Status

Sleeping and general self-care has been going well for a few weeks now! And I’m mostly past deadlines, though… one of those is via missing the deadline and now just slowly poking away at the thoroughly belated task, hah. So. Still a bit of a time sink there.

I’m also still kind of trying to figure out time management. Turns out that sleeping… takes time, fff. And it also turns out that I can limit my time doing things like mindlessly scrolling tumblr and that does give me more time to do other, more meaningful, stuff, but… if I don’t still spend a good chunk of that time resting, I do in fact burn out by the end of a week. xD

So. Yeah. Going to start poking my head slowly back into rp, and I’m looking forward to it! But my general habits are still very much in flux and I can’t solidly predict how things will go yet. ^_^;

Success! I actually slept almost 8 hours every single night this past week, which is the best streak I’ve had since… fuck, probably since the last 10-day camping trip I took. So. Uh. 5 or 6 years ago. :’D

Success has been via harshly restricting the time I let myself spend online and on the computer, though. Plus I have some life deadlines coming up that are going to keep me very busy for the next week or two.

But! 😤 I want to write. So with any luck I’ll be poking my nose into replies sometime around the end of April or beginning of May.

In the mean time, I hope you’re all doing well!

Sorry for the radio silence! I have been dysfunctionally hyperfocused on something that, in the grand scheme of things, I’d really rather not be wasting my time on.

(If only I could convince my hindbrain of that. As it is, I keep acting as if it’s the most interesting thing I could possibly be doing all day. >_>;)

Anyway, the usual spiel. Attempting to get myself vaguely functional again, it’s an annoying cycle to haul myself out of every danged time, and I look forward to returning to reasonable amounts of sleep and actually-rewarding-hobbies like writing with y’all as soon as I’m victorious.

"I see." Clemcy studied the vampire for a moment, lips thin, weighing his options.

It wouldn't do to offend Archer's master; both for Clemcy's own sake, and because any resulting retribution would likely render Archer even less functional (and thus less useful) in the aftermath. Attigo clearly did not prioritize his servant's efficacy over his own personal satisfaction.

(Of course, in this case it was Clemcy dealing with the negative consequences. That might even be a perk, from Attigo's point of view. It certainly would have been for Clemcy, had the roles been reversed...)

Clemcy sighed irritably, glanced at their surroundings, and tilted his head towards where his vehicle and attendant driver sat idling at the edge of the park. "Come. Sit. I'd prefer you weren't quite so unduly distracted when I am attempting to brief you."

“It was a yes or no question,” he said, keeping his tone mild despite the irritation that flared at having to repeat himself. Archer would learn, or he wouldn’t. For now, Clemcy had to give him the chance to do so — it’d be an even greater waste of time to do otherwise.

“I accept deflection — when appropriate, of course — from enemies and marks. Part of the fun. However I do believe that you would prefer to be neither. Would you care to try again?”

Learning what the Master's wanted from him would take time. Filled with painful errors and overlapping conditions. What his Master Attigo wanted, seemed opposite of what Clemcy wanted. Archer had been trained to deflect and not bother with any truth. Attigo demanded the lies for his own satisfaction and comfort.

So this felt.... wrong. However, Archer was also a good servant and knew to do as he was told, even if it did feel wrong. He started to wring his hands together with that nervous energy and closed his eyes.

"No I do not want to be either. Yes I am... in pain. My Master has marked me and as punishment I am not to feed until he decides I have earned it. One of the reasons I am... here." If he could feed, the injuries would quickly evaporate.

There are actually quite a few reasons why Linast's clothing rarely lasts long, but getting sharp when agitated is certainly one of them.

Gave clip studio paint a try with Phosa's drawing! It's the first time in many years that I've used my old intuos tablet... between the two (re-)learning curves it was a bit of a struggle. :'D

Perhaps he was still feeling that exhaustion weighing heavily on his undead bones. Or that lack of feeding fueling the ache.

"Nothing unusual." He assured him through grit teeth and tight lips. "Please... I did not mean to interrupt... con-continue."

Linast gave a dull laugh, then hesitated, turning enough to glance up at Rhaya past the shelter of the hood of his cloak. "I — wait, are you sserious? Like — what, offering a ride?"

Did this woman actually want to help, or did she just want to find out where he was from? Linast had been brutally efficient in the scuffle they'd just resolved, more interested in ending it quickly and getting back out of the light than in keeping a low profile.

He turned away again, tugging his cloak more tightly about himself and hunching his shoulders against the aching burn that even the ambient light of the indirect sun induced.

"You don't... I was, uh. Just. Wishful thinking. Home's... a long way off. But — thanks." He sighed, a soft rush of static. “…if you know s-somewhere I could get out of the sun, though…?”

“I’m tired and I think I want to go home.” (From the sentence starters, maybe from either Linast or Oscar?)

At first she said nothing, staring down at the elemental with a face creased in apprehension. There was something about Linast that spurred an instinctive need to make sure he remained safe – or at least unharmed, and that urge alone was enough to make Rhaya uneasy. “Yeah– Okay, might be a bit tricky, but… sure,” she offered, not unkindly as she stepped up beside him to scan the horizon. “Can you, uh… point us in the right direction for that, by chance?” she ventured, aiming a sidelong glance his way before she turned to look over her shoulder. Some members of her crew were positioned behind them a distance away, busying themself with cleanup.

@archerwhiterp: 11. What events in their past helped shape and influence them into who they are today?

Diamond:

Diamond spiraled very, very badly after Clemcy murdered him in his first life. Reincarnation itself was a shock, he'd been betrayed and badly hurt, he'd lost everything and everyone he'd ever known, he'd lost any faith in his own judgement, and each new body was a new round of needing to find ways to manage his various disabilities and mental health issues with that body's new biochemistry.

He preferred not to be lucid, be that through death or drugs.

The first set of parents that managed to keep him from committing suicide by the time he was seven had a massive impact, both on his ability to find a functional way to live again and on his perspective on parenthood in general. He wouldn't have nearly the same level or flavor of Dad Energy that he has now without that experience.

Phosa:

Phosa views the reagent hunter's successful use of a plasma net to capture herself and Linast via their core as a personal failure on her part; she tried to block it but misjudged its composition. Linast protected their core well enough to keep it from cracking completely, even if he couldn't escape, but... in combination with some other stuff from their childhood, Phosa has been left with the instinctive conviction that protecting them hurts Linast more than it hurts her, and that he can't do as good of a job at it besides.

She's convinced that she needs to do it herself, and do it successfully.

Linast:

The entirety of that human incident has a massive impact on Linast, and not just for the traumatic exhaustion of it all. Before it, Linast followed certain moral notions like "don't kill people" mostly as a social contract, and because it was a way to set himself apart from Clemcy.

After, he has a much more visceral philosophical conviction to it... which is terrible timing, because that human incident leaves his self control in tatters and his instinct to lash out at people riding much closer to the surface. :')

Clemcy:

Clemcy's preference is to handle everything himself, trust no one, and denigrate everyone around him.

His experience -- namely, getting killed the first time -- has taught him that this is an excellent way to get stabbed in the back. He might not believe in love, so the question of whether it's better to be feared or loved is a moot point to him... but he has learned that it is very important to be needed.

His employee benefits are excellent. (He generally arranges things such that you need said benefits.)

Time’s been slipping away from me a fair bit; sorry for the radio silence!

On the brighter side of things, I’m sleeping a more reasonable amount again, and working towards a routine that will give me a bit more writing time. I’ll be pretty busy this week, but I’m hoping to poke my nose into some drafts this weekend. :)
