So it has been a ridiculously tough year, one of the hardest ones to date. But I always managed to pull through, no matter how hard it seemed to be. But when my father died in May I hit my ultimate low point. The man was just 47 years of age and died suddenly with no warning, leaving me to fend for myself in the unpredictable rip-tide of life. I contemplated killing myself, I truly did, and in a desperate search for inspiration and a deterrent from preforming the aforementioned deed I turned off all the lights in my house and sat alone in my room in the dark and I put my iPhone on shuffle. I skipped about 40 songs before reaching “Last Hope” and not thinking too much about it I tried to skipped it too, after about 3 seconds, but as if by some miracle I accidentally hit the AirPlay button and the song began playing from the sound-bar below my TV… I am a firm believer of fate, so I decided not to skip the song. As I listened to the lyrics, my eyes burning from copious amounts of crying, I found my inspiration to live my will to move on, my “spark.” That spark that was “enough to keep me going” so I walked through the house and began turning on the lights, because the darkness was from what I needed to escape. This song helped me exponentially, not only is it a reminder to everyone to find the happiness within all the bullshit that is life, but it’s also a message to those who are struggling to find the will to live. I miss my father intensely and I always will but now I know that no matter what is happening, there will ALWAYS be something, anything within me to help me push through.
