I'm slowly stitching together a story with Ghost in the Machine (the fic for Jade, my Ghostbusters OC). I might write an intro chapter, post it, and see if there's any interest.

Phoebe walked quickly through the halls of the Paranormal Research Center, taking a quick look at the ghosts currently contained to see if there were any new ones. Last time, she saw the eel that was tormenting local power plants, but in its place was someone resting inside and hooked up to a monitor. Phoebe frowned at the sight, but before she could get a closer look, she heard footsteps. She turned to see Lars approaching her quickly, as if he was in a hurry. “Hello, Phoebe,” he greeted, ushering her away from the cell before she got too suspicious. “Did you bring those calculations we discussed?” Phoebe held up her computer drive, containing her research on spirit extraction. Ever since she performed it on herself and freed Garraka, trying to understand what happened was her way to cope. And today, it looked like her work was being put to use. She plugged in the drive and pulled up her notes, using past data from her own extraction, then turned to him. “Here’s what I have, can I ask why you needed this right away?” she asked. Phoebe was always happy to help out her fellow Ghostbusters, but she couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong after what she saw in the cell. And when the ghost of a woman in a PRC uniform materialized, her suspicions were confirmed. Phoebe adjusted her glasses to get a better look at her. “This is Jade Costas, one of our engineers, and the second human to have been subjected to spirit extraction,” Lars explained. Jade just nodded her head in greeting, a blank expression on her face as she sat in a nearby office chair. Phoebe leaned closer in concern, she could tell this wasn’t on purpose based on what he said. “Are you okay? What happened?” she asked. Jade shrugged nonchalantly. “I’m whatever, you can’t exactly feel anything like this.” Her voice was becoming clearer, without the echo caused by traveling different planes. “An electric eel ghost threw me in the extractor, turned it on, then stole the battery,” she explained as if it were just a normal occurence. Phoebe winced a little, remembering how painful it was to have her soul ripped from her body, Jade’s experience sounded much worse. Lars sighed as he finished looking over the notes and comparing it to his own. “Just as I suspected, why we can’t just build another battery,” he began to explain, looking down at Jade with a sense of dread in his eyes. She raised an eyebrow, silently telling him to go on. Phoebe looked at the floor, knowing this wasn’t going to be easy to hear. He reached out his hand for a moment, wanting her to know she could rely on him after this, but then he remembered she wouldn’t be able to feel. “After a certain amount of time, about 72 hours, your body will begin the process of death and this will become irreversible.”
