T. rex Madness Final! Fossil Specimen (Black Beauty: RTMP 81.6.1) vs. Fossil Specimen (Sue FMNH PR 2081)
Tumblr media
Fossil Specimen (Black Beauty: RTMP 81.6.1) – Black Beauty, discovered in 1980, is distinguished both by its striking appearance and by being the first T. rex specimen to receive a nickname. It is on display at the Royal Tyrell Museum in Alberta, Canada and has replica casts around the world.
Tumblr media
Fossil Specimen (Sue FMNH PR 2081) – Arguably the most famous of all T. rex specimens. Discovered in 1990 through impressive luck and observation by the fossil’s namesake, Sue Hendrickson, Sue is also one of the best T. rex fossils, being 90% complete by bulk. Following a lengthy dispute over ownership, Sue was put up for auction, inciting fears that the fossil would end up in a private collection. With the help of various donors, Sue was purchased by the Field Museum in Chicago, and has been a fixture there ever since. Sue’s bones show signs of various injuries, including a parasitic infection in the skull. In 2018, Sue was moved to a new room at the Field Museum, featuring an updated assembly and an informational exhibit featuring the world in which Sue lived.

T. rex Madness Semi-Final: Fossil Specimen (Sue FMNH PR 2081) vs. Prehistoric Planet (Flirt Man)
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Prehistoric Planet (Flirt Man) – Standing in contrast with Hank, and having no commonly used fan-nickname, Flirt Man is an older, single T. rex just minding his own business, cleaning his wounds after a narrow victory over a Triceratops, when a female of his kind appears on the scene. Prehistoric Planet excels at showing varied behaviors and avoiding unnecessary dino fights, and this scene is no exception. Rather than coming to blows, the older male presents his neck and courts the female instead and, based on his impressive battle scars, she accepts his offer. Thus, a new generation of T. rexes will be born. No doubt, Flirt Man will have his own adventures in fatherhood in the months to come.

T. rex Madness Semi-Final: Fossil Specimen (Black Beauty: RTMP 81.6.1) vs. Jurassic Park (Rexy)
Jurassic Park (Rexy) – The legend, the icon. Rexy appears in more Jurassic Park movies than any other individual dinosaur, and for good reason. In the original film, if the raptors demonstrated the fearsomeness of non-avian dinosaurs and the Brachiosaurus the wonder and majesty, Rexy managed to capture both. Whether she’s chasing the heroes, fighting off a pack of raptors, or having a showdown with a rival giant predator, Rexy will always have a special place in the hearts of anyone who loves dinosaurs.

T. rex Madness Round 4: The Land Before Time (Chomper) vs. Prehistoric Planet (Flirt Man)
Tumblr media
The Land Before Time (Chomper) – Chomper is generally considered to be the sixth member of the main group in the Land Before Time series. In the second film, the gang mistakenly rescue his egg from Ozzy and Strut, a pair of egg-stealing Struthiomimus. When he hatches, Littlefoot and the others treat him as one of their own and introduce him to a diet of insects, rather than other dinosaurs. After saving his friends from Ozzy and Strut, Chomper leaves with his parents, but this would not be the final goodbye. Chomper proved popular with audiences and returned for two later movies, as well as the Land Before Time TV series.

Fossil Specimen (Rexy AMNH 5027) – AMNH 5027, colloquially known as “Rexy,” has been a fixture of the American Museum of Natural History for over a century. Rexy was discovered in 1908 by Barnum Brown and was the first specimen to provide a complete skull and neck vertebrae, thus advancing our knowledge of T. rex. Besides its value to science and the museum, this specimen also served as the inspiration for the skeletal T. rex in the Jurassic Park logo, as well as the animated T. rex skeleton in the Night at the Museum series.

Tumblr media
Night at the Museum (Rexy) – Based on the real T. rex fossil at the American Museum of Natural History, Rexy proves to be far more animated than night security guard Larry Daley had expected. Fortunately, Rexy is more fun-loving than dangerous and is happy to play fetch with one of his own ribs.

Dinosaur Island (2014/2015) – Like just about any story set in a lost world of living non-avian dinosaurs, this film features a Tyrannosaurus chasing the human leads. What distinguishes this T. rex, however, is that it is the first time the species is depicted in a feature film with feathers, which is just neat.

First off, love the URL
Second, there are 14 Land Before Time movies. I'm not even kidding. I've only seen up through 7, but yes, there are some good songs. Number 5 in particular has some great songs and it's the first where Chomper comes back
