-finally got over that trial whew

-started sobbing when liir started to think of trism referring to him as his lover and all that stuff about his muscles contracting in erotic pleasure (??? wording from bad memory) because i forgot they are canon

-i'm enjoying this book now, things got pretty fun when rain started school

-rain's ethnic makeup is interesting (1/2 quadling, 1/4 vinkun, 1/8 munchkin, 1/8 nebraskan)

-WE ALL KNOW THE PLOT TWIST THAT'S COMING!!! baum told us 100 years ago...

-mixed feelings actually because her pre-death gave me just perfect spot to write a certain relationship i'm interested in and that got me giggling a little, so thanks?

-a propos of nothing, i actually like candle though i know liir/candle gives many fans the ick for understandable reason and tbh me too a lil <-talking as if we're more than 5 people (we're not)

-fandom doesn't talk enough about nor's diy bottom surgery (it's not a srs but it's definitely bottom and most certainly surgery) and that's right maybe we shouldn't

-fangirling at every mention of emperor shell <3333 (he has absolutely no redeemable qualities wow. everything that could count as so is something he uses for power / against others so it doesn't)

-i think nanny is immortal and could kill anyone if she wanted because she can't be killed. this could stop war

-its so interesting to see the musical-book interaction. not just the phrases taken from it, but things such as the mention of milkflowers since alam or more plot-relevant like glinda taking the grimmerie.

-you are fake glinda fan if you haven't read the beginning of out of oz!!!

-cherrystone gets on my nerves cause he's like this sensitive meek man that's somehow carrying multiple genocides on his back. wtf. he's not even the "manipulative and suave" pre-emperor shell, he just seems to have this cognitive dissonance.

-of course avaric is willingly serving shell. that's the kind of friend shell has. this might be from alam but i'll mention it anyway

-i changed my mind, shell arc's is actually great. i'm not yet there but if you read it there might be a lot of subtle information in his attires and mannerisms that make you infer things. i couldn't know merely from spoonfeeding. i'll report back

yeaaaaa same for nessa; i personally don't think there is homophobia in unionism (the "central" catholic-inspired religion of maguire's worldbuilding). frex felt very guilty in his life over several things (failing as a preacher, turtle heart's death) but his relationship with turtle heart was *not* one of them. (in fact, it's a happy memory, and part of why he loves nessa more in the book is because she sees her as fathered by both himself and turtle heart xd).

i dunno, crope/tibbett and liir/tris weren't particularly closeted but IF there is homophobia in maguire's ozian society it might come from patriarchy / expectations to form a conventional family¯_(ツ)_/¯

(note: i don't mind what people write because everyone can enjoy their own thing! and i can uderstand people might choose to write such scenario bc they find it relatable since unfortunately religious+homophobic parent is a common experience)

I wonder how many Gelphie fanfics there are made by musical only fans that make Elphie’s dad homophobic.

I feel like he’s the character that seems the most homophobic in the musical so they’d assume.

Little do they know of the traveling Quadling glassblower so hot that he pulled both of Elphaba’s parents despite not even speaking English very well.

#there's a long line of female rulers prior to wizard-shell era so the patriarchy thing can be odd but it does have more backup #bookverse biggest social problem are racism & Animal rights #nessa as an antagonist to gelphie because she hates not being elphaba's center of attention is more interesting to me personally <3

OH definitely...i like shoulders and arms like 2nd pic because they're broad and i don't want him to be the overly thin+toned type, but the rest i'd see it a bit softer like 1st pic because less abs (i jst don't see the point in training them! i like smooth tummy...)

shell (pre-emperor) i hc him as very skinny, based on some stuff i picked up from the book; the only inconvenience is that he's really tall (liir describes him as taller than elphaba), sooo it would be easy😆

i'm not happy with how i drew trism's body so far :( i see him as more buff than i've drawn him actually, not a roided pig, just beefy enough to look like he could make shell's legs snap like twigs

#liir i'm still deciding... he was chubby as a kid but definitely lost weight in the home guard #being skinnyfat is what i'd want for his physique but maybe it doesn't make sense since as a soldier he would be lean

carnivale is so good and definitely would have done better in streaming era, bc it would've reached more weirdos into creepy carnival-adjacent stuff and religious imagery. baffling it was cancelled and the creator's blogger entry about it only got 18 comments
