Maverick/Lark song time as I recently made a ValAngel playlist and while they ain’t quite to that level of toxic, the vibes are there. So borrowing some of the songs from that playlist for them.

Tamagotchi by ieuan - Okay this one is tricky since Lark doesn’t actually mind, to some extent, that Maverick is just using him. Like he knows that is what’s going on. But in his heart….he wants to be more! (I want them to be more). Plus a lot of the lyrics even outside the chorus fit them.

Between Breaths (An XX Perspective) by Blaqk Audio - The number of ships I could use this song for…really do adore this song. It’s very much just a sex song that speaks for itself. But it’s the desperation and obsession in it that I love. Works well for Maverick/Lark. Also a song for them that’s for sure from Maverick’s POV for a change!

Won’t by Darci - Lark’s antisocial vibe. But it’s really the “my heart’s been colder my devastation’s been waiting for me” line that I love about the song. Like it’s maybe kind of romantic in wanting to be alone with your significant other, but that vibe still lingers.

Updated the Family List, since I liked how having the character pictures makes it much easier to scan who is with who (and helps with same name or COTD characters to know who they even are). The info I had at the top of the family page I just added to the “About” page. The ChampionVerse family page is still in there, you just have to go to the Orre tab and the link is in there. Credits for the region pics and code itself is also in the Orre tab. Figured Orre will never have a lot of families so easy one to have the links in.

Okay…I still stand by the Pokemon world being lax with criminals so Lysandre is def getting out of prison post XY (in ChampionVerse where he lives) at some point not too far in the future, but I had a vision to the “prison wife” memes I’ve seen floating around and that’s Augustine. He’s the “prison wife” visiting his condemned man and raising Colvis until his man is out. Clovis being conceived at all we probably some convoluted plan involving Xerosic and it giving him a better claim on him totally being Lysandre’s partner, what are you talking about. Like that whole thing is vague at this point but Augustine is pretty desperate to help Lysandre in a verse here he lives so he’s willing to do what needs to be done.

But yes, go google “prison wife memes” cause they truly are a vision.

I’m adding brief little description to the region tabs on the ChampionVerse family list and it got me thinking about how while Green/Ethan and N/Nate are meant to be each rival character getting with the “wrong protag” who reminds them a bit of their proper “true love protag,” both Ethan and Nate very much admire Red and Hilbert, respectively. With Nate especially, I’ve always seen him as having a bit of a celebrity crush on Hilbert. And Ethan is confirmed bi (even tho it takes him a while to realize that about himself) in my verse so like….what I’m saying is those two would probably be very open to a threesome route. Green and N wouldn’t even need to cheat. Their spouses would be down for bringing in those specific third members, their partner would just need to ask.

Although it’s only Green I can see being tempted to cheat. N is not struggling with that impulse. With N/Hilbert in ChampionVerse, I see it that Hilbert is the one who’s tempted to cheat but stays loyal to Cheren and also doesn’t really want to do that to N. Feels like he’d be taking advantage of N (cause home wrecking the happiness he’s found). So he takes the affair on Cheren’s end extra hard (it’s what he wanted to do, so how dare Cheren go through with it while he’s been restraining himself. Like I can see Cheren bringing up Hilbert’s obvious feelings for N while they’re fighting about things. How he’s been basically emotionally cheating and then the whole thing blows up even worse).

But yes, I’m not committed to it but Green/Ethan/Red and N/Nate/Hilbert sit there as perfectly valid and possible OT3s for ChampionVerse cause Ethan and Nate would be down for it.

It's that time again!! I make a new page for the Family List and people get the axe since I felt a feeling of unhappiness as I was added some and took that as a sign.

I tried to spare this ship. I really did, as Rosa/Curtis are a perfectly fine ship. But I just feel nothing for this fam and got nada for Briar, which won't do since I like all the other Unova Protag fams a lot. Ship wise I'm going to try out Rose/Iris for a bit with a brand new kid named Juno. Briar gets thrown back into my name bank. I briefly considered Rosa/Yancy but it has the same issue as Curtis/Rosa, so I figure if I actually switch up my Rosa (make her focus on the trainer end of things, not acting) that might help. My vibe for Iris/Rosa at the moment it that they're together but live separate a lot. So Iris is off doing Champion stuff while Rosa is traveling around with the kid (basically doing what Nate does in ChampionVerse)

Have too many Unova kids in limbo right now so need to axe the ones who have the least amount of substance in my mind.

Super quick 3 minute edit of Waitress Aurora I'm throwing here so I don't lose it. Needed it for the new family page. It's just the Waitress model from BDSP with slight color changes to match the pixel version from BW. Since minus the bangs being different, the models are fairly similar.

But yes, Hilda's wife and Jordan's mom. She's a bit of a nothing NPC in-game but I'm still fond of her.

This is one of those ships I feel kind of clever about since it’s noticeable in the games that Mallow and Olivia have some kind of a connection. Like sure, it’s due to living in the same town and Mallow’s fam having the best restaurant around, but I always wanted to do something in the next gen to keep them connected somehow.

And then the anime went and developed Mallow’s older brother and introduced him as having a futile crush on that one waitress and Olivia in game laments on not having a boyfriend and I just felt there was potential there. Both have goals they pursue but have that “looking for love” vibe in the background. I think they could compliment each other well. Also since Olivia is shown to love Mallow’s family’s cooking, surely that would extend to Ulu’s cooking. Boy has got an in!

So yes, part of it was just to have Mallow be Olivia’s sister in law to keep that connection, but I did find the idea of Ulu cooking his way to Olivia’s heart cute. So even were I to cut their kid, these two are still for sure a couple in this verse.

Also the ages are kind of placeholders so those might change. I defaulted to Ulu is 21 and Olivia is 29 in SuMo but might adjust.

Can’t recall if past me has ever outright spelled this out or not but the true way to tell that Chili is the most well adjusted of the Striaton Triplets is that he abandons his fake made up surname Ghetsis gave them when he gets married while Cilan does not. Cress would have too (but that’s because of gender roles vs him being willing to let go of his past. Fool would have taken Harmonia in a heartbeat had Ghetsis been willing) but Cilan maintaining the illusion he’s totally normal and well adjusted and Clement changing his surname to Pratt while Chili abandons his surname and takes Burgundy’s surname is a sign.

Paris by Caro Emerald - this is The Calem Song for me. Spot on how I view him during XY. Could break it down line by line but it really is the whole song. Encapsulates his journey.

Look Over Your Shoulder by Kwabs - another good vibe song for how Calem is during XY (and even how he is prior to XY). Vices and bad decisions slowly catching up with him.

These get their own section since are from a Team Flare Wins AU of sorts? Labeled as Dystopian AU in my doc and I decided on most of them while channeling the Team Flare Wins AU since Calem (along with Serena and Shauna) stay with Lysandre and Team Flare for a while after Lys successfully fires the Ultimate Weapon. They do eventually run away (and are found by Lucas who’s traveled the destroyed region with Giratina) but Calem is having a relationship with Lysandre while in the group before the running away part. Calem is not not going to fuck the guy just because he whipped out (what he thought was) the rest of humanity. Boy has poor coping mechanisms at the best of times, he’s way worse here. (And on Lysandre’s end he’s maybe not as happy with the outcome of things as he thought he’d be so why not distract himself with Calem when the doubt starts to build).

So these are Lysandre/Calem songs but don’t work for Mainverse. But they count as Calem songs for me since are all from his POV

Won’t Win by Fractures - This one can kinda sorta work for Mainverse a little. Ish. Honestly though this is just Team Flare Wins!Calem and how his story progresses down that branch. Lysandre may have “won,” but Calem does bounce back.

Your Joy Is My Low by IAMX - Fully a Team Flare Wins AU song. Very spot on vibe for how Calem would feel in the immediate aftermath of the situation. But also they’re fucking about it.

What Kind Of Man by Florence + The Machine - Okay 100% this does work really well as a Lys/Sycamore song but still. Is my “well…if I made them endgame!” song. So Team Flare Wins AU but Calem doesn’t leave. Or just in the fantasy themed AUs where they’re together (Fire Emblem AU being one). Like sure they might be endgame, but it’s still Lysandre so can’t see them as being happy.

Some Tierno/Calem songs since surely that counts for developing them vs actually writing fic. To me, they’re a bit of an angsty couple, but by the fankid era, are rock solid so the angst of the early years isn’t apparent. It’s mostly related to Calem toying with Tierno in the early part of their relationship, Tierno falls in love fast, and then the revelation of how Calem kinda sucks comes out once The Bun In The Oven From Another Man is revealed. Also all of these songs are from Tierno’s POV

Forget Me Not by Thieves Like Us - Song from shortly after The Revelation. Tierno does distance himself from Calem for a while post XY since while he tries to remain upbeat, is pretty hurt by the whole thing. Feels used and wants to forget Calem but also doesn’t. Still sees him since is part of the friend group after all. Tierno is torn on what he wants. Fav line from this song is “if I could break your heart of stone, would you be mine, would you be mine” since the heart of stone thing is spot on to how Calem is viewed by the friend group due to the whole ordeal. Also…totally accurate in a sense! Tierno really was able to break that heart of stone in the end and was what won Calem over.

Cardiac Arrest by Bad Suns - Boy has been reeled back in. This is that time period a couple years post XY when they rekindle things. Tierno knows a relationship with Calem is maybe not the best idea considering how things went down last time, but can’t deny the attraction. He’s more cautious this time and tries to hold back his feelings, but again, is torn on things when it comes to Calem.

Giving It All by Bondax - This one is more just a general song on how Tierno feels about Calem. So could be interpreted as before The Revelation or after they rekindle things (I lean towards the later since boy knows to be alarmed once he realizes he’s falling in love again).

And there’s the progression in a nutshell! Tierno giving his all and ultimately it’s his Good Boy Heart that wins Calem over. Calem’s manipulative nature is worn down by Tierno’s kindness and sincerity. And thus why I view it that of all the potential suitors Calem could have gotten with, Tierno is who he would be the happiest with. No one else would have been able to remain as sincere and steadfast as Tierno when dealing with Calem longterm. The only one who can soften Calem to the extent he does.

Been listing to my playlist for the canon characters while working on background pages for this blog (once again, highly recommend making playlists for your AUs. Works great as a motivation thing to just turn it on and get in the vibe) and figured I should throw some songs out I haven’t posted yet. So just some random characters songs from the list.

Morty

November Corrosion by Ashbury Heights - This is very much me channeling how Morty has more in common with Lonan than I tend to talk about. Lonan’s visions and sleep issues aren’t from being a Faller after all, he gets it from his dad. To me, this song is about Morty’s visions and also how, in some sense, Morty has a curse that follows him around. Not in a literal sense but there’s a lingering something there. I’ve alluded to this before, that it’s something about Morty that brings misfortune to the family, but it’s related to his affinity for ghosts combined with his clairvoyance. Attracts things. But I also like the “embrace the break of day” line that repeats in this song despite the dour lyrics throughout the rest of it. Cause that’s how I see Morty approaching things. Tries to move forward and not let hardships drag him down. Again, Lonan and Morty are fairly similar in how they deal with situations (something something even without memories of his parents, Lonan still carries parts of them around with him).

Cilan

Masque by Ashbury Heights - Very much related to him being part of the Shadow Triad and raised by Ghetsis. And all the baggage that brings him. My take on Cilan is while Chili is probably the most well adjusted of the brothers and Cress is the least well adjusted (but just kinda embraces and runs with it), Cilan is about as ill-adjusted as Cress but hides it much better. Comes across as a normal dude but if he ever flipped…he’s still got that Shadow Triad edge in him.

Settle For Satin by Alkaline Trio - Another Shadow Triad themed song. Really just this and the previous song are a good tell on how I tend to characterize Cilan. My unconventional take on his true personality.

Tierno

Coco Jamboo by Mr. President - Ending with something light hearted! Really just this song is a vibe for Tierno to me, vs the lyrics fitting super well. The main chorus as least fits him I feel.
