The Battle of Hogwarts
“Asena! Stop!” Arryn called, coming to her side and taking hold of her arm. He could feel her muscles snaking beneath his palm, sending a shiver through him.
“I’m going out there.” She spoke, her voice calm as magic exploded around them. “I need to go out there.”
“There’s nothing out there, Asena!”
“Veta is!” Asena snapped, golden eyes coming to rest on blue. Arryn gulped at the sight. He knew better than to hold her back, and so released her arm with a sad smile.
“I know what she means to you.” He leaned in to capture her lips in a chaste kiss. “Go to her, but come back to be.”
“I will, love.” She wrapped her arms around his neck. “I will always return to you.”
She pulled away and darted across the bridge as the veil surrounded the school. A howl was the last thing he heard before her figure disappeared beyond the hill.
“Arryn! Move away from the barrier!” Professor Raine called, grabbing the back of Arryn’s shirt and pulling him back as a spell exploded against the barrier. “What are you thinking?!”
Arryn glanced back at Raine, wand drawn at the ready. He turned his head back to gaze out at the field where Asena had disappeared, a frown pulling at his lips. He stood from the ground and turned back towards the castle, his face set as he steeled himself against the fear in his heart.
“Asena went looking for Professor Valentina. Beyond the veil.”
Raine stopped, drawing in a sharp breath at Arryn’s words. He took hold of Arryn’s vest, dragging him back towards the safety of the castle. Once they were far enough away from the veil, Raine stopped, turning Arryn to face him.
“She went looking for Veta?”
“Yes... She wouldn’t leave her behind.”
“Asena is in direct danger... And you just let her go?!”
“Professor Raine, there’s no stopping her. She would have shifted and thrown you off.” Arryn replied, a sting in his voice as he spoke.
Raine’s next words stopped in his throat. Of course he knew that Asena was a werewolf, hell, the whole school did! No wonder she had such a draw towards Veta… They understood each other on a level that no one else could. No one else in the school was a werewolf or a vampire. His head dropped with the realization of why Asena would risk her safety to find Veta. The poor girl didn’t want to lose another person that she looked towards for guidance. For understanding. For acceptance.
“I understand...” Raine mumbled, his voice barely loud enough for Arryn to hear.
“Professor, Asena will return with Professor Valentina, I know that for sure.” Arryn affirmed, trying his best to curb Raine’s racing thoughts. “We have to have faith in her.”
“And we will.” Raine replied, clapping Arryn on the shoulder. “For now, we have a barrier to uphold. Come.”
They walked close enough to the veil in order to maintain it, eyes continually scanning the fields for any sign of Asena or Valentina, though they preferred it to be both of them returning to the school. Arryn swallowed the lump in his throat as he stood beside Professor Raine.
“Come back home, Asena…” He muttered, a single tear rolling down his cheek before he steeled himself once more.
They had a school to protect. Asena and Veta would be fine. They would come home.

Backstory:
Arryn first met Asena while he was serving detention for disrupting Professor Valentina’s vampire studies class. When Valentina suddenly disappeared for several minutes, then came back with a girl his age wearing a dirty blazier and torn stockings, he was immediately intrigued by her. He watched silently as professor Valentina flicked her wand towards Asena, mending her uniform.
“Asena, why don’t you take a seat and relax for a moment.” Valentina had offered, her pale hands resting on Asena’s shoulders.
“Yes professor.” Asena mumbled in response. Valentina gently squeezed her shoulders before letting go and taking a seat at her desk to grade papers.
Arryn, as Veta had expected, immediately began to talk to Asena, which encouraged the young werewolf to open up to her Housemate. Veta couldn’t help byt smile as she listened to the two of them talk for the next hour before sending them off to the Common Room.

Backstory:
Asena was bullied as a first year by several Gryffindor students because her father had passed prior to her starting at the school. Her emotions started to get the better of her, and as a result, she began to shift. However, Professor Valentina had sensed the spike in Asena's emotions, as well as the spike in her blood, and immediately came to stop the problem causing Gryffindor students. Once they were appropriately terrified and gone, Valentina turned her attention to the slowly calming werewolf. Asena's golden eyes met Valentina's, banishing whatever fear and anger that remained. From that point on, Asena grew close to Valentina as both the authoritative individual she was, but also as family, despite their differences as vampire and werewolf.

P.S.: Robin, I didn't know that you were on tumblr, and I will refrain from tagging you in anything unless it has Valentina in it, as she is your character. Also, Ruth may make an appearance of some form, so I also extend her character's creation to you as well.
