It was honestly hilarious watching your 180º with Malfurion. I still love the senile comics, you were hilariously mean to him but now watching you be truly invested in them is :3
Also send my regards to your dwarfaboo nelf.

hey i hope it's ok for me to ask your opinion on this but like, as someone who hasnt touched WoW since bfa, do you think it's worth actually getting back into playing rn for the Dragon Lore??
Nah def not for lore. DF was a welcome change post BFA+Slands suffering, but it's been very "I have no strong feelings one way or the other". Like, not just my reaction but the characters seemed like they felt that way too lol? Nothing really grabbed my attention. There were 4 bad protodragons, we killed 2, one Enough'd and went away, one joined our side. And our dragons I think got aspect powers again? idk

Interestingly Thura did get added to the game for the orc heritage questline. They should honestly do stuff with her tbh, she is full do gooder, but also just a very young orcish meathead who is a badass. I feel like she'd be perfect for the "everyone is paragon only now" style of game they're going for now and still be fun.
Part of the charm of stormrage to me is Thura and Tyrande are the same character lol, it's just one is in night elf priestess packaging and one is in orc warrior packaging. I don't know that this is an intentional dichotomy as it's not explicitly stated by an author who seems to be outright offended by the idea of "show don't tell"... but whatever, doesn't make it not true

was looking through some of your old art and the nelf trio tags and saw you mention "But I s2g I can’t help thinking about if Illidan ends up being treated better overall by the narritive than Sylvanas I’m gonna hulk out or something" so i'm curious how you feel with where we are currently!
hahaha yeah, ok went back and found it- that was from the very beginning of BFA (it launched in August 2018 and this post was in November2018). So.. yeah I mean, today I think Illidan's treatment in game is easily one of the best- maybe the actual best in the whole series?? So it's a hilariously ironic thing to have hoped for. Like if I had said "oh boy, I can't wait to see what kind of character growth Varian gets!" at the beginning of Legion.
At the time I was thinking like, ok well Illidan was a villain that gets defeated in BC, but that obviously wasn't the end of his story, and he didn't die or lose who he was... then he got to come back and be a super fun main character of a successful expac.. surely they know how to use a very similar headliner big $$ character in the same way?
And then I basically just spent the next 5 years like
as Sylvanas just got ground to dust. And I feel like I did do lots of hulking out lmao.
That post was also the original senile Malf comic which I enjoy very much bc
How I draw Malfurion when I thought he was just a male power fantasy gary stu in a chemistryless pairing with Prize Woman that he randomly spoke rudely to that one time (but has funny wizard voice):
How I draw Malfurion now that I know he is a sweet nerd-himbo just trying his best and who blushes and cries over his wife

Lol ok so for Warcraft lite ppl- last art post was from Stormrage which took place after Wrath and before Cataclysm. So it's old stuff. The actual recent canon events for Tyrande and Malf was just that all their bad storylines from the past 3 expacs were mercifully wrapped up with a very cute and happy ending and they are retired now.
Spark notes for Stormrage is: Xavius is the nightmare lord, he's spreading the Nightmare out of the Dream and into the real world which is giving everyone nightmares and manifesting nightmare creatures everywhere, and he's captured Malfurion in the emerald nightmare who Tyrande has to go rescue, but he was rly just bait for Ysera.
If this sounds familiar, it's because the plot of Val'shara in Legion is literally just the plot of Stormrage repeated but worse.
Also if you've ever seen ppl talk about how badass "book malfurion" is they're probably talking about this book bc he has double dmg basically because the dream and the real world are merging, but the real Uhm Ackshually is that it's both him and Tyrande putting their powers together and they win bc they wuv each other soooo much uwwwwu 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖

I think Edge of Night is actually quite good for her character, and I think the way that story should and really HAS to be read is that previously, she was just in it to get Arthas. And post Arthas, post realization that revenge isn't going to make her feel better, and dying isn't going to make her feel better....she actually does shift her view of the Forsaken to be more of a 'we're in this together' sort of view.
Ofc, her inner monologue is still very detached emotionally, but literally the ending of the story is her telling garrosh to fuck himself, the Forsaken aren't fodder for him to throw in front of his own troops. And she expresses pride at how the Forsaken have grown. B-BUT ITS NOT LIKE I LIKE THEM OR ANYTHING is how her inner dialogue reads as to me. Maybe that wasn't their intention, but if it wasn't that's their fuck up because that version is good and is what makes the most sense.
I think it's fine for Sylvanas to have been so consumed with getting revenge on Arthas that, upon discovering his death doesn't actually bring her any relief from the pain, she just says fuck it and jumps. I think that's an ok low for her to hit, and I think it's fine for her to frame her view of the Forsaken as her bulwark against the infinite darkness and not as something she's just doing out of the goodness of her heart.
Said it before but Sylv's ideal relationship with the forsaken is Bad News Bears. She makes them because she has to, she doesn't care, but then she grows to care, but still acts like she doesn't care because caring is fake and gay ™

Ohhh ok thanks haha. Yeah, I think I would have to disagree too...I guess it's mayyybe possible to have Sylvanas burn the tree *on purpose* and not ruin her character, but it would still have to be WAY different from what all went down in bfa. I still remember being super excited to watch Warbringers, then it comes out, I like watch it at work.. and I just can't focus for the rest of the day, I'm just
lmao.
Well the undead killing part would've been an accident. They were just making a super healing salve as far as they knew. But as there's not a ton of undead druids, they don't know this until they've already created some amount. They just eventually discover this property, and yeah, even if the druids themselves were totally super nice and good and were like 'omg! this is dangerous', the rest of the night elves would be like UPUPUP....hold on now, lol. It IS quite good for everyone BUT undead, and they dunno the future... it would be an excellent thing for an Arthas 2.0, or ya know.. if the Horde ever got super out of line. I think that'd be some proper nelf edginess, which still wouldn't justify Sylvanas's taking of the tree. It just gives her a reason, as opposed to Literal-Who Night Elf Said I Can't Kill Hope, Yolo, Also Jailer Made Me Do It.
