Just a quick note that I am retiring this fan page and will no longer be updating it with Pedro content. tl;dr it's not needed anymore in this fandom.

I started it when Pedro had fewer than 5k followers here on Tumblr. Now there are hundreds of thousands, and big blogs sharing his work more widely, more quickly, and impactfully, than I ever could. My tiny pebble in the lake to promote his work, and him as a wonderful person, no longer has any impact. An argument could be made it never did. And I see the direction this fandom in general is going, and it's not a good fit for me. But I hope at least something I posted helped someone get to know Pedro and his work in a positive way. I'm not taking this page down, just no longer updating it.

In conjunction with giving up on the Reddit sub I started for Pedro, it feels like the right time to shut this door. I wish everyone supporting Pedro in a positive way a happy Pedro experience.

Is it transphobic to not want drag artists performing for young children? I look after my niece since I work from home and have better hours than my sister, and I was dropping her off at her private kindergarten and it was there that I was told that a drag act burlesque style show would be performing for the kids a few days later… I don’t think I’m transphobic nor homophobic but I was called such for saying I think such things are inappropriate for young children and children in general and I would only allow a teenager to watch or know that sort of thing and that a more child appropriate act would be better like Paw Patrol or a Disney musical theatre act

Can and do kids watch other shows where people put on specialized clothing and make up and perform? Yes, they do. Do people worry about the children? No, they don't. This is worry about men performing as women, not the children. And what exactly is wrong about men performing as women? You do know the design of Ursula in the Little Mermaid, a Disney musical theater act, is based on a famous drag performer, right??

What exactly do you think the drag show performers are going to do to the kids? What is your concern here?

I am far more concerned about kids going to church than a drag show because the number of pastors and priests who have sexually assaulted children outweighs drag performers by about 1000x to .001.

Are you conflating drag with burlesque style, or is the school? Because these are nowhere near the same things. WTF? No, children should not go to a burlesque show. Drag is not burlesque.

I'd love the receipts where this school is showing burlesque to their kindergartners. Link?

I don't abide paparazzi pictures*, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny, fics about teacher/student relationships (because I was a teacher and college adjunct professor and just hard fucking no. It's a power imbalance that can never be equalized, I don't care how old the student is. It's morally wrong to me to take advantage of a power dynamic for sexual purposes), age gap fics, racism or negative stereotypes about Latines and/or Hispanics, being a dumbass in general, doxxing (including discussing Pedro's living situation or whereabouts for the purpose of stalking), and other stuff I forget until I see it.

I don't tolerate things just to be nice that violate my boundaries. I'm not a nice person.

However, I will take my earrings out on the spot for people I fuck with.

This accurately describes why I don’t want to participate in the paparazzi/stalking culture. I don’t care if the celebrity “knew what they were getting into.” It’s the exact same argument as “she knew what she was wearing.” It is not the celebrity’s responsibility to make sure I respect their boundaries.
