eddie frowned at the voice that broke through his concentration, holding back the urge to jump in his seat. huddled over a miniature with a paintbrush in hand, he hadn't noticed anyone even walking up. though, in his defense, not many people in the trailer park tended to pay him too much mind. usually, he had free reign over this particular picnic table for most of the day. it made for a decent enough desk, and the paint dried faster in the sun.

looking over his shoulder he did his best not to look as startled as he felt, and was surprised to find a pair of large, innocent-looking eyes staring his way. the young pre-teen girl gazed at his unfinished work in curiosity, but he couldn't get passed his own confusion. ❝ whaaaat... are you doing here... child... ? ❞ he questioned slowly, unsure of who she was. he hadn't seen her come around before.

he glanced from her to the miniature, and then back again, before leaning away to give her a full view of the piece. ❝ you familiar with this ? ❞ he asked, pointing the end of his brush at the half-painted monster. it was a beholder, a nasty round thing with many eyes. he wasn't much of an artist, but so far it hadn't come out too terrible. it was supposed to be kinda ugly anyway. ❝ you should be careful. — you get too close it might hypnotize you. ❞ he wiggled his fingers at her for emphasis.

oh, was the glaze that had slowly begun to form over eddie's eyes that noticeable? blinking, he gave robin a wide tight smile, a hand curling under his chin as he leaned towards her in mock interest. ❝ SORRY, ❞ he said not sounding sorry at all. ❝ just a little hard to find the need to pay attention when you've been talking in circles for — ooooooooooh ❞ he pretended to check his watch, and then reel back in shock. ❝ forty-eight minutes of my life i'll never get back ! ❞

he was being dramatic of course, and a bit of an ass... but patience wasn't necessarily his bread and butter most of the time. besides, he had come to know robin a bit, and she didn't really seem like she was really talking about what was truly on her mind. he had let her ramble on for a good while, but it didn't really seem like it was going anywhere.

turning away from the campaign notes he'd been working on before she showed up, he faced her completely and leveled her with an expectant look as he leaned back in his seat. ❝ what are you looking for ? — advice ? i thought that was you and harrington's thing ? ❞

oh yeah, harrington sounded sooooo convincing. it took everything in eddie not to roll his eyes so hard that they'd fall out of their sockets. he found himself staring a steve with the most unconvinced expression he could muster, his eyes narrowing. the guy was spring-loaded, wound up so tight that it was a surprise he hadn't already burst.

inwardly he couldn't help but sigh. they couldn't both be a nervous wreck, so whatever intrusive thoughts he'd had before were stomped out as he grabbed steve by the shoulder. ❝ look, look — ❞ eddie's free hand raised to snap his fingers in front of the old king's face, ❝ look at me. ❞ he did his best to maintain eye contact and get him to focus up. ❝ you're not fine, alright ? this is not fine. ❞ he waved a hand in front of harrington's whole break down situation.

[17] . What do they notice first in the mirror versus what most people first notice looking at them?

Ooooo. Good question. Firstly, I think that Eddie doesn't really spend much time looking at himself in the mirror? Partly because he's got that 'haven't really put in much effort' look going on... but on a deeper level I don't really think he likes to look much.

I think looking in a mirror forces you to look at the self that *you* perceive and Eddie doesn't have as much confidence in himself as he might let others believe. I mean, we see that when he calls himself a coward but even before all the stuff that happened to get him to admit that this was true.

I think that in general, the reputation he has is also what he thinks of himself. So "the freak", the super senior who won't amount to shit, the trailer park kid, etc. etc. Many people don't think much of him, and I think that kinda followed him most if not all of his life. At some point ya start to believe you are what people tell you they think you are.

People close to him (his Uncle included) would see him for the good person he is deep down. They would see his loyalty and how he likes to include people who get pushed out like he has.

This got a bit long, but that's kinda where my head is at.

Hm. I think for the most part Eddie is relatively honest about what he wants. His goal of graduating and sticking it to those who thought he couldn't do it is 100% something he wants.

That said, I guess if we wanna dig deeper... I think that Eddie somewhere in there wants to be accepted by his peers. Like he embraces being "the freak", but what person actually likes being hated on just for being who they are??

He accepts other outcasts because he knows how it feels and doesn't like it, ya know?

I hope that makes sense, lol.

Eddie is 100% the kind of guy that would just spit it out. Probably be dramatic about how nasty it is.

The only time he wouldn't do it, would be on the off chance he's trying to impress someone (or just not offend them). But I imagine that's not at all an often thing.

I think that the word itself is something that he doesn't necessarily use *loosely*, but it's not always used as it's intended. Sometimes he uses it sarcastically to people he's clearly not friendly with.

That said, he does take the concept of friends very seriously. Like, people who become part of his inner circle are like family to him. Especially because he doesn't have much in the way of family. He's a very loyal guy, so people who he considers friends are people who he'll care about for the rest of his life.

[5] . Can they cry on command? If so, what do they think about to make it happen?

Absolutely not. Like, I feel like as much as he might think otherwise at times, Eddie has a very honest face. I also think he doesn't like crying in general, much less making himself cry. If you ever see him cry, it's 100% real tears.

Like, he can play up being sad in like a camp-y way when he'd running his D&D campaigns for NPCs. But that's about it lol.

[7] . What would you (mun) yell in the middle of a crowd to find them? What would their best friend and/or romantic partner yell?

I'd probably yell something like "Dio isn't even that great a singer! He's so overrated!" or something to that effect. To which he'd object, of course.

A partner or friend would probably just need to call his name three times like bettlejuice, lol. Jk. But legit just hearing their voice calling for him would be enough to catch his attention. His ears are tuned to the voice of his loved ones.

I imagine he's for *sure* that guy who likes to sneak up on his partner and/or surprise them. Probably gets love tapped occasionally for it lol. He's got that mischievous streak, ya know?

Friends aren't safe from it either on occasion.
