Well-Organized Healthcare Reimbursements are Largely Dependent on Efficient Coding Analysis
The health of any physical practice is linked to a steady inflow of reimbursements, and what drives this inflow is accurate coding analysis. It’s that part of the revenue cycle that needs to be well lubricated in order for it to be constantly in motion. The process of reimbursement begins as soon as a patient with a health coverage policy contacts a hospital or clinical practice for the treatment of an illness.
Hereon, for the services rendered to the patient, and for the practice to get paid, the billing protocol has to be in accordance with a set of codes relevant to the disease diagnosed, procedures performed or treatment rendered. These are healthcare compliances mandated by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The federal agency, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) is the regulatory authority for medical coding.

The value-based reimbursement contract necessitates providers to improve on all aspects of organizational performance.
Lack of enthusiasm seems to have overtaken hospital CFO’s to manage the financial implications arising out of value-based reimbursement and care delivery models.
Kaufman Hall, the consulting firm in their recent survey approached several prominent CFOs and senior finance executives representing the healthcare industry to understand and know their performance management goals and challenges.
‘Off the 160 hospitals surveyed, only 13 percent of organizations were ready with plans to manage the unfolding payment and care delivery models using their current financial planning and processing tools’

Revenue cycle management is one of the core processes that can build or wreck a clinical practice. No matter how big or small a practice, RCM is like the pulse that always must beat. Practice owners are often confronted with situations when they realize that patient-care was falling into a state of neglect because a lot of their prime time was being spent on in-house revenue cycle management.
So here are some of the guidelines that can help in their decision making.

Recent changes in the healthcare industry have made CFOs and practice managers of healthcare organizations review their practice’s revenue cycle efficiency.
In order to help CFOs evaluate their organization’s performance, financial KPIs are used. Key Performance Indicators or KPIs help CFOs compare their healthcare organization’s performance to other organizations like theirs. So instead of just trying to fix something internally, looking at fellow organizations can help remove major flaws (if any) in the system.
‘To effectively track healthcare revenue cycle performance, provider organizations should develop key performance indicators (KPIs)’, advises Sandra Wolfskill, Director of Healthcare Finance Policy and Revenue Cycle MAP at the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
KPIs are usually used to measure an organization’s performance across different areas like operations, finance, etc.
But financial KPIs are used to evaluate an organization’s efficiency from a financial standpoint.
7 Financial KPIs every CFO must track:
1. Days Cash on Hand 2. Operating margin 3. Projections 4. Days in Accounts Receivable 5. Gross Collections Ratio 6. Claim denial rate 7. Bad Debts

Is it good to have a hospital's revenue cycle management outsourced? - BillingParadise
Tumblr media
Benefits of outsource your Hospital’s RCM operations! - The revenue cycle is a critical building block on which all transformation efforts rest. The relationship between revenue cycle vendors and hospitals has changed from a mere contractual relationship to a long-term partnership that will help them transition towards new payment models, experiment with revenue cycle tools and meet compliance demands.
But there is one piece of the puzzle that is forever missing. Transparency. Transparency is the cornerstone of any long term partnership but most healthcare organizations don’t have a clear window into their revenue cycle operations.
According to a survey by HIMSS analytics, 69% of healthcare organizations surveyed revealed that they used multiple vendor solutions to manage their revenue cycle.
This laundry list of systems adds to operational costs and makes monitoring the revenue cycle a nightmare.
To effectively contain costs and gain more transparency into operations it is imperative that hospitals partner with revenue cycle vendors who offer an integrated RCM solution that eliminates the need for multiple vendor systems. A culture of accountability has to be fostered to gain insights into the many moving parts of the revenue cycle structure.
What to look for while partnering with a revenue cycle management vendor?
To avoid the additional costs and headache of working with multiple systems hospitals must work with a revenue cycle vendor who offers a comprehensive set of revenue cycle and change management tools that offer enhanced reporting capabilities and big-picture insights, to read more

In this video, Teresa the office manager of an ob-gyn practice shares her wonderful experience of working with BillingParadise explains about the strategies followed to improve her bottom line and why she feels BillingParadise is a paradise for billing.
The video includes the concept of
Do you think BillingParadise understands ob-gyn specific billing guidelines?
Oh, very well. They understand the coding and the procedures that the doctors perform at the hospital and office, very familiar with the terminology.
How much has your ob-gyn center's revenue increased after working with us?
We definitely had seen an increase in revenue. Money coming quicker and everything happening fast and everything smooth. So BillingParadise has definitely has made my job lot easier to do. So I very happy.
BillingParadise is paradise for billing, definitely.
How proficient are we in working with the eClinicalWorks EHR?
So there is a big difference because the way we were doing it before was outside of the eClinicalWorks which are our electronic charting system. So now that we are billing in the charting system it’s just so much easier even to get paid. So payment is quicker, more thorough, there is just no – there are no hiccups. And if there was before it would just take more time to figure out where with the way that Billing Paradise works with us and our eClinical system.
It’s just, its smooth, it’s a smooth process, it’s easier, generates more income that we have noticed and definitely seeing an increase and happy patients as far as when they have to make payments.  Insurance companies, everything communicates really well together.
How would you rate Billing Paradise amongst other billing companies in Northern California?
I would rate them, I mean off the chart they are phenomenal billing company to work with. The company we were using before it’s like night and day, compare the two. I love the advanced technology and any interaction that I’ve had with Billing Paradise has always been positive and outcomes have always been positive.
What do you think about teambillingbridge – The revenue reporting and workflow management app?
I think they are definitely ahead of the curve. I like that they are advanced, they are definitely with the times. The Team Billing Bridge is going to be a nice way to communicate through their app, so we're just kind of softly getting introduced to this new technology and it is phenomenal like I am so excited about it.
How responsive is billing paradise’s team?
They are very responsive, easy to get in touch with, any questions that I have had I can relate, I have to go to representative William that I work a lot with.  And Maria also – our nurse practitioner and our certified midwife here, she works with him as well. Any coding or diagnosis or any – they are just – they are very easy to work with, there has not been that one issue that I can even think of.
Would you recommend Billing Paradise to your peers?
Absolutely, I would definitely recommend them.  I have recommended them and I think that Billing Paradise is the way to go as far as, you know – if, especially with paper – paperless charting that we do, it’s just easier to communicate with companies that know what they are doing and that are up with the times.  So yes if you want advanced technology with Billing, Billing Paradise is your go to.
Familiar with the paperless charting company that we use – so and many others as I have heard. So it was nice to just kind of jump right – right in and communicate through the patient portal and know exactly what terminology we are using.  We can totally relate as far as the company that we use for our paperless charting, they are very familiar with it and it works well with our billing, yeah.
