truly believe that abijah with heiji is like the healthiest example of him operating within a “relationship.” and that is not to say that it is healthy, it’s just to say that’s the best anyone’s ever really going to get from him. he most likely won’t kill you and you’re 7 times out of 10 immune from the (physical) aspect of his man child tantrums, but that’s about it. at least heiji has thick skin because abijah would make any sane person cry with the way he attacks peoples insecurities, character and traumas just for giggles. (“my right hand man- oh, that was tasteless of me…” along with many other examples.) he can’t commit to save his life because he has absolutely no desire to, so he will be seeing other people without a doubt. but at least heiji can circumvent that by having it be something they both do together. even so, i’m positive they’ve done shit behind each other’s backs as well because it’s in their nature to be deceptive and cruel.

they both lay in bed, tangled up, sleeping with one eye open and weapons under pillows because they are both keenly aware of the volatile nature the other possesses && they don’t delude themselves of that fact. but abijah is warm, and his heart beat is like bait dangling from a hook, and no one will ever understand heiji and his peculiarities like the man beside him. one day they know this will end, and one of them will die; in their minds, at each other’s hands. but this shared moment is nice, and two opportunists can enjoy each other’s company for the time being.

BES thoughts

So the three ‘second in commands’ or ‘right hand men’ in the show (Seki, Shindo, and Ringo) have a couple of similarities that is starting to gnaw at me. Both Shindo and Ringo have a theme regarding the loss of hands or living without them, and in the end both Seki and Shindo die. Ringo and Seki both fulfill the role of being the only emotional caregivers to their masters in the show. I definitely think there’s a theme regarding those on their quest for power and their right hands/apprentices.

This also plays into the theory that. Ringo my beloved. He is not lasting long. Both Seki and Shindo are dead, with Seki’s death having a profound effect on Akemi. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ringo is the next to go.

Just fun to think about. The Apprentice of the Samurai, the Assistant to the Empress, and The Right Hand of the Tyrant.

Something to consider: in the time from when Fowler put the flower on Shindo’s chest to when Heiji meets with Mizu and Taigen, at least two days have passed, and he is still wearing the flower. Meaning this man just kept that flower on him all the way off the island. If that isn’t the most homosexual nonsense.

Looking for BES/Fowdo mutuals, if you’re out there, I’m here. I’ve been rotating Heiji Shindo in my brain like a rotisserie chicken for the past few months.

Regarding my design for Hook…

I think I’ve said it before, but I worry that my Hook looks far too much like the Disney version, which is not my intention (I’ve just simply been drilled to accept the Disney version as what is the norm).
