Our story

Eremika on Chapter 4 and Levihan on Chapter 132. Both Ackermans put their left hand on Eren and Hange's chest.

Isayama could draw these different panels DIFFERENTLY, but he didn't. He drew the similarity on these panels with intention!

When doing the salute,

A soldier put their right hand on their chest, it means they're vowing to sacrifice their life while they put their left hand on their back.

(If the left hand is the representation of life, then that means they're setting their life aside/behind because their priority is to die for humanity's sake.)

Isayama could've drawn Levi on Hange's right side so Levi could use his right hand when he told Hange, "dedicate your heart." (as the right hand was necessary used for the salute).

But Isayama made Levi raised his left hand on Hange's chest and that made me think that what Levi actually wants to tell Hange that time was, "Don't die." 😭 (or if Isayama really did intend to represent left hand as soldier's life) then, Levi was telling Hange... "Here's my life, take it with you and please don't die. Comeback to me."

WHY CAN'T ISAYAMA JUST SPEAK UP THE TRUTH AND TELL EVERYONE THAT LEVIHAN IS CANON LIKE EREMIKA INSTEAD OF TEASING US ABOUT HOW THESE SHIPS PARALLEL EACH OTHER???

Levihan really just makes so much sense than any other ships. Levihan deserve more love and importance 🤧💜💚

"Isso Futaride Kokode Kurasouka" (IFKK < if you saw jp fans talk about IFKK, they are referring to this line)

In Jp culture, this is a subtle proposal line and have romantical meaning, in my opinion the speaker (Hange) definitely has some feeling for the listener (Levi), otherwise they wouldn't say that. But Levihan is complicated, they love each other, there's no doubt, but no only the romantical one, also as family, friend, comrade. I can't describe their relationship accurately tbh, maybe platonic but I think they are more than that. Instead of whether this line have romantical feeling, I think the point is Hange wants to spend the rest of her life with Levi, it means much more than just romance.

Especially Hange said "Fataride" (Just the two of us), only her and Levi, no other ppl. In 127 Hange spoke to Jean,

"I wanted to run away, abandon everything, forget everything and live"

“すべて” = Everything, she just said in 126 she wanted to live with Levi, so Levi was not included in the "everything" Hange wanted to abandon and forget. She already counted Levi as a part of herself.

I have read a jp LH fans analysis after 139, she said she was a bit shock because the relationship between LeviHange and 104 is not as close as she expected, but it makes what Hange said more sense. After RtS, it was always the two of them, except Levi needed to babysitting Zeke which seperate them, almost in every flashback we can saw them together. So not only for Hange, Levi also, the idea of "just the two of them" is a consensus between them. Levi never came to sth like "why do you save me" shit, because as soon as Hange found him in 115, he knew Hange will save him and will not abandon him. Hange in 132 also knew Levi wanted to stop her, that’s why she tried to avoid Levi after she decided to take down the wall Titan.

For Levi, he didn't reject Hange's feeling in the forest. Levi only said it is not the time for them to run away, they still have their responsibility. He thinks it is not the right timing, but he didn't say anything about "Just the two of us", because they both take it as a matter of course.

Some ppl said Levi was rejected Hange indirectly, but I don't think so (as I am a shipper). Because there's no need for Levi to reject, he can just ignore it, pretend he didn't know anything. But he especially brought out IFKK, while Hange also mentioned Ackerman and Sannes. In smartpass AU Hange's interview (if I remember it correctly), Hange said Levi always listens to her titan talk and will give response properly. Put it in 126 situation, I think Levi wanted to let Hange knew he already thought and consider about "living here tgt" but now is not the right timing for us to do that. According to jp fans, they think "the unrequited love for titan" in 132 is Levi's answer for Hange's feeling.

Below is just my headcanon, what make Levihan move out from the forest was Eren's declaration. If not because of Eren, Levi will continue pretending to be asleep, thus they can stay with each other a little bit longer. If Levi wanted to kill Zeke so bad, he will not pretend to be asleep but ask where's Zeke immediately once he was conscious. So he probably think it was not bad to stay with Hange in the forest like this until he heard Eren and realized the world will be destroyed, it was not the time for them to stay in the forest anymore.

8) ISAYAMA'S ENDING FOR LEVIHAN

On the manga, Levi was sitting on a wheelchair and he's with Gabi, Falco and Onyakopon

Levi was holding a magazine/newspaper(?) in his hand, but instead of looking at it, his eye was looking at the plane above them... remembering Hange.

In Isayama's draft for this panel, the sketch for the plane was different. But Isayama redraw it to a similar flying boat that Hange protected. Isayama also crossed out the dialogue that says, 'The pain that we feel' and changed it to, 'The story we sought after'

Can't imagine how painful it is for Levi, losing everything and Hange 😢💔 (If only I could, I would give him a hug...)

On the anime, Mappa changed Levi's ending into Levi distributing candies to the children. When he saw a round lollipop, he blinked because he remembered someone.

He remembered Hange and the day they visited Marley with the kids...

Isayama and Mappa were trying to tell and show us that in whatever endings, Levi will always end up thinking about Hange.

Just how can he even forget the person who saved his life? The wounds that Hange treated before might've already healed, but he would always remember her by his scars.

Afterall, Levi spent more of his days with Hange than anyone else. Hange truly played a big and important role in Levi's life 🤧

9) IS LEVIHAN CANON?

Even without statement and confirmation from Isayama-sensei, I firmly believe that Eremika and Levihan are both canon.

There's a lot of evidence that proves their relationships are parallel to each other.

Just like Eren and Hange are both obsessed with Titans. Eren wants to kill titans while Hange wants to learn and study them.

Levi can recognize Hange by her knock while Mikasa can recognize Eren by only sensing him.

When Eren asked Mikasa, "What do you think about me?" Mikasa replied, "You're a family".

When Hange asked Levi, "Maybe we should just live here together. What do you think, Levi?" Levi replied, "If we just run away and keep on hiding, what will we have left?"

Both Mikasa and Levi lost Eren and Hange because they chose to say a safer answer. Had they answered differently and truthfully that time, then maybe they never lose them.

I think that's what really Ackermans are. They are physically strong, but they are not good in expressing their feelings through words. (They only show it through their actions)

When they bid a farewell to the love of their life. They didn't say, "Good-bye," ... But instead, they told them, "See you," / "See you later,"

They believe that they would see them again, in a place where there is no more war, no more pain, no more tears, no more regrets... A place where they can be happy together. A place where they could finally get the happy ending both Eremika and Levihan deserve <3

Bonus:

Isayama himself wrote, "Levihan" instead of writing it as "Levi and Hange" so he would lie if he'll say that he doesn't agree with Levihan ship 💜💚🤭

Her eyes, his tears

The way they only showed Hange's saddened eyes and the top half of her face, and only focused on Levi's tear and the bottom half of his face... They really are halves of a whole, always completing each other.

7) DID LEVI CRY FOR HANGE? (Part 2)

On the last chapter, after Mikasa killed Eren and the powers of titans disappear from the world... Erwin, Hange and the other soldiers appeared in front of Levi.

Can we not ignore the fact that Hange's expression here is different from the others?She looks relieved seeing Levi's fine, but her eye looks like she's guilty and sad for leaving Levi too </3

During the last salute, Levi was looking at Hange's hand (as we can see that it was her hand which the animation focused to)

Levi didn't cry when he lost his squad, Kenny, Erwin, and the other soldiers who died years ago. What he felt that time is anger, that's why he stick to his goal to kill Zeke as he believed that killing the beast titan and saving the humanity would bring justice to all the lives that his friends and comrades sacrificed.

But on this part, Levi's tear fell. And it's not because of relief that everything is finally over. His tear fell because of pain.

Pain that he lost ALL his friends... including Hange.

If we would think of another scenario, and Hange was beside Levi when their friends appeared, do you think Levi would cry?

I don't think so. If Hange also survived the rumbling, I'm pretty sure that she would be the one who'll be in tears and she would also try to run to Erwin and Moblit to give them a last hug.

Makes me conclude that Levi's tear falling down from his eye was not only because of pain for the soldiers who lost their lives...

But because the only person who made him feel safe by hugging him in their arms besides Kuchel, also left him.

Bonus: I'm gonna add these Isayama's draft from the last salute panels... (truth be told, Isayama really meant Hange to stand out on this part. She's the last one who disappeared 😭 and as soon as she does, a tear fell from Levi's eye)

7) DID LEVI CRY FOR HANGE? (Part 1)

This is just based on my own observation after reading the last chapters of aot manga and watching MAPPA's animation. If you have different opinion/observation about it, please let me know~

So, we all know that before the end of chapter 132, Hange sacrificed herself to buy time for the plane/flying boat to safely take off when the Rumbling was about to reach them.

She knew it would be her end so she appointed Armin as the 15th commander of The Survey Corps and bid good-bye to everyone...

Levi was against it.

Hange know that Levi was going to stop her, so without looking at his eyes... she asked him, "Please let me go..."

Isayama drew Levi's sad eye THREE TIMES to show and tell us that Levi, really doesn't want to let Hange gooo 😭😭

But he raised his hand to put it on Hange's chest, telling her, "Dedicate your heart" which made Hange startled because it's the first time Levi said it.

We know that Levi doesn't mean it. Because whenever he made up his mind to let something or someone go, HE LOOKS AT THEM IN THE EYES

Just like the time when Levi told Erwin to give up on his dreams and die, Levi was staring at him directly.

But when he told Hange to give her heart, he can't even look at her. Because the truth is... he really doesn't want to let Hange go.

Even when the plane/flying boat started to take off, Levi can't look outside the window to watch Hange fighting the Colossal Titans.

"...See you, Hange. Watch over us."

Levi didn't cry, but he's holding his hands together with a very sad expression. I think one of the reasons why he didn't look at Hange outside was because if he look at her dead body, he might not take it and break down...

6) DOES LEVI HAS FEELINGS FOR HANGE?

When Hange asked Levi to live with her in the forest together, Levi didn't answer and continued to pretend he's unconscious.

When Eren talked to all the Eldians informing them about his plan, Levi got reminded by his goal to kill the Beast Titan so the first thing that came out from his mouth was, 'Where is that piece of shit, Zeke?'

Hange knew that they can't win against Zeke even if they'd fight him together, so she tried to comfort Levi, but her words was cut off when Levi told her, "if we just run away and keep on hiding... what will we have left?" / "What's left... If we run and hide like this..."

Levi (actually) didn't dislike the idea of living together with Hange. He didn't reject her. But they vowed to dedicate their hearts to sacrifice their lives for humanity... He's the captain and she's the commander. The kids still need their guide and help to stop Eren from his plan. When he saw the 'project' Hange was making, he immediately understood that Hange is not the type of a person who can stay still outside the action.

So instead of running away, they both chose to continue fighting and focus on their goals.

How do Levi see Hange? Is she really just a close friend for him?

Levi didn't express his feelings for her through words until chapter 132...

I heard Levi's words here became a hot topic to Japanese fans because Isayama changed the kanji word used for 'love' into a more romantic meaning and Levi was trying to tell Hange here that her love for titans are unrequited, but Hange's love for him is requited. (Yes, he did intend to say that Hange has feelings for him. Which makes me believe more that Hange asking him to live with her in the forest is really a confession.)

I'm not Japanese, but I don't need to be a Japanese to notice the sadness in Levi's eyes when Hange tried to change the topic.

There's a long pause (six dots) after Hange changed the topic. If we consider the possible thought that Levi (indeed) confessed his feelings for Hange in this chapter, then we can assume that the long pause was because he's hurt... because Hange ignored his confession 💔

To summarize and explain it in more simpler way, this is the possible conclusion for Levihan's relationship.

-Hange confessed to Levi in chapter 126.

-Levi responded to her confession, telling her that her love for him is requited (unlike her undying love for titans) in chapter 132.

-Hange had a long pause after hearing it (probably shock or something). Levi also had a long pause and he got sad/hurt when Hange changed the topic and ignored his confession...

Again, this is just a possible conclusion, and it's up to you whether to believe it or not.

Hiroshi Kamiya, (Levi's va) wrote "aishiteru/I love you" below his signature on Romi Park's (Hange's va) script book. Given that Hange's va is already married, then that "I love you" was possibly meant for Hange, and Hiroshi wrote it on behalf of Levi.

Also, I won't shut up about how beautiful Hange is from Levi's point of view

If Isayama would say that Levi doesn't have any love interest to anyone, then how can he explain this?

Levi stealing glances to Hange in official arts. I think Isayama doesn't need to confirm anything because Levi's eyes already said it all 💚💜

5) DOES HANGE HAS FEELINGS FOR LEVI?

In Chapter 115 of the Manga, we can see how worried Hange was for Levi.

Levi got caught and blown by the explosion of the thunder spear causing him to lose 2 of his fingers and got badly injured and wounded. He's bathing with his own blood and barely breathing/alive.

When Floch said that they're going to shoot Levi on his head, Hange lied by saying Levi is already dead... (look at the way she held Levi's head! 😭😭 She held him like he's the most fragile thing in the world.)

Her reaction when Floch told her he's going to check/confirm by himself if the captain is really dead or not. She looks mad and worried at the same time. Luckily, Floch and the other Yeagerists' attentions was moved to Zeke who just recovered his whole body, Hange took that chance to risk everything and take Levi to a safe place with her.

In chapter 126, Hange shot her comrades who's pursuing them in order to protect Levi. Her tears were falling down because she doesn't want to kill them, but had Hange hesitated to do it, Levi will be the one who'd get killed. She killed her comrades before they could kill Levi to keep him safe.

She treated his wounds and talked to him though she knew he's unconscious.

"I'd rather the two of us to just live here. Right, Levi?"

Just by looking at Hange's eye before she said those words, you can see and feel her sincerity. She doesn't said it as a joke as she doesn't have time to do it. AND SHE THOUGHT LEVI WAS SLEEPING so she just let those words out—to pour her real feelings out. There are panels where Hange said she's tired and she admitted it herself when she talked with Mikasa and Jean, telling them she's serious about wanting to run away from her responsibilities... But she doesn't want to run away... alone.

She wants Levi to run away with her.

Singers like IU wrote songs about wanting to run away with their lover... The lyrics goes like, "Dearest, Darling, My Universe, will you take me with you?" "Far in the Universe, from Earth to Mars, could you come with me?"

I do believe that Hange meant to say those words to Levi as a confession. Because if she doesn't mean it in a romantic way, why would she blush after she found out that Levi heard her?

Is it because she's shy that Levi heard her talking to herself? They are close friends, so what's there to be shy about? Whatever the reason was, it just proves that she cares about what Levi would think about her.

Which is really ironic because Hange isn't the type of a person who cares about what others would think about her. But she cares about how Levi would think of her because she has romantic feelings for him.

1) lying to protect that person

3) killing your comrades in order to keep that person safe

3) DOES LEVI GET WORRIED ABOUT HANGE?

Absolutely Yes. He got worried about her a lot of times.

While rescuing Eren and Historia who got kidnapped, Hange got stabbed on her shoulder and fell down with a loud thud. Levi looks at her with a worried look and it angers him seeing Hange in such state. He also asked Armin to take care of Hange 🤧 (on the anime, he asked Moblit and Armin to take Hange out of that place so she won't get more hurt)

Also when they were about to retake the Wall Maria, there's a loud explosion caused by Bertholdt transforming into his Colossal form.

Levi asked if Hange and others managed to dodge it. He's worried about Hange and her squad 🥺

It's obvious that he's dead worried about her. He even said "...I better hurry up and go to their side..." but he ended up fighting the Beast Titan instead as Erwin's request.

Also, the first time they saw the sea, instead of getting amazed by it, Levi decided to stay close behind Hange to check up on her because he knew that she easily got fascinated by anything and she might get hurt/be in danger because of her curiousity.

Levi knows Hange well. He knew she won't hesitate to pick and examine (what she saw) so he told her not to touch it as it could be poisonous. JUST SEE HOW DEAD WORRIED HE IS FOR HANGE.

to the point that he also bathes her because he wants her fresh and clean 💜💚

This is just an addition, but there's an official art of Hange dragging Levi to the sea and Levi just letting her do it. (Notice that his cloak was removed like he's so ready to join and play with the sea water with her) THEY ARE SO ADORABLE!!! 😭 I can't help but smile thinking that Levi let Hange hold him like that ^^
