Controversial take: Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of those shows that actually did come out at exactly the right time because dear god, I can barely handle some of these posts from the newest wave of fans ("Why is Katara blaming Zuko for her mom's death?" is an unironic take that I just saw with my own unblind eye), let alone if they were making those takes as the series was airing. I'm not saying the fandom was all sunshine and roses back then but can you imagine that long hiatus after Crossroads of Destiny with the nuance-lacking fandom culture of 2021? People would've died...
