Patiently staring into the ether, waiting for this to air.
Out of all the trailers iQIYI dropped, none (not even Cao Dun war epic!) were as eye popping as GJM’s Fangs of Fortune.
I have even more caps from it (every frame is like a gonzo painting) but let’s start with this.
His visuals are so gonzo that I end up not caring too much about story or even acting (though he always gets good performances out of his actors - unpopular opinion but I think MJTY was ZLH’s and Esther’s best performances to date for example) and this looks so much on brand for him - like you see the visuals and you know it’s him.
(He reminds me a little of Sanjay Leela Bhansali - another love him or hate him director whose visuals are so amazing I end up not even caring what the story is about.)
