Dear Lady Diana, I'm so grateful for your blog and for you. I just bought my first deck (Rider Waite 😍) and I'll be performing your tutorial on how to learn tarot in one day. I'm so excited but I'm a bit insecure about the keyword part. I'm not a very intuitive or visual person and I might end up choosing totally wrong keywords for the cards. 😢 Could you please give me any pointers please? Thank you so very much. 🙏
Key Meanings for All 78 Tarot Cards
Frankly, that method will never work unless you choose the keywords yourself. If you do not assign your own meanings, the exercise will be no different from memorizing random words from a book or the internet. Your mind will never retain them within a day. But here is a list to give you an idea anyway.
You may have more than just one passion. But which is meant to give your soul ultimate satisfaction?
Step 1: Prepare your deck.
Remove the Major Arcana, the Pages and the Knights. Set them aside.
You should have 48 cards left: the Minor Arcana’s aces through tens, the Queens and the Kings.
Step 2: Ask 12 times.
Shuffle your cards as you ask, “What do the powers that be declare this incarnation’s purpose to be?”
Focus intently, ensuring you do not stumble on the words. In case you do, stop. Take three deep breaths, and begin the count from one again.
Step 3: Read the rogues.
If, while shuffling, certain cards jumped out of the deck, read them now, using the meanings you know.
They are clues from the divine. The positive-leaning cards are what will help you achieve your purpose, and the negative-leaning ones are the obstacles you need to overcome.
Step 4: See the answer.
Turn over your shuffled deck, so that the cards are facing you.
Set aside the first 11 cards you see. The 12th is your answer.
Step 5: Heed your purpose.
The Aces
Your life purpose is not only to accept or love yourself, but to admire and worship it. Your past lives were filled with insecurity and self-loathing. In this incarnation, the powers that be want you to set that right.
The Twos
Your life purpose is not only to experience material abundance, but to revel in it. Your past lives overflowed with nothing but scarcity and lack. In this incarnation, the powers that be want you to experience the opposite of that.
The Threes
Your life purpose is not only to speak your mind but to be admired for it. You had no voice in any of your past lives. In this incarnation, the powers that be want you to sing to the world and know what it is like to be applauded.
Rearranged my altar ft my work in progress pendulum board! I added lots of dried flowers and removed a lot of clutter. I think its nicer now. When I move I'll have a better spot than just on the corner of my dresser - but for now its convenient because I can keep all my herbs and bottles and tools in the drawer underneath. (I forgot to turn the fairy lights on 😭😭😭 everyone just pretend)
Garden witches, green witches, healers and anyone who uses herbs in their practice...
This is a really good, comprehensive list of edible flowers. It has a vivid description each plant’s taste and how to use and harvest as well as including which parts of the plant are inedible (x)
Here’s a great free ebook on cooking, brewing and blending herbs (x)
This website has fantastic gardening advice. Just search for a plant and it will tell you how to grow it, what grows indoors, pest, solutions, trivia and much, much more. (x) And it even has an edible gardening section (x) plus an indoor section if you don’t have a garden (x)
If you have any other resources, feel free to add them to this list.
Heyyy Lady Di, what can I use my tarot cards for in addition to telling the future [and seeing the hidden past and the concealed present, as you elegantly put it]?
It’s kind of hard for me to explain but the thing about telling people to use their intuition in magic to ‘figure out something’ is that people can easily be biased based on their emotions.
Ask a person to pick a Deity to worship and they might pick Aphrodite because they liked reading about her in Greek Mythology in the sixth grade and therefore, they’ll genuinely think that she’s calling them for worship based on that fact.
No, you want it to be Aphrodite because you like her.
Because of the fact that you are a fan of her, you might be seeing signs when there aren’t any. You’ll start picking your personality apart to try make yourself compatible with the Goddess. You might claim to like the sea or something else of hers therefore Aphrodite is calling you. You might even claim that seeing her face ‘’moves’’ you energetically towards her even though you just like her as a Goddess.
Because of your obsession with Aphrodite, your feelings had clouded any messages from a real calling from Khonsu, the Egyptian God of the moon. You’ve never heard of him but according to Khonsu himself, one of your ancestors in Egypt was once a Priestess and the God had decided to send you a lot of signs to drag you into worshiping him. The problem is that you were staring at the sea while Khonsu was showing you the moon above it.
It doesn’t mean you can’t worship both Khonsu and Aphrodite, it just means that only one them had actively seeked you out while the other was based on your personal choice.

My family knows I’m overly obsessed with Halloween (Samhain season!) and I play Halloween music year round, so I just sneak some of these in my playlist too, and then the really witchy ones I only listen to with headphones. Spotify (or at least Premium) has a feature where you can listen in a “private session” so that your friends can’t see what you’ve been listening to. Also, any music can be used in ritual! I use music to raise the energy and also sound cleanse in my craft, but you can also use songs to honour specific deities or use them as chants.
Blessed be!
Day 11: Try using a different method, one that you have either never used or rarely used, to try speaking to your deity. Discuss the results.
Flora:
(Oops I skipped a bunch of days. Oh well)
I was doing my weekly tarot check-in with Flora and had some questions about a card I kept seeing appear. So - keeping this challenge in mind - I tried using a pendulum to get some clearer yes or no answers! It worked out really well even though I just used a needle on some string! I was surprised actually at how distinct the answers were. The needle would just stop mid spin and go the other direction...I'm sure this is normal but I'm new to witchcraft and I was in awe! Overall a good experience, I'll definitely use it again.
I just went on a massive following spree because so many blogs I follow were inactive. Lots of them were, unfortunately, witchcraft and Wicca blogs. So please like or reblog this post if you post about witchcraft and/or Wicca! I’ll take a look at your blog and follow if I like it!
For those among us who, like myself, value the simple little things we can do to keep our homes and hearths happy, healthy, and still magical! I hope you all find some use out of these little bits I’ve picked up along the way.
• Make a spray of salt, water, vinegar, and herbs you associate with protection (I use pepper, lemon, and rosemary- though I do recommend a variation of Thieves oil, if you’re interested in also cutting down on germs and such) to use when cleaning to add a magical boost to protecting your home.
• Through many of us don’t have the traditional old school hearth setup, I like to light a candle to symbolize the hearth fire burning in my home. I use this ritual to honor my gods and their presence in my home. This also helps me feel connected to the hearth fires of old and to all those who came before me, allowing me to be here.
• Timing your chores with moon cycles can be an effective way to get witchy and remember to actually do certain chores, which we all forget from time to time (no? Just me? Alright then.)
• Enchanting your throws, blankets, and miscellaneous comfy things to be loving, comforting, and reassuring for those who need it is always a nice touch.
• Making a charm for a healthy, happy, and protected home! I made a little witch ball out of a plastic Christmas ornament and some items that matched my intent and it’s been good.
• Don’t underestimate the magical nature of mundane chores. Sweeping? I like to visualize that I’m sweeping out all of the gross energy and vibes along with the grime. Vacuuming? Same deal. Airing out the house? Inviting in clear and flowing energy. As long as you make it meaningful, it is.
• If you’re into home decor, switching out wreathes and interior decorations is a good way to stay in tune with the feel of the season.
• Warding your home! This can take many forms, such as a witch ball, wind chimes, a rock guardian, or whatever else you see fit!
• Adding charged water to your cleaning supplies can really help intent and usher in the seasons. I like to use solar water with some lemon to welcome in the spring and summer and moon water with some chai spices to welcome in fall and winter. Some people like to use this method for a magical mopping scenario, I just use it for the front door.
• Laundry magic is real, y'all. Even if you don’t make your own detergent or fabric softener, you can buy scents that correspond with certain intents (citrus for joy, lavender for relaxation, etc).
• I enjoy working my crystals and plants in my home decor. Our little rock and plant friends are great for keeping a home feeling happy and healthy. They raise the energy of the home, but also make it a bit more inviting in feeling and appearance.
These are just a few tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way. As always, do what works best for you! If that means tweaking things or just making up a new process all together, do your thing! As long as you make your choices meaningful to you, they will serve you well. ✨
