“I never need any help find the trashy romance novels,” Lainey said with a smile as she saw Macy. “But I had some time after my shift before picking up Bennett, so here,” she handed over one of the shakes that she had bought. “Take a break.”

Macy was cataloging a huge delivery to the book store. They had been swamped with everyone wanting summer reading so the orders coming in were bigger than they had been all year. “Just a second!” She yelled as she heard the bell ding and quickly ran from the back room. “Sorry, it’s just me today.
