There's one part from Alcina's lore that I've never understood (and I'm too ashamed to ask at this point) but how does her regeneration ability is tied to her 9'6 height?

Did she got growth spurts at random? Does it happens when she's not supplied with enough blood? Or when she regenerates after being injured?...

And could Heisenberg's "keep growing" voice line be genuine (in sense, that she could've gotten even taller) or it's just a mockery?

Unfortunately there isn’t a very detailed explanation provided in-game as to how and why her healing abilities led to an increase in body size. The only additional clues that we have are present in the Japanese version of the game files, which were apparently written simultaneously with the original English script and thus can contain some unique information that didn’t get transferred over or cut when compared to the English files. In them, her size is attributed more specifically to an increase in her metabolism:

Now, I am not someone with an extensive background in neither biology nor medicine, so my understanding of this cause-and-consequence relation between metabolism and body mass proposed by Miranda is shallow at best, but I am capable of doing a quick Google search and it seems to me that the crow lady was not too (entirely?) off the mark in her hypothesis: “Species with a higher standard metabolic rate also tend to have higher levels of activity and total energy expenditure. Faster metabolic rates may therefore enable faster rates of energy acquisition that then promote faster rates of somatic growth and reproduction.” (Auer SK, Dick CA, Metcalfe NB, Reznick DN. Following Miranda’s notes, it seems that Alcina’s mutations are highly related to not only her hereditary blood disease, but also how the Mold has impacted her cells, both when it comes to their division rates as well as their volatility as indicated by the metabolic balance that gets disrupted by the dagger’s poisons and thus forces her to mutate. In the art book, for example, it is specifically mentioned that her “tendrils” are actually clumps of her enlarged cells.

It is also worth noting that she is not the only one who got inhumanly tall after being exposed to the Mold - the Beneviento treasure is guarded by a giant, and so is Miranda’s laboratory. So there is already a precedent for this effect and how extreme it can get.

With all this in mind, my theory for how her increased body size came to be is that her tissues are all so overactive that she possesses a constant net positive of cells, with cell division outweighing cell death, which means that slowly over time, this surplus accumulates into visible growth. The speed of her regeneration combined with the rough skin texture that we see under her makeup could also mean that she also scars more, either due to direct injuries to her body or maybe even because her skin is forced to stretch to match the growth of her internal tissues.

Drinking blood may slow down the process, but it certainly hasn’t stopped it thus far. So, like Heisenberg mentions, she keeps growing, and growing, and growing. I think the voice line is very much genuine.

This is obviously a rather terrifying process, if we really think about it, which does explain why Alcina was so obsessed with her appearance and why she explicitly states her desire to be eternally beautiful like Mother Miranda - she already has everlasting life, her daughters, and the castle, but what good is that if one day she will be too big to enjoy all of it? Imagine it. What happens when she is no longer able to apply her own lipstick? When there is no armchair or bathtub or vanity table that could hold her weight? When the day comes when she can squeeze through the doorframes into a room, but not out? It is a form of body horror that would be traumatizing to anyone, but catastrophic to a woman as proud and as vain as her. And if her hunger grows alongside her size, then there is the threat that one day there will not be enough blood nor any prey her children may bring her that will keep her from permanently mutating into her dragon form. It draws a rather interesting parallel to how her blood disorder might have impacted her back when she was a mortal.

Another voice line that I feel adds to this is one that plays during her fight with Ethan: “Rose is our only hope! We won’t hand her over to the likes of YOU”. At this point in the game, the daughters are dead and the maids have all been mutated, so to me it is pretty evident that she is talking about herself and Miranda. If Moreau knew about Miranda’s plan to bring Eva back, then chances are high that so did Alcina (remember the crib in her chambers?). From the religious artwork around the village we see that Eva was portrayed in the cult as this god-child, and while we can only speculate what sort of doomsday Miranda painted her daughter as being the one to save the village from, my personal headcanon is that Miranda made a promise to Alcina that with Eva back, she would be able to “save” her from the undesirable effects of of her mutation in return for her devotion - AKA stop her body from growing further into something even more inhuman. Eternal beauty, just like Miranda’s.

So, to summarize: it appears to come from her heightened metabolism, and is possibly a constant process that is regulated by her blood intake and how much damaged tissue she is forced to heal.

I’m playing Dragons Dogma 2 and I’m loving it. I’ve been too busy with work and school that I haven’t done anything else but school work sleep and maybe eat sometimes. Anyway look at yhis lady right here, she’s my main pawn.

She gives me vibes of the Alcina from “Shield Me” by @wherethewolfsbaneblooms and I absolutely love it lol. I debated on whether trying to make Briene of Tarth or Alcina so I had to do a coin flip and I’m so not mad at all. We do need better armor but she’s on her way to becoming a highly sophisticated warrior.

Nothing like having our lovely Lady D with us and giving us high fives when we kill things together lol. Also I may have lost it when I jumped of a small rock and she legit caught me. Like I’ll definitely clip it if she does it again. 🫣🫠🤭
