I think the beautiful thing about the Broppy relationship is how they impact one another.

Branch’s impact on Poppy is the most obvious in the movies because he’s the one who teaches her to calm down and listen.

But what I think people overlook is the fact that despite her flaws, Poppy never gave up on Branch. Because as cute as they are now, there was a time when Branch was actually pretty cruel to her (ie. Putting her down, smashing her custom made invitations for him in front of her face, mocking her ideals, etc) and probably had been treating her like that for years before movie #1.

Everyone else had given up on him, basically deeming him as a lost cause, but Poppy never stopped trying. Yes Branch got on her nerves and hurt her feelings, and as far as she knew he would just throw her invitations away afterwards. Yet despite that she still put in the effort to make him custom invitations and genuinely want him to be there.

And even though he never dared express it, those efforts meant something to him.

Like we love Branch, but I don’t think we give Poppy enough credit for her role in Branch’s life. He was unkind (to put it lightly) to her for years, but despite that she never held any resentment towards him and still felt that he deserved to be happy. And by that incredible persistence, she worked her way into his heart.

See, Branch is a character who is completely used to tragedy and people he loves leaving in his life. So that’s partially why he pushed Poppy away and treated her so poorly. But despite that, Poppy was always THERE. She was with him when literally nobody else was. She was naive, optimistic and annoying, but she was there. Always putting the effort to be his friend, and the only one who had any sort of faith in him. He may have been isolated, but because of Poppy he was never truly alone. And even if it irked him, he still appreciated that.

And when somebody sticks with you literally no matter what, it’s not surprising that he fell more than a little bit in love.

As for Poppy, she’s slowly becoming aware that she can be a bit much sometimes. She always wants the best for her people but she doesn’t always know how to do that. Branch, even if originally rude about it, has always been able to give it to her straight. And even if he pretended not to care, he still had her back when it mattered the most. And after number one, it looks like he has her back more than ever while still being able to be the voice of reason. Which yes, Poppy definitely needs.

(Gah I wish I could put more pictures to elaborate my point but y’all get it.)

Anyway. They’re not perfect characters, but they are perfect for each other. Branch supports Poppy but gives it to her flat out. Meanwhile Poppy too supports Branch and is stubborn enough to stick by him, even when he’ll intentionally and/or unintentionally push her away. And that’s just gorgeous.

Why are people shipping Ramyatta? Aren't they brothers?

The short answer: no. For the long answer, read on.

“Zenyatta and Ramattra call each other 'brother.'”

Zen and Ram are both former members of a monastic order. The Shambali call each other “brother” or “sister” as a sign of respect, endearment and unity within their religious community, just as they do within their monastic, real world counterparts.  How do I know this? Because Zen also calls several other characters his “brother” and “sister.”  On the Nepal map, Zen has a voiceline stating “I have not returned here for many years. I wonder if my brothers and sisters will be pleased to see me,” referring to the other Shambali.  Zen also shares a voiceline with Orisa when he uses the orb of harmony on her: “We are as one, my sister.” In OW2, he has a voiceline with the robot on Push Missions: "Hello, brother. Come with us." And when the robot is taken by the enemy team: "The enemy has stolen away our friend."

In general, the word brother has a more than one meaning. English has no word for a man to use in reference to another man who is more than a friend but not a lover. Brother has been used as stand-in in this context forever.

“The devs said they were brothers.”

The tweets and videos so far released by Blizzard have mentioned that Ram and Zen are “as close as” brothers. They have also referred to their relationship as a friendship.

“What about Mondatta?”

Mondatta is also not Zen’s brother (other than in a monastic sense, see above). The "name" Tekhartha is actually a title or honorific. This has been confirmed in a 2018 forum post by former lead writer Michael Chu. 

“What about adopted/found family?”

Zen and Ram are robots. They were not born or raised together. When they met, they were functionally adults both making their ways in the world. This isn’t considered incest by any stretch of the imagination.

“I just prefer to view them as platonic/brothers, ok?”

If you prefer to view Ram and Zen as brothers or otherwise platonic, you may of course have those HCs. I only ask that the same courtesy be extended to fans who prefer to view their relationship as romantic.

Damian does not know how he has got into such a mess.

That was a lie.

Like most messes in his life, it all started with his family and their constant “ribbing”.

‘They act as if gaining a date was not easy,’

Damian glared as he scouted out a suitable target in the mall.

Sitting alone by the arcade there was an attractive boy on his phone.

Acceptable.

Making his way next to his target, he sat down and tapped his shoulder.

The other boy flinched and subtly (though not to someone as trained as him) glanced Damian over, eyes seeming to catalog instinctively.

Good, not perfect but admissible all things considered.

“Uh hi.?”

“Your age.”

“Pardon?”

“What is your age?”

“16.?”

Damian nodded as he mulled over the information. About a year his senior, not ideal but still viable.

“ Date me.”

“Excuse me??”

“I will pay you for your inconvenience of course but I am in need of a date and you are the most suitable person I have seen so far.”

“Wait a minute-“

“Here is your first payment.”

Damian handed the boy the envelope he had prepared for today and had to hold back a smirk as he saw they other boy’s eyes widen.

“I-“

“I will pay you monthly with bonuses for any extremely taxing events that may occur if you agree.”

“I- I guess?”

“Good, now give me your number and I will contact you for our first date. My name is Damian Wayne.”

“Danny..”

For all purposes the agreement has only worked in his favor.

His family was off his back, galas were less boring and they even shared common interests.

That being said,

“You did not need to give me a gift Daniel, it was not a requirement.”

Damian looked down at the katana shaped keychain he was handed, it was well made and surprisingly sharp.

“I know Dami, but it just reminded me of you!”
