you know i have never heard a convincing arguement as to why AO3 should not moderate the content that is posted to their website and i think a lot of the arguement against moderation on AO3 boils down to, terminally online people thinks community moderation is the same as government censorship and personally sending the cops to someone’s house to arrest them irl/

OOO lets talk about how aegon is the son viserys wanted, but viserys feels too guilty about killing aemma so he devotes all his time to rhaenyra. meanwhile rhaenyra hates aegon because he is the son viserys wanted, but at the same time she feels suffocated by viserys's twisted love. she knows that her being a woman in westeros means people would never take her seriously as heir and she tries so desperately to fix that. meanwhile aegon doesn't want anything to do with the iron throne, but he becomes king because he loves his family. because he is meant to protect them.

aegon is the son viserys killed aemma for, but he will never be rhaenyra.

rhaenyra is viserys's favorite, but she will never be a man.

hate daemon targaryen and everything but i had some thoughts: in some ways, daemon and rhaenyra wanted to be the other's gender.

rhaenyra desperately wanted to be treated the same as men are in westeros: she wanted to be taken seriously, wanted her claim to the throne be acknowledged and validated, etc etc. to the point that she even starts treating other people the same way, specifically criston. she belittles him and rejects him, treating him, a man, the same way as any other man would treat her, a woman. she's hates being a woman so much she reverses the gender roles to the point where she becomes the thing she hated in the first place.

on the other hand, daemon is... well, daemon is a renowned fighter. he's known as the 'rogue prince' (which is a badass title ngl no matter how much i hate him), and he wields dark sister, the same sword wielded by visenya the conqueror, but he can never really be her. he's not a woman. he can't give viserys the son he so desperately wants, he can't be what visenya was to aegon. he wants to recreate the same glory given to the targaryens but he can't do that because he's not a woman. he can never give his brother a son.

no fr, who gives a shit? if y'all think that rhaenyra's deeply traumatized son inheriting the throne as Aegon iii (meaning : there was an aegon ii), having a miserable life and dying in his 30's is this great big win for the blacks... then ok, they won i guess. rhaenyra & daemon died. most of rhaenyra's children died. the entire green bloodline died (and no, it's really not the win y'all think it is. it's sad and tragic). all of aegon ii young innocent children died. almost all of the targs dragons were killed, and the dynasty never recovered. yes, f&b is about misogyny, but it's also about the pointlessness of war. it's about a family with too much power that can't help but destroy each other - they literally have a dragon named cannibal who feeds off other dragons and can't be tamed - AND Y'ALL STILL DON'T GET IT???? like come on, it's not even subtle. this idea that a war can be honorable or rightful goes against the entire point of asoiaf. and the thing is, the targs literally go on to have another bloody succession war a couple of decades later because that's who they are!!! there is no lesson to be learned. there is no happy ending.
