Imagineer announced today that a new Medarot compilation is headed to the Nintendo Switch in Japan. Medarot Classics Plus contains all of the games from the 2017 Nintendo 3DS release, as well as three games developed for the Gameboy Advance. The Medarot franchise’s first mobile entry has received some more information. Courtesy of the latest Medarot News video on YouTube, we now know the names of the game’s lead human protagonists. The male is Arase Ohsumi with the heroine known as Hisaki Kaguya. Both names are inspired by Japanese satellites. The name of the mysterious new lead Medarot remains to be revealed.

The video also showcases a brief glimpse at gameplay footage for Medarot S. Shown without any audio, the clip demonstrates the returning relay-based battle system.

Additionally, it’s been confirmed that Tyuga, who’s drawn art for a variety of Medarot products, is responsible for the game’s character designs. To celebrate, he posted an original drawing of the two human leads (above).

Last week’s issue of Famitsu also contained a few new details on the game. Notably, it listed the game’s development as 60% complete.

Earlier this week, fan translation group Star Trinket released an English-language patch for Medarot R. A home console spinoff starring Ikki Tenyrou, the game was originally released on the PlayStation in 1999.

Unlike other side stories in the Medarot franchise, this entry keeps the traditional relay RPG battle system. The game’s character designs were created by Kenki Fujioka. It was only ever released in Japan, with development handled by Natsume with Imagineer publishing.

The work done by Star Trinket is exhaustive. All text inside the game has been translated into English for the first time. This includes menus, battle screens and dialogue. Their work can be played on any PlayStation emulator, provided the user procures an ISO of the game disc and properly applies the translation patch.

The release marks the first completed fan translation of a Medarot video game. The group currently operates a Patreon.

After months of silence, Imagineer has revealed the first information regarding the Medarot franchise’s proper debut on mobile devices. Titled Medarot S: Unlimited Nova, the smartphone title will feature the mainline game series’ renown 3-on-3 relay battle system. The story sees a novice Medarotter competing in the Medalympics after receiving a Medarot through unusual means. It’s said the winner of the tournament will have any wish come true. Can a rookie stand up against some of the best around, much less some shady characters?
