author’s note: i’m sorry this took so long to write 😡 but anyways this is my first written au and i don’t know how to feel about it!! feedback is 110% appreciated, you don’t have to like or reblog even just send feedback! i’ve never written like this before so 😅 anyways i hope u like it lovie

it was now the 7th time that mingyu felt you twisting and turning in your sleep. the entire night, you hadn’t gotten any proper sleep and whenever you felt yourself drift off a little bit, you’d be quickly awoken again for whatever reason. you blame it on your job. you have a big presentation due next week and you’ll be presenting it in front of the most important people in the company.

mingyu knew how badly you were stressing, and being the great boyfriend he is tried his best the entire week to help get rid of it. from a japanese massage session that ended up with both of you bickering about who had the best japanese pronunciation, to even doing masks with you. but even if throughout the day he did his best to distract to you, you were extremely restless at night.

after the 7th kick into his back, mingyu decided to finally get out of bed and do something about this. you weren’t completely awake, but you were definitely not asleep either. you could feel his weight shift off the bed and the door slowly squeaking open and close again. you sluggishly shift to his side of the shared bed; where the bedside clock was, and saw it was 7:39 in the morning. you suddenly felt a strong wave of guilt wash over you for waking him up at this hour, knowing how much mingyu loved to sleep in on weekends.

you decided to get up out of bed, having no trouble since you practically weren’t asleep the entire night. on your way to the door, you heard the sounds of what seemed like pots and pans clashing. without having to guess what mingyu was doing, you quickly slid in your slippers and opened the door knob to head to your kitchen.

you saw mingyu, still in his spider-man pajamas, standing by the kitchen island while sorting out some ingredients on the marble top. he looked tired, it was obvious from his posture that he really wanted to be back in bed right now, but you could somehow see the hint of enthusiasm in his moves at the same time.

he looked up at you upon hearing your slippers hesitantly walk over to him. an instant smile covered his face.

“hey baby,” he said still in his morning raspy voice.

“hey. what are you doing?”, you respond walking over to where he was standing taking out some spices from the cupboard next to the stove and hugging his back.

he held your hands that were wrapped around his front while trying to walk over back to the island top with you clinging on him. once he reached the island and put down the last ingredients, he turned around so he could see you, now wrapping your arms around his waist.

“you couldn’t sleep,” he spoke with a slight pout as he brushed a strand of messy bed hair behind your ear.

you hummed and snuggled into his chest, breaking off the eye contact. “i’m sorry i woke you up,” you sighed “i don’t know why i can’t sleep,”.

he pulled you back and turned you around so that you could see all the ingredients laid out on the kitchen top. you look at them intently while he wraps his arms around your shoulders in a back hug. the ingredients didn’t seem like they belonged to any recipe you knew and before you could ask, mingyu answered your thoughts.

“i’m making my mom’s recipe,” he spoke into your ear, “i don’t exactly know what the food is called but i do know that my mom used to make it for me and my sister whenever we had big tests coming up during school and stuff. maybe it could work for you,”

“i would love that gyu, but at least let me help you make it,”

“hey you don’t have to supervise me, i promise i won’t break anything,” he looked at the side of your face seriously.

“i’m not supervising you,” you turned towards him with a smile that definitely meant you were, and quickly pecked his cheek and stepped away from him to get started.

the entire 40 mins was filled with mingyu telling you anecdotes about the day before his tests when he would panic and his mom would come in and save the day with this platter, while you watch him cook and make sure his sleeve doesn’t catch on fire or something.

he was so enthusiastically telling you these stories, as if he wasn’t tired from barely getting any sleep, but you knew he wasn’t used to waking up this early and could very much collapse on the couch at like 12pm. so while he was taking care of chopping some vegetables, you turned around and started making some coffee. the kitchen was finally comfortably silent for a few moments, mingyu focusing on the veggies, and you preparing the hot beverage.

but the silence was quickly interrupted when mingyu let out a sharp yelp and you heard the knife fall on the chopping board. you quickly turned back towards him and worriedly grabbed his hands to inspect any injuries, and to no shock you found a small cut on his left index finger, barely visible if it wasn’t for the blood seeping out of it. you turned your gaze towards him while he avoided your eyes and looked everywhere except you.

“i look away for one second- i can’t believe you expected me to leave you in this kitchen all alone,” you said as you slightly giggled at his clumsiness and dragged him by his hand to the sink to turn on the cold water and put his injured finger under it. “you probably would’ve somehow come out with a black eye if i wasn’t with you right now,” you said, now focusing on his finger.

“the avocado was hard, okay? i had to press the knife extra hard and it just slipped,” he said knowing you probably really wanted to laugh at him right now but were holding it in for his sake. while looking around the kitchen to entertain himself while you were drying both his and your hands in the small towel hanging by the oven handle, he noticed the two cups of coffee sitting on the counter opposite the island. he smiled to himself, silently thanking you for knowing him so well.

after drinking the coffee and sitting on the counter watching mingyu continue his cooking and talk about his work and other random things for another 15 minutes, you both came out with your plates to the living room and sat on the couch to watch some tv while eating. the sun was now pretty high up in the sky and shining in on the whole apartment including the couch you two were sitting on.

in the natural light, mingyu could see your dark under eye circles and your still unbrushed bed hair, he knew how anxious you were over this presentation, but he thought that even in your most stressful times, you looked like the prettiest girl he’d ever seen.

he snuggled into your chest while you automatically put your arm around him, welcoming his cuddles. “you know, you’re probably the smartest person i’ve ever met. and i’m 1000% sure that the people at that meeting will think the exact same. i saw your work, i know how great you did and how hard you worked on this, and they’ll see it too. don’t worry,” he said to you and you paused your hand on the remote and looked down at him. you kissed his forehead.

“thank you, gyu.” you say lovingly.

you both then turn towards the tv and finally find a channel playing a rerun of the old simpsons seasons. you pick up your plate from the table in front of you and finally try the famous recipe.

“this is so great, gyu,” you say in a muffled tone with food still in your mouth. mingyu laughs at you and swallows his food.

“i’m glad you like it,”

you both sit there watching tv the entire day before mingyu does finally fall asleep on the couch at 1pm, an hour later than expected, and you go into your shared room to give your presentation a final reread.

after you finish revising it, you realize mingyu is right. you were proud of your hard work and were now confident that your boss would be proud of you at the meeting as well.

oh. how thankful you were for kim mingyu’s existence.

okay so how about au where y/n and her best friend are entering a film contest together (yes this is inspired by us) and they meet acting majors junhao and go crazy go stupid with the rest

author’s note: UGH YOUR MIND also i cant believe this is based on us omg we’re so cute,, anyways i might make this like a series or something BUT FOR NOW!! HEADCANNON IT IS!! hope u enjoy this baby🥺 (also i made the reader x minghao and the best friend with jun that way u fit the reader!!)

OKAY SO you and your best friend are film majors (struggling😔✊)

you both decide to enter this film contest your university is holding

it has a chunky prize so that’s obviously a plus bc you’re BROKE

anyways anyone really can enter the contest but film and theatre majors were given priority

junhao (our babies) are acting majors!!

they share a few classes with the both of you but it’s a huge classroom and u don’t really notice the other students much bc ur always with ur best friend

when u both decide to enter the film contest, u are given the option to pair up with acting majors with a minimum of 4 people working in the project

so you and your best friend are like 🤔🤔 cause you’re only 2 and you need 2 other people to be able to enter the contest

and guess what!! the day you go to the office to fill out the forms for the contest and hopefully scope out a few acting students to be with you in your project, u meet junhui and minghao

at first you were looking mostly for female students bc you were going for a theme inspired by your childhood friendship 🥺 so you needed two actresses to sort of play you and your best friend

but that day in the office the minute junhui saw your best friend he started following her around like a puppy and constantly asking if he could join you for the contest

you were also introduced to his friend, minghao, who was DEFINITELY more quiet than jun but seemed nice

when you two finally agreed to pair up with them on the project,, the first thing jun did was give out both his and hao’s numbers to both of you guys,, and plan an outing by tomorrow to start brainstorming

now that u and ur best friend’s original theme in mind was thrown out the window, you needed new ideas

the next day you went to a convenience store that jun works at in front of this cute park

the store had places to sit,, and they were almost always empty, seeing as people usually grab their things from inside then pay and leave

so the place quickly became ur guys’ habit

you would go there every day during jun’s shift to talk about the contest

well

you and hao would talk about the contest, jun and your best friend would constantly flirt😔

you and hao got a lot closer and you learnt a lot of things about him

like his love for wine, and art

he likes peaceful things in general, things that make him happy

hes a very simple person

but also he knows how to have fun

you two have the funnest time running away while jun and your best friend are inside “looking for something” when we all know they’re probably making out

hes always the one who suggests it

he’s so giggly while u pack up ur things quietly and try to sneak away without anyone seeing you guys 😭

you guys are like best friends by the second week

you use his art and things that you two talk about as inspiration for the film

he loves how u listen to him and pay attention to every detail he says

you make him feel special🥺 (cue twice)

it almost feels like he’s replacing ur other best friend bc she’s practically being stolen by junhui and you and minghao hang out like 24/7 now

even after the film contest is over

and you guys win!!! bc u and ur best friend have big brain energy and junhao are amazing actors!!

all 4 of you become a rlly tight group

they even introduce u to their other friends

and even though u and ur friend always had plans to date culinary majors bc u both SUCK at cooking and would burn the house down (@ mingyu) ur both pretty sure u found the ones for u at that point

yes u had a crush on hao by then who wouldn’t

but he also had a crush on you🥺

idk how to make confession scenarios so

u date!!

hao as ur bf isn’t so different from before u two started dating

ur still best friends who hang out 24/7

ur just more clingy to each other now,, and u get kisses

u and hao go on double dates with jun and your bestie

mostly consisting of u two making sure they don’t get arrested for some stupid shit they did😔

from now on!! you four enter all film contests every year and win everytime bc ur just that talented
