Teachers have a lot to sell—their knowledge, experience, and love for teaching. The cover letter is your chance to sell yourself as a teacher who’s great at connecting with students and helping them grow. Here are some tips for what should go in your cover letter:
You’re applying to teach in Qatar so you’ve got to stand out!
The cover letter is a great place to highlight your teaching philosophy and experience. You can also mention awards, accomplishments, or other things that make you stand out as a candidate.
If you have specialised knowledge in the subject matter being taught at the school where you’re applying, include it here! For example: “I am an expert on the history of art.”
Show you are ready for a teaching job in Qatar by mentioning your impact.

Qatar is a small country but it has a lot of food to offer. From meat and rice, to some of the best restaurants in the world.
I loved the food in Qatar! When I was teaching in Qatar most meals were eaten out. It wasn’t always about the top quality restaurants but also the little gems which sold food very cheap meaning that you salary earned teaching in Qatar can go much further.

When searching for Qatar teaching jobs, many International educators may find that working in Qatar has its unique challenges. For example, as a UK teacher working in Qatar, I found that the majority of my students were English language learners (EAL). This was a significant difference compared to my experiences teaching in England. In the UK, I had to adapt my teaching for small groups of EAL students, usually from one specific location, such as Ukrainian students affected by the war.

I’ve been an expat teacher in Qatar. I taught geography at a high school and I also did some 1 to 1 tuition. I worked with teachers from the UK and further afield. Some were traditional school teachers whilst some were TEFL teachers. I also knew many other expats who weren’t teachers. I’ve also had plenty of time to explore the country and its people. Here are some things that stood out:

Is Qatar a safe place for UK teachers to live?
Qatar is an exciting place to teach, and on the whole, Qatar is a very safe place to live. Moving to a country like Qatar can be quite a scary thought and one thing that really scares us is the unknown. Now, if we multiply that by a sense of danger, this is enough to put you off.
To help you get a better understanding of teaching in Qatar, I thought it would be best to explain how safe it is in Qatar.
