thinking about oikawa with slightly longer hair, like a bit past his shoulders and he styles it like his usual hairdo but sometimes ties it into a ponytail. first time iwaizumi sees it on call he chokes on his water and oikawa just laughs and says how had iwaizumi not noticed he was growing out his hair. he had noticed actually. had thought of running his hands through toorus longer strands, twisting the hair around his fingers, and pulling it back, so he could see oikawa's face better. so when iwaizumi visits longer hair oikawa, he's more handsy, using every opportunity to just tug oikawa's hair, push back some stray strands until oikawa giggles, takes Iwachans hand and places it on his head. “you can feel it, iwachan. I don't mind.” And so he does

Months later when they've finally got their shit together and start dating, iwaizumi experiences his first heartbreak when oikawa cuts his hair short, because “its too hot now iwachan, and it's easier to play with shorter hair.” iwaizumi laments the loss of long hair oikawa every day and oikawa delights in it, occasionally growing out his hair whenever he can to see his iwachan get obsessed with it
