Yeah, it's official: Toyo never watched/read Dragon Ball outside of GT. There's no other way to explain him being this laughably obtuse about Vegeta's character development in the OG Dragon Ball. It's just like how he also used Granolah to retread Goku's arc on what it means to him to be a "Saiyan from Earth" from the Namek Saga, and treated it as though it's revelatory to his current character; it's just character regression disguised as character progression. This interview exposes that he truly doesn't understand jack about the characters or the original source material that he bases his manga upon.

So, he backtracks on the manga characterization he established for Hedo by superficially adhering to parts of Toriyama's movie script, even though it makes no cohesive sense to do so since it completely contradicts Hedo's previous actions and intentions within the context of the manga's given narrative. This is so pathetically typical of Toyotaro's writing. Whenever he writes himself into a corner, he drops pre-established concepts that he himself devised in the next chapter or arc and prays that the readers are stupid enough not to pay attention: Just like he did with Zenkai Boosts, Perfected Super Saiyan Blue, Ultra Instinct, Vegeta learning (and forgetting) Spirit Control/Instant Transmission, etc. And yes, if anyone has any delusions that he's a good writer - let alone for Dragonball -, they have the literary comprehension of a hamster. He should go back to writing fan doujinshi or stick to Dragonball Heroes (since it's complete lack of reverency for canon is right up his alley).

You wanna know what really infuriates me?

This right here. The fact that this is kept in, unaltered, despite everything that Toyotaro changed. This arc has Hedo being a genuinely dangerous criminal, and Krillin KNOWING about it, before Red Ribbon even CONTACTED him. The stupid prequel arc had Hedo engaging in more than just morally dubious experiments with corpses. This man tried to kill KIDS. This man was willing to murder, steal, destroy to get what he wanted. This man was not the childish genius initially manipulated by his love for superheroes. This Hedo is a menace. Krillin knows it. Krillin spent literally the entirety of that prequel arc hunting down this man. He saw his crimes firsthand and even had to help stop one of his creations. Why on EARTH would Toyotaro just leave this in like that? It makes ZERO narrative sense at all, it makes Krillin especially, and everyone ELSE for that matter, look like complete and utter idiots. Even 18's response is somehow just reduced to... this.

That is the extent of her anger at this situation, and Krillin's comments that he was manipulated. All this, they don't even have Hedo admit that he did figure out RR was lying but wanted to keep using their funding, they just legit paint him as a victim of manipulation and after ALL this additional info... THIS.

THIS is the man whose writing people are trying to claim surpassed Toriyama's own. I'm... done. I'm just done. If you don't have the media literacy to see the MASSIVE narrative problems with Toyotaro's manga at this point, you're a lost cause.

As a fellow Spider-Man fan, I wanted to know what your stance is about Miles taking over for Peter while he's taking his break and trying to get his civilian life together. Everyone went into an uproar (to put it mildly) when the article dropped and suggested that Miles was permanently taking Pete's position as the main protagonist. Bryan Intihar set everyone straight on Twitter that it wasn't the case. Some fans also seem to be insistent that Pete shouldn't get a break because as Spider-Man since he has a responsibility to the world, suggesting that his own personal responsibilities towards himself and his emotional/mental wellbeing don't matter to them. And it's weird to hear that since these are the same fans that have been complaining to Marvel Comics for decades that Pete deserves a modicum of happiness in his everyday life after all of the shit that he's gone through since OMD (and especially with the Zeb Wells run). I just don't understand what's going on with this community.

Did Bryan clarify that? If he did I must have missed it. That being said, I don't necessarily think it's inherently bad for Peter to take a break to try to recoup from some trauma for a minute, repair some relationships, and try to keep Harry's dream alive for him to potentially come back to. Especially since he's even said Miles can call him for anything he thinks he needs help with. Peter's not completely abdicating his responsibilities at all. On top of that, with the teases at the end, and some of the dangling plot threads left after this game, as well as some of the thematic questions posed, we're not seeing the last of Peter by a long shot. They've got too much on the table for him to not be Spider-Man anymore. The next game may be JUST Miles, perhaps a MM2 scenario, and then another full game where it STARTS with Miles flying solo, but I guarantee Peter is going to be back, and make a splash to boot. Besides, when your game series plays so well off of how they can co-exist and what a great team they make together, I don't see why you'd just toss that out as some suggest. Give the narrative team a little credit here. lol

Classic Toyo. You just couldn’t resist, could you?  It wasn’t enough for you to contrive events so that haters could potentially blame Krillin for not acting on acquired information regarding the re-emergence of the RR and Hedo(which canon Krillin wouldn’t have done). Nah, you deliberately ignore Krillin’s strength altogether just to express your contempt for him by having him get one-shotted by a bee for a cheap gag. You just continue to prove that you’re a hack. 

Be honest. Did you REALLY think Toyotaro was just going to start treating him well out of the blue? This is why I’m actually happier when he doesn’t use Krillin at all, being blunt.

Anon, maybe you should ask yourself why you’re so clearly invested in the assertations of this blogger (despite supposedly not giving a fuck) instead of comforting yourself with the knowledge that more “popular” figures in the fandom agree with your inane opinions and moving on. Maybe because you’re threatened by DB-Meta actually citing evidence from the source material (and in the proper context) to support his opinions and arguments instead of blindly following baseless, brain-dead memetic trends like a good little sheep? Or that, deep down, you’re aware on some level that popularity does not equate to merit and credibility, especially on Youtube? Hell, the fact that you even had to cite those supposed “big” names for comparison as means to disparage him demonstrates that, in your mind, you do see his influence on the same level as theirs. Genuine question: there are so many youtubers out there with ten times your reach, fans who actively seek them out for their opinion on the series and other things, even just seek to hang out with them. It truly is infuriating how shamelessly hypocritical “fans” like that are.  It took Vegeta a *decade* and *two* apocalyptic events (both of which that he himself had a willing hand in initiating) for him to become a decent person, let alone father and husband.  Yet Goku has literally been nothing but a good and supportive family man since the beginning of Z yet he gets hammered because of one mistake(which was made in desperation) in regards to his son, which he immediately did his best to rectify. And when it comes to the Super anime (which actually follows Toriyama’s outlines and is the canon that he personally works on), they happily ignore all instances of Goku: spending time with his family, being supportive and mindful of both of his sons’ wants and needs, openly admitting that he loves Chichi and stating how much she understands him and vice versa, and working hard to make a living as a farmer (which he actively enjoys, despite what his Wikia profile states) to provide for them. Instead, they only pay attention to the Super manga, where he is the culmination of every bad take made about him by the western fandom since it’s written by a fellow Vegeta stan. 

Random Dude 1: “Goku was a terrible father, at least Vegeta actually TRIED out of love to be a dad! ESPECIALLY terrible he gave Cell that Senzu!” Me: Goku constantly spent time with his sons, died to save them, and is seen spending time with his family at will. Vegeta almost let baby Trunks die, smirked in his traumatized son’s face when he begged him to stop Cell, and never so much as hugged him until he was almost 8. If you wanna say Goku was a terrible dad, then Vegeta was too. Random Dude 2: “OMG HOW IMMATURE ARE YOU I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU THINK YOU NEED TO TEAR DOWN ONE CHARACTER TO BUILD UP ANOTHER BOTH ARE GOOD BUT FLAWED PARENTS. Now take this list of things Vegeta did in Super that make up for all of that which Goku also did in Z but won’t in Super.” Me: I wasn’t. I simply said that by that standard- Rando 1: “Yeah, you tell him! Although, I think Goku only did it because Chi-Chi forced him to. If she hadn’t, he wouldn’t have bothered. Vegeta wanted to.: Rando 2: *nods in agreement* Me: Didn’t you just say- Rando 2: “Take this screenshot of a Comicbook.com headline citing an out-of-context Toriyama quote. Just face it, Vegeta is the better father now.” Me: You literally just said… whatever, Goku does this in Super too. Rando 2: “lol no he doesn’t also I still can’t believe you felt the need to start comparing their parenting abilities on Father’s Day people like you are so immature” This happens Every. Single. Time.
