❤️❤️❤️
Part 1 - Menu Icons
This section explains the menu icons, starting from the top left, and their submenus.
Status/Settings (じょうたい・せってい)
Status
Settings (せってい)
Time Settings (じかんせってい)
Brightness Settings (あかるさせってい)
Sound Settings (サウンドせってい)
Icon Background (アイコンバック)
These basic options allow you to adjust the brightness of your screen, turn the sound on/off, and change the background image behind your main menu. Status screen information can be found in the Raising Your Tama section.
Meals/Snacks (ごはん・おやつ)
Refrigerator (れいぞうこ)
Cafe Restaurant (カフェレストラン)
Meals (ごはん)
Snacks (おやつ)
You can eat food stored in your home fridge, or go out to a restaurant to eat. Meals will usually fill up two hunger points on your Tama’s hunger meter, while snacks will fill one or none at all, but boost your Tama’s happiness.
Toilet/Bath (トイレ・おふろ)
Toilet (トイレ)
Bath (おふろ)
If you catch your Tama shivering and looking tense, they probably have to use the toilet! The bath option should be used when your Tama gets dirty (their colour will turn muddy).
Connection/Password (ツーしん・パスワード)
Tamagotchi M!X (たまごっちm!x)
Play (あそぶ)
Fortune Telling (うらない)
Item Exchange (アイテムこうかん)
Give (あげる)
Receive (もらう)
Propose (プロポーズ)
Confirm (はい)
Cancel (いいえ)
Download (ダウンロード)
PC
These are your options for connecting with other devices. Unlike some older models of Tamagotchi, the m!x doesn’t have IR or NFC capabilities, which means its connections are limited to other m!x units, and m!x Download Stations which can be found in retail locations in Japan. The PC option will let you input a password to play with your Tama on your mobile device or computer, which you can find out more about in the Connecting to My m!x Land section.
Family (ファミリー)
Papa and Mama’s House (パパとママのいえ)
Family Tree (かけいず)
Family Photo (かぞくしゃしん)
Sending your Tama to Papa and Mama’s house acts as a babysitter for your Tama, useful for when you’re busy and can’t pay close attention to its needs. It can stay there until 5:00 pm, at which point it will come home on its own. The family tree option will let you have a look at your Tama’s ancestry up until now.
Out on the Town (じぶんのタウンへおでかけ)
Tama Department Store (たまデパ)
Shopping (かいもの)
Renovate (リフォーム)
Item Shop (アイテムショップ)
Tama Fashion (たまファッション)
Jewellery (ジュエリー)
Arcade (ゲームコーナー)
Rainbow Paint (にじいろペイント)
Star Catch (ほし☆キャッチ)
Park (こうえん)
Plaza (ひろば)
Playroom (プレイルーム)
The Tama Department Store lets you purchase goodies, renovate your house, and play games with your Tama. The park plaza is where you can encounter various Tama friends at different times of the day. The Playroom is a babysitting option much like Papa and Mama’s House… but be careful, as you need to pick up your Tama BEFORE 5:00 pm from the Playroom or else they’ll get upset and lose happiness points.
Tama Friends’ Towns (たまともたちのタウンへおでかけ)
Town Name
Park (ひろば)
Town Store
Meals (ごはん)
Snacks (おやつ)
Goods (おどうぐ)
Accessories (アクセサリー)
Town Attraction
Propose (プロポーズ)
I’ve written a generic menu here, as every town is slightly different. Meals and snacks you buy in other towns’ stores will be stored in your refrigerator so you can eat them later.
Treasure Box (たからばこ)
Goods (おどうぐ)
Accessories (アクセサリー)
Cleaning Supplies (おそうじグッズ)
Special (スペシャル)
This is where you can let your Tama play with its toys or equip accessories you’ve bought for it. Cleaning supplies should be used when your Tama’s home gets dirty (it will turn a muddy colour). Special goods are one of a kind items you can obtain through various means, such as discount coupons for the Tama Department Store.
Journal (てちょう)
Tama Friends List (たまともリスト)
Friends Journal (ともだちてちょう)
Commemorative Photo (きねんしゃしん)
Tama Friends will display your relationship status with marriageable characters you’ve met at different towns. Blue indicates acquaintances, green indicates friends, orange indicates lovers or good friends, while red indicates true love or best friends. The Friends Journal shows you a record of Tamas you’ve connected to on other m!x units, while the Commemorative Photo gallery lets you look at pictures you’ve taken with friends’ Tamas on other m!x units.
First Aid Kit (きゅうきゅうばこ)
Use this option when your Tama is sick or has a toothache.
❤️❤️❤️
Part 2 - Raising Your Tama
Like any Tamagotchi, the object of the m!x is to help your Tama lead a happy, healthy life by keeping their hunger and happiness meters full. You can check these parameters on the status screen.
Status Screen The status screen has two pages. The first shows your Tamagotchi along with your name, their name and gender. Pressing A will take you to the second, which displays your Tamagotchi’s happiness (あいじょー, the rainbow bar), hunger (おなか, the rice balls), generation (せだい), age (才), and money (G).
Try to keep your Tamagotchi’s happiness meter full by taking it to meet friends, going to town attractions, feeding it snacks it likes, or playing games with it. Keep its hunger meter full by feeding it meals.
If you leave your Tama sad or hungry for too long, or neglect to clean their mess for a while, this counts as a mistake in raising them, also known as a care miss, and will negatively impact them.
Life Stages Tamagotchis in m!x have four distinct life stages. They’ll hatch from an egg and start out as babies, who need constant attention as their hunger and happiness meters run out very quickly. After an hour or two, they’ll grow into toddlers, whose form will be different depending on how they were taken care of as babies. After around 24 hours they’ll grow into teens, again dependent on the care they got until this stage, and finally after another 24 hours they’ll grow into their final adult form, known as the Friend stage. At this stage they can be married when they reach the required affection level with a Tama of the opposite gender.
Every Tamagotchi has slightly different depletion rates for their hunger and happiness, and each likes different foods, toys, and accessories, as you can see in the Tamagotchi Profiles section.
How to Raise a Certain Tama Your first generation Tama in m!x is dependent on how you care for them. These are the requirements for getting a certain Tama at each stage of life.
Toddlers Tantotchi/Puchitomatchi: Happiness above 10 points. Nanahotchi/Mittsubotchi: Happiness below 10 points.
Teens Haretchi: 0-2 care misses. Happiness above 20 points. Eritchi: 3-5 care misses. Happiness above 20 points. Soyofuwatchi: 6 or more care misses. Happiness above 20 points. Mokokotchi: 0-2 care misses. Happiness below 20 points. Tororitchi: 3-5 care misses. Happiness below 20 points. Waamuwaamutchi: 6 or more care misses. Happiness below 20 points.
Female Friends Lovelitchi: 0-2 care misses. Memetchi: 3-4 care misses. Nijifuwatchi: Turn your town into the Sky type. Flowertchi: 5-6 care misses, OR turn your town into the Flower type. Momotchi: 7 or more care misses.
Male Friends Mametchi: 0-2 care misses. Kuchipatchi: 3-4 care misses, OR turn your town into the Forest type. Yotsubatchi: Turn your town into the Flower type. Gozarutchi: 5-6 care misses, OR turn your town into the Japanese type. Shimagurutchi: 7 or more care misses.
After the first generation, children’s appearances will be based on their parents rather than the level of care they receive growing up.
❤️❤️❤️
Part 3 - Marriage and Mixing
Once your Tama has reached the Friend stage, you can have them marry another Tama to produce a child.
Have your Tama visit the town of their intended partner and play with them as much as possible. Bringing toys that the partner likes will help raise their affection level faster. You can check their affection level in the Journal > Tama Friends List screen. Once they’ve reached at least orange affection, your Tama can propose to them via the propose option in the intended partner’s town. Proposing requires a ring, which can be bought in the Tama Department Store. There are two types of rings – an expensive diamond ring will have a better success rate than a regular ring.
Alternately, you can wait for your Tama to be proposed to, if you’d rather avoid buying a ring at all. Once a Tama friend’s affection level is red, visiting them is likely to trigger a proposal. You have three answers you can give to a proposal: Yes (はい), No (いいえ), or Let me think about it (かんがえさせて). Saying no will result in bumping that Tama friend’s affection back down to friendship, while asking for time to think about it won’t affect their affection level, but will trigger the proposal again next time.
After the wedding… Congratulations, your Tama won over their love and they’ve gotten married! They’ll soon have an egg which will grow into a new baby Tama.
The baby Tama will stay with their parents until the toddler stage, at which point they’ll move out into their own home. Unlike the first generation Tama, this one will have an appearance that’s a combination of both their parents’ looks.
❤️❤️❤️

Part 5 - Your Town and Special Events
Park Plaza Aside from shopping and playing games at the Tama Department Store, there are many characters your Tama can interact with in the Plaza in your town. The following characters will appear at different times of the day.
7:00 am - 10:59 am: Miraitchi, Lovesoratchi 11:00 am - 3:59 pm: Clulutchi, Kyawatchi 4:00 pm - 6:59 pm: Miraitchi, Chamametchi 7:00 pm - 9:59 pm: Clulutchi, Motetchi
There are also a few special events that take place in the plaza.
Once a day between 7:00 am - 8:59 am: Morning market. A saleslady will offer you various goods and accessories from different towns for half price. On the 10th, 20th and 30th of the month between 10:00 am - 2:59 pm: Zero Garbage Day. The Eco Bunnies will visit to pick up litter, and leave you with a special gift. The eco bag gives you a discount at the Tama Department Store, the eco fork gives you a discount on food at the restaurant or other town shops, and the eco badge is a toy to raise your Tama’s happiness.
Town Types Your home town can change appearance based on different factors.
There are nine types of town: town, forest, sky, sea, flower, Japanese, sweets, space, and music. When raising your first Tama, some Friends require a certain town type. The type can be influenced by using matching items and renovating the Living Room with the same theme. Example: You want your first Tamagotchi to grow into Kuchipatchi, so you renovate your Living Room to the Forest Living Room and play with items such as the Forest Doll until the town’s type changes to Forest.
After your first generation, the Town type will generally change based on the Tamagotchi you’re raising at the time – Gozarutchi’s child might turn the town to Japanese type, Nijifuwatchi’s child might turn the town to Sky type, and so on.
Seasonal Events Like previous Tamagotchi versions, there are seasonal events that will happen throughout the year. They are usually triggered by going into the front garden. These are only some of the cute and surprising events that can take place:
April 1 - April 30: Cherry blossoms with Harurutchi May 1 - May 5: Children’s Day carp banner event June 1 - June 30: Surprise proposal from the postman July 1 - August 31: Beach scenery appears September 15 - September 30 from 7:00 pm - 9:59 pm: Moon viewing with dumplings Summer evenings: Fireworks event
If anyone has exact dates and times for more surprise events, please feel free to let me know!
❤️❤️❤️

Seashell Match (かいがらあわせ)
Rainbow Paint (Located in the Tamagotchi Department Store)
This cute rainbow-themed game features Hapihapitchi as a side character. The objective is to paint the missing colours of the rainbow onscreen. You can choose two colours at a time to fill the missing colours, so for example, if the missing colour is red, select red twice. If it’s green, select blue then yellow to make green. A selects a colour while B confirms your choice.
Star Catch (Located in the Tamagotchi Department Store)
The objective of this game is to catch the falling stars and UFOs around your Tama. Wait until the word キャッチ appears at the bottom of your screen, and look for the star or UFO that’s falling close to you. If it’s on the left side of the screen, catch it with the A button, and if it’s on the right, catch it with the B button. Stars require one button press, while UFOs will need you to press the button quickly twice in a row.
Pikagoro Thunder (Located in Rainbow Hills)
This game requires your character to help Nijifuwatchi dodge Pikagorotchi’s lightning strikes. Lightning bolts will strike from two of the three clouds above Nijifuwatchi. Use A or B to move her left or right to avoid the strikes.
Ninja Mansion (Located in Gozaru Village)
This is a sliding puzzle game featuring Gozarutchi. Help him escape from the roof of the mansion by sliding the panels of the puzzle to match the guide on the left. A selects a panel while B moves it. Panels can only be moved if there is an empty space adjacent to them.
Watawata Cotton Candy (Obtained from m!x Download Station, Summer 2016)
This downloadable game features Watawatatchi as a cotton candy vendor. Count the number of cotton candies she makes and sells to figure out how many she has left in stock when asked. The A button selects a number and B button confirms your choice. Answer correctly three times to win.
Seashell Match (Obtained from m!x Download Station, Summer 2016)
This downloadable game is a mermaid-themed concentration game. A number of Tamas will be revealed to you for a few seconds at the start of the game, then they’ll be hidden away in seashells. Remember the matching pairs and select them to win the game. A button selects a shell while B button confirms your choice. You can make a few mistakes before the game counts a loss.

Part 8 - Connecting to My m!x Land
My m!x Land is a website that lets you interact with your Tama on your PC or mobile web browser.
The first step is to create a Namco Bandai account, which can be done through the above link in English. After logging in, you can upload your family tree information by inputting the password found in your Family Tree menu on your m!x, or play games with your Tama using the PC option in your m!x.
❤️❤️❤️
Part 9 - Help! FAQ and Troubleshooting
When I press a button, my Tamagotchi m!x shows a weird cylindrical shaped character and some text, what do I do?! This is likely the low battery screen! Don’t worry, your progress won’t be lost. Just gently press the battery release button on the back of the m!x unit to slide down the battery cover, and you can replace the batteries with new ones. When your Tama turns on again, you’ll have two options – choose the top one to continue where you left off last time, or the bottom one to ERASE all your data and progress and start fresh.

This amused me more than the actual photo.
Anyway, I accidentally killed my poor Tamagotchi because I misplaced it! I’ll start a new baby over the weekend!

Tamagotchi x Sanrio m!x available g1 characters and pre-adult stages, from the Tamagotchi Wikia. Even later generation pre-adults follow these growth stages, so I use this as a guide when tagging my posts about my little ones.
