I would also like to see this prompt.
Can someone help me find this prompt:
Danny goes to college in Gotham because other ones think he's cursed despite getting good marks and not causing trouble.
Danny has opened his eyes to the ghost zone like a new baby opening their eyes to the world.
Also, Constantine is following him, and Gotham people consider Danny their new Cryptid.

Well if you insist! :>
There was a loud knocking on the door, Ivy only knew one man that knocked that loudly. Jack was known to show up at random but he never came over unannounced during the night. Least of all at four in the morning. Maybe he had a new idea he wanted to share and was too excited to wait.
"Who's at the door?" Harley called out. "Probably Jack," Ivy said walking to the door. She looked through the peephole and sure enough Jack's tall stature filled most of the view. She didn't recognize that orange jacket though.
She opened the door expecting to see Jack's face radiating with excitement, ready to blab on about a new potential project. But... He was just standing with the most serious expression she's ever seen on him. It felt wrong. "Jack, what is it?" Ivy didn't bother to hide her concern.
That wasn't an orange jacket he was wearing, it was a full body suit. A hazmat suit. "Ivy I have a favor to ask of you." His kids were here, standing behind Jack nearly out of Ivy's view. Why were they here?
Why did they look so scared? The boy, Danny was pressed up against his older sister hugging her arm. Ivy nodded for Jack to continue. "My ex-wife managed to track us down. Can you watch my kids for me? I can't risk her getting near them." His ex... It's the first time Jack has mentioned her. Of course the Rouges found out he was once married. It was Harley who noticed the tan line on his ring finger, and the way he spoke left most inferring Jack's marriage didn't end well.
Most people don't move to Gotham for good or happy reasons.
"Of course, Harley and I will keep them safe." Ivy barely finished talking before getting pulled into a bone crushing hug. "Thank you." His voice was soft and Ivy was half convinced he would start crying.
He then hugged his kids with the same bone crushing strength before passing them over to Ivy. "Be good for Aunty Ivy and Harley, I'll call you when I can come get you." Ivy led them inside, but not before glancing back at Jack.
He looked grim with an underlying anger. But it was fueled by a look of pure determination. The same determination he had when debating theories, when he'd encourage Riddler to get back into game developing, when he helped Victor Fries build his lab equipment, when he'd wrestle ManBat down until he turned back so he wouldn't hurt anyone.
This time Jack was protecting his kids.
He pulled something out of his pocket as he walked away. An odd looking gun handle. A moment later the thing expanded, within it second turned into a giant bazooka. The likes of which you'd see in a sci-fi movie.
Harley looked up happy but confused when she saw Ivy return with Jack's kids but no Jack. "Jack asked us to watch his kids for a little." Ivy explained before turning back to them. "Hey why don't you go sit down, me and Harley will make you some hot cocoa."
Through the process, Ivy quietly told Harley what happened. "I'm going to call Babs." Harley nodded, "I'll keep the kiddos occupied."
While Harley carried the mugs walking over to them, Ivy went to their bedroom closing the door behind her.
"Oracle? Something is going down with Jack."
"He said his ex found them, he's planning on confronting her. He asked me to keep his kids safe."
Dp x DC Jack is single AU
I just want you to imagine a reveal where Jack takes it well and Maddie doesn’t, resulting in a divorce and Jack getting custody
Then the kids grow up. A couple years pass, Jazz visits on holidays, calls once a week to check in, Danny just went off to college
So what we have is Jack Fenton, divorced empty nester now with way to much time on his hands
So he starts going out to meet people
The problem? He ends up in a rogues bar in Gotham and is oblivious to the fact he’s meeting/flirting with supervillains
And Jack is happy as a clam! He’s meeting all these interesting people with PhDs! He has a PhD!

I magine if Danny had to show up to one family meeting/dinner a year and it’s pretty okay going.
Ra’s knows he went through some sort of accident because the boy’s hands were way too cold to be normal. But it seems fine and he doesn’t feel the need to probe further.
The Next year Danny shows up with Dani with absolutely no warning. Just “Hey so I got cloned, her name right now is Dani with an ‘i’ thought I’d introduce her to the family.” Everyone’s head twists over like what the hell Danny you were supposed to be the normal one!
Ra’s on the other hand is pissed who cloned his grandson! The audacity! “Danny, my grandson. Who cloned you?” He asks as calmly as he can while bending his fork in half. “This creep Vlad, he wanted to make a replacement for me since I wanted nothing to do with him. But he didn’t realize I was trans so Dani was the only one stable enough to survive.”
“I wish to learn more about this ‘Vlad’ later Danyal. But for now let us enjoy this dinner.” Ra’s glances at Damien tied up in one of the chairs. Talia kidnapped him solely for the family dinner. “Do you have any new siblings I should know about?”
Later: “So this Vlad masters has been bothering you and your adoptive family for a while.”
“It was mostly childish annoyances that I could handle myself. But recently he has been trying to insert himself into my life in whatever way he can as mayor and godfather.”
“I see I will see to it that he is taken care of grandson.”
“If I give you something that can kill him, do you promise to be discrete?”
“Of course! Who do you take me for?”
Dick: so you're Damian's other cousin, Mara's older brother, right?
Danny Fenton: yup, that's me.
Tim: not to be rude or anything but how come Damian's the heir and you're not? You're like a whole five years older than him.
Danny: kinda the same reason my father, Dasun, isn't the heir. I was born with a defect.
Dick: may we ask what defect?
Danny: oh I'm trans, grandfather immediately accepted that I'm a guy now, but he called it a defect that I was born in the wrong body so I'm not the heir.
Jason: that is oddly supportive of him, but still awful of him to say that you're defective of it.
Danny: yeah Grandfather is weird like that, he once said that me being in one of friends' band was foolish but still showed up to one of our bigger concerts.
Dick: why is he a more supportive grandfather to you than he ever was to your sister and Damian?
Danny: oh that's because when Aunt Taila was pregnant with Damian I decided I didn't want to be an assassin and because I'm the child of his least favorite kid I was allowed to go as long as I sent letters every now and then to show that I'm still alive.

“John why didn’t you say anything? We could have helped you more.”
Wonder Woman nods in agreement.
John now has to figure out to to tell this demigodess about how he made a deal with her Grandpa who ate all her uncles and aunts. And how this kid absolutely related in some way to that dead titan.
And fuck does the kid look like him. Was that a consequence of carrying him? And it’s only going to make them assume he had a kid with the ghost of Kronos.
Needless to say he needs to find a babysitter since yesterday so he can go drink enough to kill a horse.
Not Batman though, he’d never get the kid back from the man.
Constantine makes a deal with the Spirit of Kronos.
In return for all contracts he has made regarding his soul being voided, and for Kronos himself to be John's Patron, he has to take a ghost core into himself and nurture it until it's independent.
Easy.
Infinite Realms beings are fiercely independent, and he estimates that one year of hosting and three months of looking after is nothing compared to the headache that he was going to have to go through to get those contracts voided.
The Spirit of Kronos assures him that this task will be on par, and that the payment for doing this is actually equal. He'll have to be sober, not a single drop of liquor or booze, not a single cigarette, for the entire duration.
Which. Okay, yeah, that sounds a little difficult.
So John accepts, expecting this to be kinda hard. But it's not.
The Core he houses is barely noticeable. Barely there. It takes a lot of magic, and eats a lot of ecto, and he's starting to realize that this core may have been severely damaged. This may be more than a year of hosting.
Then it starts to effect him.
He gets cravings, he's a little more emotional due to Realms Spirits being based on emotions, he sleeps more because of the little core leeching off of his magic reserves.
Other heroes start to notice.
He starts getting left out of missions, JLD and JL both checking in on him periodically. They don't know, but they know something is up.
Then he feels it one and a half years after accepting the deal; the tiny core is finally ready to come into the world. Soon, so soon, he'll be able to drink and smoke again, worry free.
The tiny ghost materializes in front of him - and John lunges forward to catch it before it falls to the floor.
Because that's not a ghost.
That's a human baby.
A green sticky note pops onto the kids forehead, and John realizes he may have just been bamboozled.
'His name is Daniel, and the deal stands until he is legally able to be independent per American Law. I look forward to our partnership.
CW'

This would go really well with snake Danny. After a few few or tries to pry Danny of Constantine, he goes snake mode and coils around him. Not to point of squeezing the life out of him but it makes it a whole lot harder for John to move. Danny hisses again at Hal when he takes a step towards them.
"Okay stop trying, you're making it worse!" John grumbled, looking absolutely done with the situation.
"Sorry... can you continue about the anti-ecto acts?" Superman said trying to steer back to the topic.
John continues on about the issue, sometimes the teen when mumble something to John. What he said made John look more and more tense as he adds the boy's tidbits to his rants. Which make the situation sound worse. After Constantine finished debriefing Danny -who had finally told them his name- pointed out a neon green sticky note one superman's back. When did that get there?
"It's from CW he gives me notes sometimes" He explained while John snatched up the note and scanned it. "CW- Do you mean Clockwork!? How do you know the ancient of time!" Danny shrugged "Bad timeline"
"What does the note say?" Diana asked after hearing ancient of time. John handed her the note and turned away. "I gotta go see something. Be right back"
Before anyone could argue John was already gone. A few leaguers huffed in annoyance while other read the note.
'The house of mystery will have a few helpful texts for your halfa: The Infinite Realms Beings, Ghostly Etiquette, and
And as a personal gift two books from the future: Halfa Existence vol. 1, Halfa Existence vol. 2 how to care for your half ghostling child
-ClockWork'
*hisssss* My comfort human!
Nightwing stared, he turned his head staring at Zatanna in a way that clearly spelled the question: Are you seeing what I am seeing?
Zatanna only gave him a shrug with a smile before focusing back on the meeting, leaving Nightwing to turn back and stare. He wasn't the only hero in the room with that reaction. There were a couple others too that reacted similarly. Only Batman appeared to be able to hold his pokerface.
Right before them was Constantine trying to explain to them all how their goverment basically fucked them over, while a 'ghost' teen was clinging to the man's shoulders glaring and hissing at them all. Worst of all Constantine was acting like the kid wasn't even there. Like there was no a white haired, black and white dressed teen hugging the man around his shoulders while glaring at them with glowing Lazarus green eyes.
"Uhm John? What's with the kid?" Green Lantern finally asked interrupting another one of the magicans rants about how screwed they were to which the Brite only glared at the hero.
"Ignore him."
"But..."
"IGNORE him."
"Maybe we should remove the child from this meeting before we continue?" Superman offered good naturally and Constantine looked pretty much done with them all, Nightwing noted. The blond waved with his hand as if telling them to 'go on try it'.
The heroes exchanged glances. Before Superman moved forward reaching out to remove the teen....
...and promptly got bitten. Nightwings eyes widened as he noticed the teen actually broke kryptonian skin!
The teen then proceeded to hiss at them while clutching onto Constantine protectively. The magican only let out a suffering sigh and muttered something about never touching a core again.
"My comfort human! Get your own!"

Lex told him what a dilf was. Moon-Moon was excited to share his newly gained knowledge
[Everyone disliked that]
Okay we always have Danny being a cryptid in Gotham...
But what if we have eldritch Danny being a cryptid in Metropolis? And everyone in Metropolis is normal about it, it's the out of towners who have trouble with their "little" jellyfish/dragon/bird/skeleton cryptid, that the locals have named Moon-Moon caue sometimes the darling means well..
But well Moon-Moon is a bit of an idiotic genius.
And when I say everyone in Metropolis is normal about their local Cryptid, I'm including the Super Family. Cause that adds and even more hilarious edge to it.

Danny's mind was racing as he approached the hidden lab. He was so close and yet he found it hard to keep moving. When his legs were too rigid to walk he forced himself forward by floating. He- he was right outside the man's lab. His father The growing cold was freezing by now, it felt pure relief.
Danny let his feet touch the ground again and for his invisibility to wash away. He made sure his foot steps were loud enough to be heard. Mr. Freeze was already staring at him when he entered, freeze ray in hand. "Who are you? Why are you here." He demanded. Danny raised his hands in surrender. "My name is Danny Fenton, four... four years ago I was diagnosed with Huntingtons disease."
That gave the man pause, and a mount to inspect the boy. He seemed completely unaffected by the cold. Pale skin completely not flushed, no sign of frosted breath and he wasn't shaking from the cold at all. What was this boy, a meta?
The back of his mind screamed about a boy, still just a baby. When Victor's work and Nora's illness became too much and he sent Daniel to live with relatives as temporary guardians. It was better for him to live people who could care for him, as much as it pained Victor and Nora. Then things went downhill and temporary turned to permanent. Victor was in Arkham when he learned that Daniel was put into the foster system and he didn't hear anything else since.
Victor was brought back to the present when Danny spoke up. "I dug up old files about me being taken by cps. From relatives of your's who were my temporary guardians." He was shifting nervously, looking to the ground. "I- I was hoping you'd let me join you."
"I've been doing my own research and my friend's grandmother promised to help funding but she's not a billionaire." Victor started walking to Danny. "I'm pretty good with engineering too, I can help you make equipment you need." He trailed off his rambling as the man stopped in front of him. Victor pulled him into a hug. "I'm so sorry" He said and Danny's heart clenched at those words. With tears threatening to spill, Danny hugged him back. "You couldn't have known."
Danny is the son of Mr Freeze
So! Danny was adopted as a Kid.
It was never really that big of a thing to him, just a small footnote in his life. He never really cared about finding his Bio Family, or even looking into it at all. His new Family was enough for him, no need to complicate it all that much.
But then, the Accident happened.
After he got shocked by the Portal and passed out, his parents had rushed him to the hospital. Apparently his Heart had been pulsing irregularly, so they had decided to not take any chances.
While at the Hospital, the Doctors noticed a particularly strange result in his blood tests. So, a few months after he had been discharged (it took a while for the blood work to come back), they asked him to come back in for further testing.
At first, Danny was scared that they had found out about his Powers. But when he walked into the Room, they had other news.
He had been diagnosed with Huntingtons Disease, a rare neurological condition that apparently had no known cure. The only possible way to contract the Disease was to have inherited it from one of his parents.
They said it was in its early stages at the moment, but as time passed he would become weaker and weaker, and he would become more sickly. They diagnosed that he had just over 5 years left before he died, and there were no treatments or cures that could save him.
Danny got a second opinion with Frostbite, since he knew more about Ghost Biology and might know if it was truly a fatal Disease for a Halfa.
And yeah, it was. No matter how much of him is Ghostly, he is still half Human, and the Human Disease in his body can and will kill him. And there's no guarantee that he will become a full Ghost upon death. For all he knows it will just End him.
So, Danny had a time limit to find a way to cure himself. He didn't have much time to study, what with the constant Ghost Attacks, his School Work, and keeping his parents from attacking innocent Ghosts, but he managed where he could.
Speaking of his parents, they had been looking into the disease as well. But they seemed convinced that they could find a way to save him by simply dissecting a Ghost to study its biology. (It was as if this was just a convenient excuse to dive deeper into their obsession)
After a while, he mamaged to resolve the Ghost Attack stuff and got his grades under control, but he was still making little progress on finding a Cure.
So, he looked into other people who might be studying the same Disease, to see if he could look I to their research. But that search came up empty.
There was nobody who wanted to fund research into such a rare disease, so nobody was studying it. There was one man who was studying it, but he was a convicted Supervillain. Danny decided that he would be his backup plan, since he wasn't sure how Jazz would react if he teamed up with a known Villain.
He just kept on studying his condition.
...
It had been about 4 years since his initial diagnosis, and Danny was 18. And he needed help.
He had made no progress in developing a Cure, and his condition had worsened. He could barely walk without a limp anymore, and his limbs felt weaker by the day.
He did manage to get some luck when he found out that lowering his Body Temperature would slow the progress of the Disease. He was never more thankful for his Ice Powers than on the day he figured that out.
But he had hit a roadblock. He needed help, and unfortunately there was only one place he could go to get it. The Supervillain he had read about all that time ago, Mr Freeze.
Now he was headed to Gotham City to seek his help, even if it meant becoming a Villlain himself.

Ghost blobs lead someone to Danny (Part 2)
When Tim entered the Batcave in the morning he didn't know what to expect. Alfred had mentioned that Bruce barely left the cave after coming home later than everyone else. But weirdly he didn't sound upset about it.
He wasn't expecting a loud chirp. Was this a weird new security measure? A prank? A flash of green above him flew away toward the batcomputer. He quickly ran over calling out. "Bruce?"
Tim stared at the bat computer. Bruce was working on... something but what the heck were the green blobs floating around him. Were they humming? "Hey Bruce? Are you aware of the blobs?" "Yes, they came with a victim I found last night." "Last night? They're here?" "Due to their appearance and the nature of their injuries. I assumed it would be safest to treat him here."
Tim looked at the monitor containing a report on the victim. Found in an abandoned warehouse with severe injuries along with 'blob ghosts' and the victim claiming to be a ghost. The victim or Danny didn't have any vital signs but was still conscious.
Danny's claim of being bad at being a ghost was explained when the boy transformed into a living breathing human with vital signs. Sewing the wounds were difficult because not five minutes later the stitches were dissolved. Not even the sutures meant for Superman lasted. That's when the blob ghosts did something to the sutures. They gave off a faint green glow, but they didn't dissolve like the rest of the stitches so they had to resolve to using them for the rest of the injuries.
Last part of the report was far more clinical then the rest. Which was cataloging the injuries. At first it was thought to be from an autoposy, but... There are clear signs of struggle, Danny was obviously strapped down with something that had burned his skin. He was vivisected.
Tim stopped reading it and looked away, some of the blobs turned their attention to him. The humming was louder now, it was rather soothing to hear. One floated closer to Him. He cautiously reached out to it and brushed it gently on its head.
The blob liked it apparently and leaned into his hand. The others seemed to take this as an invitation and swarmed Tim. "Uh Bruce!" "Oh that's normal. They'll calm down... eventually." The man spoke matter of factly and he could just barely see a smile creeping on to the man's face.
Traitor
A few of the blobs were grabbing his sleeve and tugging. They barely had any strength. If this was how much they bite, Tim could see why Bruce allowed the creatures into the cave. And it seemed they were leading him somewhere. Just like in Bruce's report, Tim glanced at the man once before following the ghost blobs.
They arrived in the medbay, where Danny was left in one of the more private rooms meant for long term recovery. Tim heard the same chirp from before. But this time there was a responding one. So it was a sort of alarm then, one to warn of an intruder and the responding one must be to say he wasn't a threat.
The new blobs greeted him like the ones before. But they did get out of his face to let him see Danny. The boy was incredibly pale and still. Tim thought he could be dead if it wasn't for the slow rise and fall of his chest.
His heart rate did not improve much and his body temp was still worryingly low. Tim hoped that it was normal for Danny. Tim was hoping to get some case work done before going to his office, but the blobs seemed content to have Tim there. Tim does have a laptop, so he could call Tam saying he's taking slow day. It would probably be for the best if someone was with Danny when he wakes up.

I couldn't help myself from making more. Edward definitely told everyone about Danny. They probably have a bet started of when Batman tries to kidnap rescue Danny.
(DCxDP) The obligations of a rogue versus those of a parent (Pt. 4)
Tw: descriptions of body horror, Dr. Crane has PTSD and Does Not Realize, Crane has an actual panic attack and just doesn’t care, the Riddler makes one (1) sex joke about Batman
Will be crossposted to AO3 eventually
(Pt. 1 here) (Prev here) - (Pt. 5 here)
(Masterlist here)
Dr. Jonathan Crane is in his lab, the acrid scent of chemicals filling the air, and his hands are shaking.
Danny’s health, for the first week that he had him, had been steadily improving at an extremely quick rate. However, his healing had begun to stagnate. Danny said that it was because his body had run out of ectoplasm, and that while there was a lot of ambient ectoplasm in Gotham, he needed a stronger type in order to heal.
And so, that let Dr. Crane here.
He had stolen the research notes from the Penguin years ago regarding his experimentation on him.
(He quite vividly remembers the sound of bone creaking and groaning as it twisted, lengthened. The squelching of shifting tendons and muscles, the strange fabric-like tightening of skin. The feeling of going from man to monster, of losing all claim to his humanity.)
Danny had called him Liminal, part ghost. He had said that he was transformed by, among other things, a kind of synthetic ectoplasm.
Danny needed ectoplasm.
Crane had the research notes. He had every ingredient necessary. And yet, attempt after attempt failed.
The chemical smell burns his nose. His hands tremble.
Dr. Crane is not afraid.
He doesn’t feel fear anymore. He’s tried to, many, many times, but nothing has worked. And yet, his hands are shaking still.
(The horrifying sensation of vertebrae pop-pop-popping along his spine, growing and lengthening. The unbearable itching beneath his skin as toxin glands begin to form. The feeling of his teeth sharpening and elongating, of his skull growing, of his vision changing and brightening. The awful stench of chemicals. The awful stench of ectoplasm.)
Jonathan takes careful note of his shaking hands, his blurring vision, his accelerated heart-rate and shallow breathing.
(Human hands. Human vision. Human heart and lungs and organs.)
He takes note of them, but he does not let that distract him from the task at hand. Danny is not a chemist, but Jonathan is.
The boy knows enough about chemistry in theory, but he won’t go anywhere near Crane’s equipment. He seems to have some sort of intense fear of laboratory settings, probably developed during his stay with the GiW, and Crane is willing to respect that, if only because he cannot afford to lose him.
As such, Crane is the only one qualified to do this. And, unfortunately, if he isn’t successful the boy may very well die.
He heats the chemicals to precisely the right temperatures, adding each one to its correct container.
Dr. Crane thinks of the Scarebeast, that creature born of cruelty and greed and a sense of superiority. That creature which he tries to ignore is a part of him, that can never be removed. A damage which cannot be undone.
He pours the contents of a small beaker into a larger flask, watching the liquids swirl together. The stench in the air is becoming closer and closer to the one burned into his memory.
Crane’s whole body is wracked with unpleasant sensations. It’s truly unfortunate, he thinks, that despite his mind’s lack of fear, his body still reacts so harshly.
Jonathan’s eyes wander, eventually settling on a purple and green card sitting innocently on the corner of the table.
Right.
Even if they wiped out the GiW tomorrow, and even if Danny could survive without ectoplasm, he would still be in danger.
Crane has to get him back to good health. It’s the only way he can be sure that the boy can defend himself properly.
The solution in the flask begins to foam, and Jonathan does not hesitate as he adds the final ingredient. He pours the mixture into a new container, capping it and placing it into a freezer set to -40 degrees.
Hopefully this time he got the timing right.
Jonathan tries to relax, the ventilation in the room slowly but surely clearing the familiar smell from the air.
He thinks of the letter.
Surely, he thinks, that man can come up with some better material for his jokes. Or, at least something new.
Same old threats, same old attempted poisoning.
Aiming his threats at Danny, though, that was new. New and utterly unacceptable.
Scarecrow did what he had to.
He doubted that his solution would last forever, of course, as with that man it never did. As such, he would prepare both himself and Danny for the inevitable moment that his choices came back to bite them.
However, for the moment, they were safe. Danny could rest and recover, and Jonathan could figure out a plan to minimize possible damages.
Jonathan is no longer shaking.
He’s exhausted. This is his fifth attempt today, and each one leaves an unfortunate strain on his mind and body.
With a sigh, he settles himself into his seat at a nearby desk, opening up his computer and logging his most recent attempt. He still has to wait for it to chill to know if it was successful, but he can always update the logs later.
Once he’s done, he stretches, joints popping loudly as he walks to the freezer.
When he sees the results of his tireless work, the ghost of a smile flits across his face.
Success.
Jonathan picks up the jug of ectoplasm and leaves the lab, which is in all actuality the basement of the new apartment that he moved himself and Danny into after receiving the note. The scrappy old woman who was his landlord had told him that as long as he paid her five hundred dollars up front, she would let him set up in the basement without any questions or cop calls.
And so, the most expensive apartment in the Narrows was his.
At least, he thought, the distance between the basement and the apartment was short enough that Danny didn’t have to sit in while he was doing his labwork.
Jonathan knew that he didn’t exactly have a strong grasp on the concept of ‘lab safety,’ proven by his built-up immunity to almost every toxic chemical he’d ever encountered, and he doubted that Danny should be around such an environment.
He was back to the apartment quickly, not bothering to hide the self-satisfied smile on his face. Danny is sitting in his armchair, trying to read one of his books. Danny looks up, ready to greet him, when he sees the jug in his hands and pauses.
“Is that..?”
“Synthetic ectoplasm,” Jonathan says proudly, “I found the Penguin’s research notes and decided to recreate it, since you said that you needed it to heal properly. I’m not sure if it’ll work the same as what you usually have, but I hope it’s helpful all the same.”
Danny is standing, now, and looking at Jonathan with a strange look in his eyes. He looks, Jon thinks, like he’s about to cry.
Then Danny is rushing forward and wrapping his arms around Jonathan, his scrawny form shaking.
Jonathan is, for a moment, horrified. Did he do something wrong somehow? Why is this child, who’s so afraid of touch, hugging him?
And then he hears Danny’s voice, and he knows that it was all worth it.
“Thank you,” he’s mumbling, over and over, “thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you so much.”
“Of course,” Jonathan says softly, because what else can he say?
The boy cries in his arms for a while, and Jonathan briefly wonders what his life must have been like before, if a person like him can be seen as a comforting figure.
Then, Danny pours himself a small glass of the synthetic ectoplasm, putting the rest into the small fridge which had come with the apartment, and he settles back down, sitting in the armchair once again.
Jonathan sits opposite of him, and they chat with one another as Danny drinks.
Danny talks to him about the stars and tells him about different spaceships, and Jonathan makes sure to pay attention and ask the boy questions.
He doesn’t miss the way that Danny lights up every time he asks him something about his interests. He’s so passionate, so smart, a trait that he seldom sees outside of his fellow rogues, and Jonathan wants to encourage that.
It’s…nice. Peaceful, almost.
And then the front door flies open, because Jonathan isn’t allowed to have nice things.
“Jon,” a familiar voice rings out, “what the hell?!”
Danny is frozen in place, clearly terrified.
Jonathan heaves a sigh, turning to face the nuisance who’s entered his apartment.
“Eddie,” he drawls, “to what do I owe the pleasure?”
Edward’s face is red with anger as he invades Jonathan’s apartment.
“Oh, I don’t know! Maybe it’s the fact that you sent a bunch of rogues a cryptic message and then dropped off the face of the earth for two weeks! I was worried, Jon!”
Jonathan hums in acknowledgement.
“I didn’t think it was that cryptic,” he says, picking up a book in order to pointedly ignore the Riddler.
“Oh, of course you didn’t, you straw-stuffed hickory dickory dickhead. I swear, you’re always—” he pauses, finally having noticed Danny sitting opposite of Jonathan, “—who is this?”
“My apprentice,” Jonathan replies, dreading the upcoming headache he was no doubt going to develop from Edward’s company, “he’s helping me hunt down the GiW. His name is Danny.”
Edward gasps dramatically.
“You—an apprentice?! And you’re letting him sit in the old man chair?! You don’t even let me sit in the old man chair,” he wails, draping himself over the headrest of the couch with a flourish, “Jonathan, I thought I knew you!”
“Edward,” Jonathan says, “get out of my apartment.”
“Oh my goodness, this is incredible. You’re becoming the bat!”
“I am not becoming the bat, Eddie, now get out.”
Edward has a shit-eating grin on his face as he waltzes over to Danny. Danny, who seemed terrified when he first appeared, is now looking at him with obvious amusement written all over his face.
“I mean, look at him! The hair, the eyes, the scrappy build. If you put him in one of those traffic light vigilante costumes, he could easily pass as a Robin!”
“I’m not doing this with you today, Eddie.”
“Riddle me this, Jon: I am a treasure hidden inside of a chest. You can break me, or steal me, or give me a rest. I can flutter, or pound, or attack, or drop, but if you don’t have me, you’re certainly fucked. What am I?”
Jonathan pauses for a moment before he groans, dropping his head into his hands.
“Eddie.”
Danny sits still, a confused look on his face as he repeats the riddle silently. Then, his face lights up in delight.
“A heart!”
“Jon, I like this one,” Edward says with a smile, ruffling Danny’s hair, “you are correct! A heart, something that I wasn’t aware that our dear Jonathan had!”
“Eddie, stop.”
“No, no,” Edward says, “I was worried about you, you deserve this. I mean, you even missed girls night! You never miss girls night!”
“Girls night?” Danny asks, absolutely delighted.
“Oh, of course,” Edward says, sprawling over on the couch, dangerously close to just laying in Jonathan’s lap, “we have it once a week. I’m invited because of Selina and Jon’s invited because Harley likes him.”
“And what does girls night entail, exactly?”
“Eddie,” Jonathan groans, “please.”
“Well,” Edward hums, “we usually paint our nails, or watch a movie, or gossip about the other rogues, and occasionally, we tell each other about any ‘encounters’ we have with Batman,” he says, raising his eyebrows up and down.
Danny’s jaw drops.
“Edward, shut up,” Jonathan says, an irritated tone in his voice that wasn’t there before.
“No way,” Danny says, “I thought that Batman, like, hated you guys or something. You mean he actually..?”
“Oh, the Bat is much like a bottle of liquor or a cheap cigarette, in that he was made to be passed around.”
Danny chokes on air.
“Edward Nygma,” Jonathan hisses, getting out of his seat and looming over the man, “get the hell out.”
Edward pales.
“Leaving, leaving!” Edward says, dashing away from Jonathan. He pauses, turning to flash Danny a quick smile.
“Remember Danny, I’m your favorite uncle! Not any of the other rogues, me!”
With that, he leaves, the room falling completely silent.
And, as per usual, that silence does not last.
“You full-named him?” Danny asks gleefully, “and it worked?”
Jonathan just sighs, sitting down on the couch and rubbing at his temples.
“Please, don’t take anything Eddie says seriously. He’s a moron.”
“Dr. Crane, please let me come to girls night with you,” Danny pleads, his eyes sparkling, “I promise I won’t embarrass you.”
Jonathan groans.
“Of course you won’t, Eddie will do it for you.”
“Come on, please?”
“I think we’re a bit busy with the GiW at the moment,” Jonathan snaps. He pauses as he notices the crestfallen expression on Danny’s face.
This boy is going to be the death of him.
“Perhaps, though, when all that is taken care of…”
Danny cheers, grinning wildly, and Jonathan is not at all relieved to see him happy again. Certainly not.
The rest of the day is relatively normal.
Danny works on trying to get information from the GiW database while Crane refines his his fear toxin, both preparing for a raid on the GiW base they located in Gotham.
It was only a temporary base, nothing of note, but there was a chance of discovering more bases through it, and that wasn’t something either of them were willing to give up.
Still, something like this would take time. Rushing would only lead to failure.
Late in the night, long after Danny is fast asleep in his room, Jonathan pauses.
The GiW are not the only threat out there. They aren’t the only threat to him or to Danny. Perhaps it could be helpful to reach out to someone with greater resources than himself.
He sends a quick message to Red Hood.
Hopefully, he thinks, everything will go smoothly.

As Tucker cut off the call, Damian stepped away from the screen. He… He had hoped that his… that Batman would have some sort of response to his resignation. But the man just stared frozen at him.
He didn’t see Grayson there so maybe he had a response. But he’ll never see the man’s reaction. It was then that Danny walked into his line of vision. “You doing okay Damian?” He brushed away his thought for now. “I’ll be alright.” Danny smiled. “well dinner is still being prepared but everyone banned from cooking is playing some card games.” Danny offered up his hand in invitation to hold.
It’s something he loved about the TVA. Nearly everything was his choice. How long he stayed, if he wanted a private or joined bedroom, physical touch, sparing rules, joining missions or normalish activities. Sessions with Jazz were really the only mandatory part of the group and no one was excluded, even the founders. But you could talk about what ever you wanted.
His most recent choice was how he wanted to celebrate his permanent joining the group. Lots of kids liked to throw a party. Piñatas were popular, usually an ex-mentor or their nemesis. Dancing with a horrendous amount of junk food was often included. Game nights were common too, they were grander then the recurring game nights
Damian though wanted a sit down dinner with a movie afterwards.
Damian took Danny’s offered hand and followed him out to the big decorated living room. Cards were fun, at first they played Blackjack. But quickly they switched to uno because people didn’t want to bet anymore. Damian quite happily took his earnings, he even got a gadget someone had bet.
The Dinner had a focus on vegetarian and vegan dishes. Dinner was a blast and Damian was sat at the head of the table as it was his celebration. He definitely wouldn’t mind having more dinners like this: tension free full of chatter and laughter.
By the time everyone was ready for the movie they were all a bit tired. Damian had pondered over what movie he’d chose. In the end he chose Castle in the Sky. So settled in a large bean bag with Danny, he watched the start of the move.
An odd feeling of peace settles over him.
Little ficlet based on, like, one single scene that inspired me from this amazing post by @charlietheepicwriter7! Literally couldn't get this idea out of my head!!
Batman stared at the uniform in his hands.
The uniform consisting of red, green, gold and black colors.
The Robin uniform.
Near him, the glint of a birdarang catches his eye, the green of Damian's domino mask next to it. And the R of the Robin badge alongside the rest of his utility belt and such.
The other members of the Justice League were talking, he can faintly hear their voices echoing in his ears but can't make out any words being spoken.
The only thing he can hear were the words his son said to him when he called to inform the Justice League of any updates on his mission. It was supposed to be easy, Damian would slowly worm his way into this group of villainous teens and the Justice League would have their way in and disband it and have all their 'members' be placed away to what was their rightful punishments.
Starting with that Phantom character who has been avoiding their radars.
Damian had certainly learned at a young age the art of deception from Talia. Her ways of being an assassin slash spy to get what information she could need being passed along to their son.
Talia disowning Damian didn't change that. He was an Al Ghul, no matter what.
He was their ticket in, using the name Al Ghul instead of Wayne as he was accepted into the Phantom's gang.
But maybe... maybe Bruce miscalculated how much acceptance he was going to get by joining said gang.
"I quit." Damian's voice rang clear and loud.
There wasn't a moment to comprehend what Bruce could even say to that before Damian kept going.
"I quit this mission. I quit being Robin and I... I no longer wish to return to Gotham with you, Batman." Not even a 'Father' at the end of his sentence, just Batman.
Because that's what he always was to Damian, not 'Father' or even anything else. Just Batman.
There was some exclaims from the Justice League, Batman recalls some calling Damian a traitor and he wanted to defend his son, tell Damian to come back, anything.
But he was struck frozen in his seat.
Damian was wearing a simple black domino mask, along with a black outfit. Nothing like the outfit of someone in the League of Assassins, just something that was solely him, that he chose to wear.
The call ended at some point, whether from Damian or someone else.
Damian wasn't returning from this mission, he was staying with Phantom.
He was... accepted, it seems. In a way he never was with Bruce, and certainly not with Talia or Ra's.
Dick wasn't going to be happy about this.
