A bit of a craze started in some newspapers and magazines around this chilly November of 1965 was to get handwriting experts, otherwise known as graphologists, to explain what the Beatles were REALLY like as a result of handwriting tests. John deliberately disguised his "scrawl" but he still came out as "forthright, blunt, sometimes blunt and very artistic". "I give up," he said later. "I wanted to be all weak and creepy, like I really am, just for a change in those analysis bits."
Mad Day Out session, Cavendish Avenue, 28 July 1968
Tom Murray: “This is one of my favourite pictures. It’s such a fabulous profile of Paul. We were sitting in the dome of his house in St John’s Wood. He’d locked all the others downstairs so we wouldn’t be disturbed. The photo had to be cropped slightly because it got damaged on one side.”
Tom might be misremembering there since that’s George’s hand behind Paul in the photo.
I hope you are O.K. Will you do me a favour please? This enclosed photo [see item below] is from a United Artists Song album which is out over here, and I would like you to find the photographer or whoever has the negative, and get him to make me a blow up of me about 5 ft. high. You may think this is very strange, but don't worry I haven't gone mad yet! If you can get it done and keep it at the office until I get back, then I will fix you up with whatever it costs. I have just thought, could you have it mounted on cardboard that wont bend. -Thanks. It's the funniest picture I have seen for some time and I couldn't resist a big one for my front door!
The tour and everyone are/is (take your pick) O.K. and send their regards. Give ours to your wife, and also best of luck to you too!
