I need Kaoruko and Claudine to be absolutely feral when they’re around each other, but not in a “committing crimes together way” and more of a “I’m gonna commit this crime independently and pin it on you while insulting you” way

Absolute best friends, but they hate each other, but they love each other, but they toss sarcastic insults at each other all day every day, but they’ll go to war for each other, but they’ll purposely eat the last sweet to piss the other off, but they’ll sit on the couch and analyze Japanese plays and dramas together

They’ll bicker constantly in a way that’s completely different from how Kaoruko and Futaba or Claudine and Maya will, and instead of it just being words or banter, Claudine and Kaoruko will full on end up in a physical fight (kinda like play wrestling but like- way less play) and then just sigh and have tea on the couch while everyone looks on in horror and amazement

Give me Claudine being basically another sibling to Fumi and Shiori

I was thinking about this all night during work, but give me Claudine coming back from France during school break and she’s in peak Workaholic Mode and she’s not listening to anyone about resting, not even Maya because she’s in hardcore tunnel vision

And Maya goes to do a collab play performance with Siegfeld they’re practicing after school hours and Fumi is there because Shiori wanted her to be there to observe her practicing and add any feedback. Akira comments about Maya being distracted more than usual and Maya apologizes and says she’ll focus more. Both Michiru and Mei Fan bring up how it’s unusual and if there’s anything specific on Maya’s mind and Yachiyo lightheartedly says something like “I hope you’re not overworking yourself because Shiori has gotten onto all of us at least once for that”

They then all begin to recount their tales of being lectured and taken care of Shiori and Maya then brings up Claudine working herself to the bone to the point where she’s only seen Claudine doing nothing for a half hour max, if that, outside of sleeping

Cue both Shiori and Fumi freezing and going “is that so” with scary, sickeningly sweet smiles and Fumi proceeding to pull out her phone and calling Claudine on the spot with the speaker on

Such interaction goes as follows:

Claudine: …Oui? Fumi?

Fumi: When was the last time you took a break?

Claudine: …

(Claudine proceeds to hang up without a word and this time, Shiori calls with the speaker on)

Claudine: …Yes?

Shiori: Saijou-san?

Claudine: …Oui?

Shiori: Come to Siegfeld

Claudine: …

Fumi: We need to have a talk. Now

Claudine: *sigh* …Fine, I’m on my way

Claudine then shows up and is brought to the practice room, while looking both exhausted and apprehensive, by a snickering Yachiyo

When she gets there, Shiori and Fumi make her sit on the floor as they both lecture her about working and Claudine just looks at the floor as her eyebrow twitches in embarrassment

At some point, I want either Shiori or Fumi or both to slip up and call Claudine their sister at the end of this tirade

I have no idea about what she said when she went fishing because for the life of me, I can’t find actual dialogue from that event and the only thing that pops up is a minigame

SAIJOU CLAUDINE HAS ZERO CHILL AT ALL, she can’t relax for shit

Even during player POV dialogues during bonding moments, when she’s listening to music, it still pertains to the stage and analyzing

It’s like her body and mind refuses to let her do anything that doesn’t somewhat revolve around the stage and even if she wanted to stop, she just can’t

So apparently Futaba, Mahiru, and Nana are the only ones who haven't done professional theatre work before coming to Seisho... We need to have a fic where the gang marathons each others' embarrassing child acting stints.

Claudine has lost count of how many commercials she did as a kid. She regrets doing this marathon approximately 24 hours later, when her friends won't stop singing commercial jingles in broken French.

Maya: "Oh, Arrie? I have the limited platinum edition with two discs of bonus features, we can watch that"

Claudine: "Please tell me you didn't just spend $50 on a dvd because you found out I was in it."

Maya: "No, I've had it since I was 12 years old. My childhood dream was to marry Arrie :)"

Junna: "wow I did not know it was possible for her face to get that red"

Once they get past the slough of commercials (and Arrie), watching the rest of Claudine and Maya's performances is fun for exactly no one save Claudine and Maya themselves. See, these two have (coincidentally! No, really!) acted in a lot of the same roles, and cannot resist using this rewatch to stoke their rivalry.

The gang is fucking floored to see that Dignified Class President Hoshimi Junna has her face plastered all over a glasses ad (this is canon)

She's not even ashamed. They give her a discount on all nine of the new frames she buys yearly.

(Junna doesn't even need different glasses for reading/distance or anything like that. She just has to make her glasses frame align with The Vibes of the day.)

At long last, Kaoruko is on the recieving end of embarassment. Don't forget, she's actually pretty shy! She would be hiding her face in her hands when her friends start talking about how cute baby Kao is with her teeny little fans.

Hikari puts in her footage. It's an unmarked dvd. The screen blazes to life to show that she was apparently frontlining an idol group, and a not obscure one if the size of the crowd is anything to go by. As the footage continues, the gang is in shock as they realize they've heard this song.

Kaorkuo: "Hikari what the fuck why didn't you tell us you were Stella~⭐!?"

Hikari: "it never came up."

Honestly-

I love smooth Tendo Maya as much as the next bitch, but also give me awkward as fuck, never been in a romantic relationship and has no idea what to do because she doesn’t have a script, never been given any affection since she was FIVE Tendo Maya

Give me awkward and touchstarved Tendo Maya who has no idea how to act and makes small tugs at Claudine’s sleeve or bumps her head against Claudine’s shoulder in private and awkwardly asks to be held

I have one singular, completely made up idea that’s lit up in fairy lights in my head and it’s Claudine refusing to engage with Maya until she has caffeine in her body

Like their rooms are right next to or across from each other, I could see them getting up at the same time and opening their doors at the same time. Maya’s ready to go, she’s ready to tease, she’s ready to provoke and challenge, so she’s just about to say something and Claudine just- “no rivalry before I’ve had something to deal with you” and leaves for the common room

Maya, completely bewildered at being brushed off, just slowly trails after with subconscious thoughts like “hello, Claudine, attention, my rival who I spend almost every second of my day with?”

The only other people awake would probably be Nana and Junna, Nana’s in the kitchen as always and Junna is reading on the chair in the living room, Claudine just plops herself down on the couch without a care and looks just about ready to fall back asleep

Maya is still deeply confused and just stares at her and Nana, because of course, hands her a cup of coffee with cream and sugar and gestures to Claudine and Maya is the epitome of “why me, I don’t think my rival who I spend almost every second of my day with and who doesn’t leave my side very often would appreciate this from me”

So she sits down on the couch next to Claudine and gets her attention and Claudine, still not fully awake, cracks one eye open at her in confusion and also a warning like “what did I just say” before seeing the coffee in Maya’s hands and sitting to attention. Maya’s amused, but hands it over and maybe says something like “if there’s no rivalry before you have something like this, then here’s a peace offering”

I could go on for forever now that your note has been put in my head. There’s so much growth and potential

Your Mayakuro fics have been swirling in my mind like crazy and, I think, in one of your notes, you mentioned it taking Claudine way longer to admit Maya being her best friend than it taking her to admit she’s in love with her and honestly? All I can think of is analyzing every background scene in Revue Starlight of them interacting, even during something as simple as the opening, and writing little drabbles of them being friendly and getting along between the intense rivalry that’s depicted a majority of the time

For example, when Kaoruko announces she’s leaving Seisho and Claudine is sighing next to Maya, I could see her reaching over to grab at Maya’s sleeve (something she never does) and groaning out “please tell me you think this is ridiculous, please tell me I’m not the only one” and Maya pausing before subtly nodding and Claudine then grabbing her shoulder subconsciously and sighing in relief “oh thank fuck”

Thank you! And YES!!! You get it! It’s actually that moment in ep 6 that is one of the big reasons why I wrote that note. Episode 6 in general is just fantastic for the ‘mayakuro are besties’ agenda bc they’re a big part of the episode but it’s still not about them. So we get to see a much more casual and friendly side to their relationship.

Like, they eat lunch together!! They sit next to each other in group settings!! They hang out! And they like hanging out with only the other person, because they get on with each other the best. You know, how you get on with your best friend the most out of anyone? Have they ever heard of that concept?

I think about Claudine glaring at Kaoruko while Maya quietly sips her tea all the time. It’s a 10/10 moment from the show. I can totally see Claudine grabbing Maya’s sleeve in pure desperation lol. Anyway you’re absolutely right, mayakuro are besties and the show has tons of evidence. Their actions just do not match their words lol, they can keep insisting they’re only rivals as much as they want but that doesn’t change the fact they probably know every little thing about each other and always purposefully choose to sit next to each other and - I could go on. They’re clowns. But we love them
