The idea that Armin was the last to die (in old age of course) is tough to think about when you think about him traveling to different places with a small photo of Jean in his wallet. When he’s at a place he assumes Jean would like he props the photo up and takes a photo of Jean’s photo frame and the location/object… as time goes on however, the photo slowly begins to degrade and Armin’s heart begins to brake because it’s like he’s losing Jean all over again… to add salt to the wound, he begins to forget small things like Jean’s eye color, his favorite piece of art and some of their time spent together after everything. Eventually, he stops traveling and does his best to preserve what’s left of the photo, but due to his deteriorating memory, he sometimes

Eventually he stops going since the guilt eats at him too much and he can’t even look at anything regarding his time as a soldier, let alone say Jean’s name.
