Chudley Dominates in Tie-Breaking Match!
It seemed that Puddlemere would take this match as they held onto a strong lead during the first half of the game, but Chudley came out swinging and obliterated their old rival in the end. Just as Puddlemere was beginning to claw their way back to the board, Rhys Rigby caught the snitch and sealed their fate. What looked like an easy game for our boys in blue turned into a bloodbath, and we have to admit that we’re a little more than embarrassed for them.
Chudley, on the other hand, performed admirably. After their rough start, they re-calibrated and altered their strategy to better account for both the wind and Wood’s Angels. Once they’d found their rhythm, they were unstoppable. We’re not sure we’ve ever seen a team net such a startling number of points so quickly, but it was thrilling to watch. Those of you at home missed a comeback to rival their World Cup victory last season.
Unfortunately, Edinburgh didn’t learn from the mistakes made in Dublin. Rather than rushing the field this time, a few Puddlemere fans started a full-blown brawl after the final call. Though we could harp on the necessity of checking wands, we do have to admit that it was thrilling to watch the madness unfold as fans turned against the referees and anyone wearing a particular shade of orange. One of our very own reporters was hit with a color change charm that made their Cannons jersey a nice shade of Puddlemere blue. Don’t you worry, though, Chudley’s fans held their own and fought back with admirable force until aurors arrived on the scene and put an end to the chaos.
Some sort of retaliation was bound to happen, though, as this game also broke the tie established between the two teams. With an extra win in their corner, it certainly seems as if Chudley’s slated to have another cup under their belt by this time next year. If Puddlemere keeps performing the way they have been, we might not even see them in the final four. This is a far cry from the team that usually flies circles around their competition, which makes us wonder exactly what’s happened to Puddlemere United? There’s still time for them to come back from this loss, readers, but we have a feeling they’ll be licking their wounds for a while yet.
Final Score
Chudley Cannons: 500  Puddlemere United: 305
Post-Game
This concludes our third game! You may now begin posting about the results of the game and post-match activities. Feel free to keep essential event threads going, but we ask that you wrap up or drop all of your non-essential threads.
Chudley’s victory party will take place at The World’s End in Edinburgh. Though the front of the pub is a hub for muggle activity, wizards can access a more suitable portion of the bar by way of an enchanted doorway toward the back of the establishment. For die-hard Puddlemere supporters, it’s rumored that the losing team has elected to drink themselves under the table at The Last Drop.
You’re free to have your characters involved in the brawl mentioned above. Autograph signings and press events will also be taking place after the game.
Our next event will take place sometime in early April! As the date approaches, I’ll offer a poll in the discord to determine what our event will be, so be on the lookout for updates!

You're back!
I am! My region was experiencing some ridiculously bad flooding, but everything seems to be in order now. I’m catching up on my work on the dash and with the event at the moment. Sorry for leaving you hanging, anon. I would’ve been here if I had the ability.

Good morning!
This is just a friendly reminder that the current game will be ending tonight at 9:00 PM EST. I’ll have the scores tallied and the winner announced by tomorrow. You should see an updated score on the main within the hour, too, so be sure to check back and see how your team is doing.
Our activity check will be conducted tonight, too, so please make sure that you’re either active or request a hiatus before that time.
Thank you all for your patience while I’ve been without internet!! I appreciate all of you.

Good morning!
This is just a reminder that, after a few messages and a vote in the Discord, our event will be extended until February 23rd at 9:00 PM EST.
Please also note that our activity policy will be changing this Sunday. Rather than doing activity checks on Friday, I’ll be conducting them on Saturdays and posting up unfollows on Sundays. This will still give people over 24 hours to respond to activity warnings, and it works with my current level of availability.
I’m excited for the next leg of our match! For an updated score, please check the sidebar on the main.

would you rather see sage blackwood or riordan ellis?
This is like being asked to choose between two of my favorite children, so I can safely say that both are equally wanted. We do have more characters connected to the Falcons at the moment, however, so I’m going to say Sage is the one we’d most like to see.

The games are scored instead of being determined?
They are! This was part of the vision of the original admin team, and it’s something that I love about this group. I don’t even know what team’s going to win the next world cup, because there’s a scoring algorithm in place to make things fair. This makes the game a challenge for both the players and myself. I’m as excited as anyone else when it comes to tallying scores, since I don’t know who’s going to win until the deadline hits and I have to audit the final scores.
Things are definitely suspenseful when it comes to matches, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

can you give us a hint about who will win the game
I genuinely cannot. Games are scored based on dash participation, which you can see in our event post. We’ve only had two games so far, but each of them have had significant twists and turns as different types of posts have appeared on the dashboard. It really is anybody’s game, so I can’t tell you who will win until 9:00 PM EST on February 16th.
As of right now, Puddlemere is up by fifteen. That might seem like a lot, but it’s really a small margin when you look at the way we score our games. More information can be found on that HERE.

Welcome to Scotland!
It’s another away game today, with Chudley and Puddlemere facing off in chilly Edinburgh. For those of you who have been living under a rock for the last few months, we feel the need to remind you that this game will break the tie between last year’s runner up and our current champions. Needless to say, we’ve been on the edge of our seats all week while we’ve watched both teams at practice and in the press box. Though both of them are in top form, only one will come out ahead. We try not to make early calls, but the word around the office is that this could very well be the game that predicts who will go on to win the World Cup. Then again, perhaps we here at Quidditch Daily have been spending a bit too much time at The World’s End. And really, who can blame us?
Ireland may have been bleak and dreary, but Edinburgh has been incredibly bright, if not a bit windy. It’s going to be a challenge to keep the quaffle in the air and on course, so the chasers are going to have their work cut out for them. Chudley might have the World Cup in their pocket, but Puddlemere is still very much out for blood. It’s anyone’s game right now, but that’s certain to change after the snitch is finally caught.
OOC details under the cut!
Timeframe/Location
This event will run from February 8th to February 16th, at which point we will expect you to stop posting event-related starters. Nothing posted past 9:00 PM EST on February 16th  will be considered for scoring the game (details on scoring can be found below).
You’re free to post game-day antics, or have your characters engaging in threads leading up to the game, but we ask that you make no mention of the winner of this game in your threads until after the event is over. This is because we’ll be scoring the game as the event plays out, then the winner will be posted.
This game will take place in Edinburgh, Scotland. The stadium can be reached by portkey, though the players have been put up in hotels in the wizarding hub of the city. Feel free to have fun with this change in location!
Scores will be updated in real time on the sidebar of the main, so you can keep track of how your team is doing!
Challenge
Every game here at Quidditch Daily will include a challenge that can be used to help your team secure victory. This week, we ask that you start a para-based thread with a character you have yet to interact with OR write a self-para about a defining moment in your character’s life. Completing this challenge will give your team an extra thirty points.
Scoring
+20 for an open starter (maximum of TWO per character)
+15 for character development posts or graphics (maximum of FIVE per character)
+10 for a closed starter (maximum of FIVE per character; the points go to the person who wrote the starter)
+5 for every reply (UNLIMITED)
You also have the option of writing articles about your character, the team they’re on, or anything related to quidditch itself. We do have journalists this go around, so we encourage that you collaborate on these articles with our journalists. Collaborations will net +15 for the journalist’s prefered team and for the team of the player with which they have collaborated. Articles written independently will net +15 only for the team of the person who wrote the article.
The team with fewer participants will receive an automatic +15 for every extra character that the opposing team has.
Once points have been tallied, the winning team will receive a +150 for catching the golden snitch.
If you have any questions, please send them to the main!

Will there be games for the Falcons and the Bats at some point? Really interested in Ember and I'd like to see them play ;)
Absolutely! Ideally, the Falcons and Bats will also get to play Chudley and Puddlemere as well. I’d love to see an application for Ember, too, because they’re one of my personal favorites. If you want to reserve a character, just message us off anon!

Do any of the teams have magical creatues as a mascot?
While some teams in the British & Irish Quidditch League do have magical mascots (the Holyhead Harpies being the first that comes to mind), none of the teams we’re currently using are in this category.
The Ballycastle Bats, however, do have a beloved mascot named Barny the Fruitbat. Some characters might recognize him from various advertisements featuring his face and the slogan “I’m just batty about Butterbeer!”

I'm interested in Gemma Beaumont. is there anything in particular you're looking for in an application for her?
I’m thrilled to know you’re interested in Gemma! Other than the details already listed on the skeleton, I’m would love to see someone delve into Gemma’s relationship with their family. It would also be great to see an application that really highlights her love for the team. Gemma’s the one who revived the Chudley Cannons Cheer Crew initiative, and I’d really like that devotion to shine through.
Thank you so much for the question! If you want to make a reservation, feel free to message us off-anon.
