on another note -- some time ago, there was once a video of Ayatsuji-sensei and Kyogoku’s voice actors (Hiroo Sasaki and Junpei Asahina respectively) doing a reading of the prologue of gaiden on youtube. It was taken down, and an anon once asked me about it. I said I’d link or say something if I found it again, and I did! You can listen to it here (skip to 5 minutes in!)

hello~ this account isn’t dead! surprise, surprise! sorry for anyone worrying! i have been occupied with irl matters and therefore lost time to focus on this piece in favor of having to take care of my obligations as an adult now. i wanted to inform you all that the continuation of the translation of the gaiden novel will once again be put in motion, as i have gained a friend who also owns a jp copy of gaiden so i don’t have to do this alone anymore!! which is a lot of weight lifted off my shoulders, and will ease the translation process. i apologize for the lack of activity, and if any of you guys have any questions, i am often on twitter (@/rchimedesu) nowadays in between work and other works i am helping with translating. 

i hope you’re all doing alright, and staying safe during the stressful situation our world is currently in.

After months of patiently waiting for the return of Oyoyo-sensei, BSD Gaiden’s manga is finally back in business! Gaiden Chapter 8 has been uploaded to web-ace, and you can read the raws here!

(We now have an official eye color for sensei behind his tinted sunglasses as well! His eyes are so gorgeous!)

HELLO EVERYONE! It’s been quite some time since this blog has been updated, and for this I deeply apologize. The members of Teal Girl Defense Scans have gotten busy with our lives, as unfortunate as it is. Your continued cooperation and support is deeply appreciated, and while I’m here, there are a few great announcements I would like to make!

1. As expected by some, Oyoyo-sensei was MIA for quite some time due to physical health issues and thus had to stop working on Gaiden during that time period. They issued a message and apology with the release of the newest chapter that came out 2 days ago on web-ace. The message is as followed:

“It’s been a long time, this is Oyoyo. Due to deterioration in physical condition, I was given time [off] from the serialization. I cannot explain, but I am sorry to make you wait. The letters and gifts I received while resting made me very happy, and I have kept them all. I will be continuing to draw for Gaiden from now on, so it would be nice if you could continue to watch over it! Gaiden App, I am counting on you as well!

- Oyoyo”

2. Gaiden is now being uploaded to Mangadex as well as Imgur from now on. You can read the current chapters on Mangadex right here!

3. For those who play Bungo Mayoi’s JP version, there was recently a whole original event Asagiri-sensei wrote for the characters of Gaiden! Though it is Gaiden related, since JP Mayoi’s translation acc is run by a different translation team (via crossfates on twitter), we will not be translating it. Those of the account have stated that the event will be translated and posted on the fandom wiki. (More on this can be found in this tweet.)

We have a few chapters to catch up on now that Oyoyo-sensei is back, but there is much to celebrate overall with the new wave of attention and material for Gaiden! It’s a lovely thing to witness, and I hope you all are as happy as we are too ♥ Thank you for reading and we hope you will continue to support Asagiri-sensei, Oyoyo-sensei, and Gaiden!

How can I see the raws? The link is perfectly fine and my web translated the japanese page into english but I can't find chapter six and seven. Please help!

Unfortunately, due to the publication of Gaiden’s manga, chapters beyond what is released in manga form has been taken down. From here on out, I’d assume that we’ll be buying the manga and scanning the pages when the next volume is released. As of right now, I haven’t heard anything about Gaiden being released in a magazine either but I’m keeping an eye out!!

it's been a while since thus blog was updated but i wanted to say real quick that the translation of the gaiden manga and novel are still going!! unfortunately the pace is really slow for now because this translation is non profit and thus my job is a priority. for the others, it's a mix of that and college. there are asks that will be answered as soon as possible and i'm sorry for the wait, everyone u_u -- Silver

The official BSD twitter has announced that along with volume 16 of the main BSD manga, Gaiden will have its first volume released on the same day - December 4th! 

Ayatsuji-sensei, you and Misaki-chan are making such a stunning manga debut! ♥ Congratulations!

On that note: the group is still behind a chapter, as we of TGS have all been busy with our own lives and have kinda-sorta been waiting for Oyoyo-sensei to return. We’ll aim to get chapter 6 (and 7) out as soon as we can - thank you for your patience, and let’s all celebrate Oyoyo-sensei’s return!

A oneshot to be more accurate, yes! It will be released with irl Tsujimura-sensei’s special edition of ‘Kinou no kagefuumi’, as that book / series in particular also shares the name of Tsujimura’s ability in BSD canon.

Hello! This question is about the answer to the last question you received, is it true that Crunchyroll will release the Dead Apple DVD with English subs? If so, where did they release the news/confirmed it?

Hi there!

Crunchyroll released the movie some time ago to watch online here (will be available next month to everyone, right now it’s only for premium users). As for them releasing a DVD of it, i meant ‘they’ as a general statement for whoever may release it with subs and not Crunchyroll in particular (I assume it’ll probably be funimation if anyone, as they released the main anime on DVD already) -- sorry for the confusion!

The DVD for the movie itself in Japanese is being released in late November according to amiami, so maybe some time next year we may have it released here dubbed or subtitled?

Hi, how are you? I have a doubt. I noticed that Ango called Tsujimura "Tsujimoto" in their last scene from Dead Apple. Is there a reason for it? I haven't had the chance to read Gaide yet, so I don't know if it's said there. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Hi there, sorry for the late response!!

Concerning the ‘tsujimoto’ comment, I would have to say it’s the fault of Crunchyroll’s translation team as there were a few other inconsistencies I noticed while watching it in theaters and again when it was released on the site. 

I’m hoping that, when it’s released on DVD with subtitles, they will fix it however. ^^;;

In continuation to this post, Harukawa-sensei also posted this art of Tsujimura to celebrate being allowed to participate in collaborating with the celebration in the form of their artwork. 

In their tweet, they say they wanted to make a ‘collab-esque’ work, and that they hope you enjoy it!

To commemorate the real Tsujimura-sensei’s ‘Yesterday’s Shadow Tag’s special publication spanning 13 volumes, Harukawa-sensei and Asagiri-sensei have gotten together to create a short manga chapter centering around Tsujimura inspired by it! Hi Silver, I was wondering if you guys know why the Gaiden manga stopped releasing for the last few months? It's just that you might know if there has been any notifications, since I don't know any Japanese to look for them thoroughly and might have missed something. (For instance, I have never seen the poster you included in the latest post till now) Thank you in advance, and have a nice day.

Unfortunately, neither I nor my team know the reason for this. I’ve been checking every other day since a month passed and there was no update, and considering how much time has passed, I’m left to assume that perhaps Oyoyo-sensei is taking a break from illustrating for whatever reason. In addition, the text at the bottom of the final chapter states that the next chapter release is undetermined. I’ve searched around on young ace, but there’s no sign of an update yet or an explanation. I’m sorry I can’t tell you more or give you a proper answer :(
