There's the echo / development with Tozer grabbing a weapon in ep5 and the skin on his hand peeling off and being bloody. I think this a development of not only "damn it's cold" but "this place wants us dead." Like the coldness, the wind, these intangible things, are having a very real physical effect on their bodies. Plus in both these cases it's to do with Tuunbaq. Their efforts to take care of themselves and attack the creature are causing them physical injury.
too tired to be more eloquent lmao there's my two cents
Hey terror folks, can anyone remind me if there’s special significance to the moment in the third episode where Crozier is using the telescope and it rips some skin off from near his eye
Like does it come back later or is it just a strange moment

And for the fitzier fic version of this!
I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world’s largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

“no matter how badly you think you’re doing it, someone else has done it a lot worse and been fine” is applicable to a wide, wide range of things and i say it to myself all the time

“Like Sir John Franklin himself, his ships had already been tested by disastrous experiences during polar expeditions, where they and their crews had endured extreme danger, and had shown that they were exceptionally resilient. They were generally thought to be ideal for the expedition. HMS Terror was launched in 1813 and HMS Erebus in 1826. Both had been strongly built in the first place, as bomb vessels, to take the weight and withstand the recoil of large mortars, used mainly for coastal bombardment. Their formidable names (’Erebus’ signifies the darkness at the entrance to Hell) were intended to strike fear into the enemy” - Gillian Hutchinson, Sir John Franklin’s Erebus and Terror Expedition: Lost and Found
