hey guys a strange dog-shaped rodent got into my house and tried to steal my wallet, what do i do (shoutout to the rodent for sitting politely while i took these pictures)
a few times, i tried to think of other characters that could be swapped around in the pikmin swap au, but for some reason it's hard to come up with anything interesting. my friend and i were talking a few months ago and he mentioned that he was also separately thinking about the same thing and ended up coming to the exact same conclusion. i don't know how or why it's like this, it just simply is
with that said, after dwelling on it more since then, i think the one exception to the "no other interesting swaps" so far is the president and his wife. there's potential with the competent, career-focused boss who's so terrifying that even ollie (who may or may not have intentionally caused the debt in the first place) is willing to go to the death planet of doom to fix everything (if only initially), alongside her husband and company's treasurer (partially due to nepotism, partially due to love, and partially so the loan shark plotline still makes sense) whose suddenly forced to become the temporary president when his wife heads to pnf-404. also, i think the wife's whistle would be an airhorn, siren, or some other sound that's supposed to mean "hey! pay attention! this is important!!"
polistaub: construction worker-themed pokemon based off of mud daubers (a species of wasp that builds nests out of mud)
lumeldrish: ice/psychic type mythical inspired by lovecraftian gods and deep sea creatures. people think it fell from space into the ocean, but that might just be a tall tale
unnamed opossum: pokemon that can swap between its normal/poison form and ghost/poison form during battle
reveire and fluorenom: two completely unrelated pokemon that mimic each other. their ability disguises their typing and name, forcing you to rely on context clues and guesswork to figure out which one you’re fighting. inspired by müllerian mimicry
geighell: fire/steel type inspired by the scaly foot gastropod (a deep sea snail species that grows iron on itself). its ability lets it take zero damage from fire type moves; instead, they boost geighell’s attack and triggers its form change (which is probably purely aesthetic tbh)
bantket: pokemon inspired by picnics and ants, with mechanics based around sv’s picnics
sorromento: pure psychic pokemon inspired by the origin of the phrase “crocodile tears”: people used to believe crocodiles cried when they ate prey
mutualisect: bug/poison pokemon inspired by mutualism and some bug species' tendency to farm fungi for food. convergent form of parasect
tuteery: pokemon inspired by edutainment children cartoons
skratto: pokemon based off of the "mysterious wasteland survivor/wanderer" archetype and cockroaches (specifically cockroach species that live in the wild and avoid humans)
candor: alternative friendship evolution for trubbish. they lose the pollution theme the trubbish line has, and are based off of trashcans and recycling bins to resemble trash that has been properly disposed of
i spent over four hours on this and at least half of it was while i was in a car. anyways blake lore (maybe (i still don’t know my own interpretation‘s lore))
Funny suggestion for your consideration, Ollie only got involved with the koppaites out of fear they would try and colonize pnf-404. He took the duck so he had an alibi why he was gone (found treasure)
discussed this with The Council (my friend) and yeah that’s pretty accurate. ollie’s also pretty annoyed by them taking fruit, but that’s moreso a minor grievance he has.
in fact, i think that’s a pretty consistent part of his character; he sees people on pnf-404 and immediately assumes “oh no, they’re here to ruin the planet! i have to stop them now!!” after all, there’s no way everyone on pnf-404 “accidentally crashed”, right?
anyways turns out the duck thing didn’t work so well for him

i think about the silly pikmin au i created a very normal amount. anyways i downloaded olimar and louie’s pikmin 3 models and edited the textures what do you guys think
some swap au ollie lore (a bit of context for the first part, the tweet i was responding to suggested at the end that he might be angry at the rescue corps for curing the leaflings)
