to just be kept at home. This is for them. For Mikasa, Annie, Sasha, and Hitch who had so much fire in them, their light should never be dimmed by how the world perceives our gender. She finally thought. And soon they started their long journey to the unknown path, called their “future”.
The sun is at its zenith when they finally reached the training camp. It reeks of sweat, mud, and blood. “Are you ready Hange?” Moblit whispered. “When are we even ready?!” She just answered. They talked about keeping her name as it is, thanks to his dad, she was given a gender-neutral name.
They fell in line to register their names on the officer’s desk, and she was shocked to see that it was Levi who is assigned in the registration of new recruits. She felt her heart banging loudly as if she was about to get caught in her disguise. “He does not know you. He does not remember you.” She kept thinking this over and over when she stepped on a foot of a tall, blonde guy, who sniffed her weirdly.
“Something smells weird from you.” The guy told her. He punched the guy out of shock and just to show him that she is not the type to be intimidated by them. He fell flat on the ground. Moblit was about to swing his fist when he heard a voice “Zacharias! What the hell is this about?” It was coming from another blonde guy, with a sea of blue eyes, and behind him was Levi himself.
“Well I was just trying to greet the new recruits.” The guy called Zacharias exclaimed defensively.
“By sniffing them, most likely.” Another blonde guy emerged behind the lines. And he knows this guy. This is Zeke Yeager, the older brother of Mikasa’s match. “And why the hell is this place full of blonde people?! Is this a place where only blondes can survive?” Hange began to scream internally.
“What the heck are you doing here Yeager, I thought you were assigned in another camp?!” Levi spat with distaste.
“Chill Ackerboy, I just brought in my younger bro. Just to be sure he aint lost.” Zeke replied with a hint of mischief.
“You. Who are you? You are next in line. You have the ivitation and royal decree?” Levi pointedly spoke to Hange, not minding the three bickering tall blondes.
Hange hesitantly handed the scroll and quietly wrote her name on the paper that Levi handed her. He was looking intently at her writing, and this does not stop the shaking of her hands.
“You look familiar. Hm. Zoe?” Levi put his hand under his chin and seems to be thinking. This guy hauntingly looks like the girl who spilled his tea when they were at his cousin’s house. The shape of the nose, the color of the hair, and the identical color of their eyes.
“Hange Zoe, Sir.” Hange saluted him with hands on her chest.
“I did not know that the Veteran Zoe had a son. It was his daughters that I knew of.” Levi monotonously said, and kept all other thoughts behind his mind. Maybe because they are siblings that’s why they eerily looked too alike.
Moblit was a bit nervous upon hearing them. He was about to get beheaded for dishonor. He can never go home and it is just his first day. He absentmindedly began biting his nails.
“Then. You did not know me.” It was the safest reply Hange could say.
“I guess you would be my future brother-in-law, if we survive this war.” Levi replied glumly and reluctantly responded to her salute.

Chapter 1
After relentlessly talking her out into trying to be matched again, she finally agreed with her mom. They went to the matchmaker earlier to find a “suitable” man for her. She made a deal with her mom, of course, that in return she could hang out with her friends on their basement to practice “embroidery”.
Her mom happily obliged with one condition “act decently in front of the matchmaker”. And their visit was a little less disastrous than the previous one, at the very least she held her laughter all throughout the session, despite the fact that the matchmaker is a already a clown without even trying to be one.
After returning from their matchmaker ‘friend’, she met with Annie, Mikasa, Sasha, Moblit and Hitch at their basement to embroider, or to practice poise and elegance. Little did her mom know that they were practicing sword-fighting and martial arts just below their parents’ noses. Practicing such things are illegal for the community’s females. You will be whipped publicly if you are caught training other people and be marked as a rebel to the government.
They could not stop their meetings upon seeing her friends’ improvement from day to day. Sasha has been good at archery, Annie and Hitch are good at hand to hand combat, Mikasa is good at sword-fight, and Moblit would take note and sketch their progress. As a whole, they handle each of their wooden swords uniquely, all of them seems to make the swords part of their own body.
Mikasa and Annie was in between a tough hand to hand combat. They are at par with each other in strength, no one wants to give up on this round, while Sasha is still on her knees panting after a sword-fight with Hitch. Normally, they are being left undisturbed by Mrs. Zoe, but they were distracted by the clattering of spoons and shattering of porcelain. It was her mom, her mouth is in between shock and horror. She could see fire and rage in her eyes but still contained everything in her calm demeanor. She could see her friends slightly shook, while Annie and Mikasa just simply nodded and greeted her with a shy “Mrs Zoe.” Her mom simply said “Girls and boy, I guess it is time for you to go home. But you need to fix yourselves first.”
Her eyes never left Hange. Not even a second, and that is when Hange knows she will be a dead meat.
Her mom did not say a word of it, and it is much scarier when she is like this. By dinner time, Sasha ate her potatoes nervously, eyeing Hange and her mom. Their dad never even raised his head from his food as if he found something interesting in it.
“You have been matched, Hange. Congratulations.” Her mom said silently. So, this might be the reason as to why she brought food to the basement earlier. To congratulate her for being matched. Hange felt a bile on her throat. She doesn’t want to get married. She hesitated for a moment, but it could be now or never.
“I don’t want to be married. Most of all to a person I do not even know.” There, she already let the words out even though she is shaking.
“His name is Levi Ackerman, he is the son of the King’s advisor. You know him. Even though he does not know you. You should be thankful to be matched to such a noble person as he is. I heard he was never matched because he keeps on scowling all the time, maybe you could work your talent on that.” Her mother answered without even blinking.
Of course he knows that Levi Fucking Ackerman, he is Mikasa’s cousin. He was born with that eternal scowl on his face. If it is not illegal to be equal with the King, he would be known as the “Humanity’s Strongest Soldier”, but the king would be in rage if he hears that nickname so Levi is just “The Strong One”. She does not know if she will be pleased on the way her mother handles this situation. “But, mom I am not ready!!” She unintentionally raised her voice, and with that a slap on the table boomed on the whole room, it was deafening.
She noticed that the sound came from his father. “Enough Hange!! Until when will you stop disgracing our family? I’ve protected you all. I did my best to protect you and this family, and you would sneak under our noses doing illegal stuff under our roof? You know that we did not raise you to be a rebel. Maybe I was not a good father for letting you have your way for too long. I would not let your insolence ruin this family. Have you ever thought of what will happen to your mom and sister when you get caught?!” She does not know what to say. All this time her dad was her shield from her mom. She was shaking by the intensity of his voice and with that her tears.
“We received a royal decree. Our country is at war again. The king requires one male from each family to go and fight for the nation. The day after tomorrow, I will have to go.” She cannot believe what she is hearing. Even Sasha was about to protest.
“But dad, have you not fought enough at war before this. Maybe you could ask His highness to let you. . .” She was stopped mid-sentence by his dad’s warning stare.
“And risk another disgrace for our family? Enough of this Hange. End of discussion”. She did not finish dinner. She went strait to bed and cried herself to sleep. If her father goes, tomorrow would be the last time that she will see him. If her father goes, there is more chance of him not returning at all. Maybe she could think of something else. “Maybe I will see Moblit tomorrow.”

Prologue
The two Ackerman children were seen running excitedly as they meet their grandfather. A girl and a boy. One with shining brown eyes, and the other with a set of bluish gray that seems to change when the light reaches them. It could be understood that both of them missed their grandpa terribly. The old man, with little bit of greying hair amidst the raven-black ones, is smiling upon seeing his grandchildren. By just looking at his face, you would know that he has been quite a handsome man at his young age, even though he had battle scars at some area of his facade. Nevertheless, he still looks good with his greying hair and wrinkles by his eyes each time he smiles.
“Grandpa. We want to hear the story again. About that one captain.” The little girl excitedly hugs her grandfather’s legs, a level which she could only reach.
“Awww, you missed my stories more than me?” He teases her and that earned him a cute pout from the little girl.
“She misses your story, gramps. But I missed you.” The little boy cried out a little when he tried to reach his grandfather’s cigar, before he even noticed that he is already at his grandfather’s arms earning him a kiss.
“Ewwww. Grandpa. I am a big boy now. You shouldn’t be kissing me anymore.” Their grandfather laughed.
“So since you are a big boy, you do not want to hear my stories then?” Both of the kids fell silent and again noisily dragged their grandfather into the porch to tell them about their favorite story.
Both of the hyperactive children starts bickering loudly as to where they should sit when Grandpa Ackerman started to clear his throat as a signal that he will now begin his story.
The kids went silent and with wide eyes. They listened to their grandfather. Both of them in prone position and the back of their hands supporting their chins, attentively taking in all of their grandfather’s words into their imagination— giving them life.
And when they listened, the story goes like this:
Long ago, before the age of the titans. Before we were separated by the walls, women are beneath the society. They were never given education because their only purpose is to be a “wife”, to bring her family honor, to make her husband happy, and all of the things that would make you a submissive little person to the male species. They could never participate in war, one could never be a soldier, or even a scientist. They were never heard, not even once. Their only mistake was they were born a “woman”, emotionally & physically weak than men.
Hange Zoe is such a peculiar person. She was labeled as a weirdo in their little town. She does not follow rules, and a little liberated. She does not believe that a person should be caged or contained by how the society labels them. She is her own person. This is often the very reason as why she always fights with her mom. “You do not look like a girl your age?” “When will you start acting like a lady?” “Are you insane going out with people you do not even know?””Why the hell are you always with Moblit?”“It is not good for an unmarried woman to be seen with an unmarried man”. These lines were only triggered by their failed attempt to be matched to a suitable groom, and her mom’s word would go on and on till forever, and she will just tune it all out and forget them. Besides, Moblit is just a friend. Should society also put a label on who should be a friend and not?
Yes she knows, she would never be good at cooking like her younger sister Sasha, who had already been matched to the chef next village. She could never be as sassy and cool as Mikasa, who has also been match to the son of a noble Yeager Family next town. And here she is, nearing her 30s yet, unmatched and the matchmaker said she will never ever, not in her lifetime, be married. A badluck in their town. She is not even worried at the very least. She just laugh it all out and would tell that story to Sasha later. She knows her sister would just joke around that at least she will be forever be known as “The Oldmaid of Trost” who will eventually haunt kids through the stories passed from generation to generation.
There is that one person that she does not want to disappoint, her father. He would just look at her, and smile at her behind her mom’s ramblings. She knows that no matter what happens, her dad would understand. His dad values family so much. He understands the longing when one parts from a family the moment he returned from war a few years before. She was thankful for the years of peace after that war, because she had all the time in the world to spend it with her family. But despite the smile her father shows, she could see the sadness etched on his eyes. It might be because of the multitude of death he had witnessed? Or it might be because of the friends he had lost at the battlefield. Needless to say, she is thankful that his father is with them. He is at home. Their country is at peace.
Or so they thought.
