playoff hockey is also that wonderful time when coaches show how much of big piss babies they are by refusing to do the handshake line post-game after losing, and then claiming "I didn't know this was a thing" despite *checks notes* having coached in the league since 2011.
playoff hockey; that wonderful time when 7th ranking regular season team eliminates the 2nd ranking team with 4-1 series win. ❤️
go ahead, take your picks. one winner out of each pity playoff matchup. lukko (8.), tps (9.) or sport (10.) to meet tappara, and kalpa (7.), lukko (8.) or tps (9.) to meet ilves, depending on ranking. (higher for ilves and lower for tappara)

Not going to lie, Espoo has a little crappy history in the league as former Espoo based team Blues went bankrupt. But ever since the formation of the new Kiekko-Espoo organisation that currently plays in Mestis, they have kept working towards making their way back to the first-tier league.
Liiga doesn't have relegation system, and obviously NHL style expansions aren't a thing, so Kiekko-Espoo had to meet all sorts of requirements, and send in an application to join the league.
They were already granted "a restricted license" earlier this season by the league. Which had some requirements, including the amount of the Liiga share and payment plan.
Today, they announced they will officially be joining Liiga next season.
Excuse me, our mans holds the record for the longest shutty in Liiga, so you gonna have to find another word than career. Dude already has 7 shutouts in pro, probably more if AHL could list them on his stats page.
