Summary:
Kaito finds Pandora but is shot out of the sky by the Organization. Upon awakening, Kaito discovers that Pandora is sentient and has saved him from death by making him Pandora's new vessel. Pandora then makes a simple deal with him. Pandora won't take over Kaito's consciousness or control him as long as Kaito seals away magical objects that have awakened once again due to the coming of the Volley Comet. Now immortal and unable to be permanently injured, Kaito repurposes KID into stealing magical items of all kinds using the power of Pandora. Except now he has three detectives and their friends chasing after him, determined to learn what happened the night KID was shot out of the sky and why he's shifted targets. Not to mention there may be more kinds of evil groups and creatures out there than just the Organization...and it's going to take all of Kaito's strength to adapt to his new world. Or, to put it in shorter terms: Kaito's world shatters and he and Pandora become roommates.

Hey Pandora, does the color of one's essence mean anything? Ie. is it random that yours is red and Kaito's is mostly white or is there something causing them to be most like those colors? If so, what?
Pandora: Ah, that is an excellent question.  I am made of pure magical essence and therefore can encompass all the colors of magic.  As for anything beyond that, I am afraid we are encroaching upon our spoilers rule and I cannot provide more information.  Our gratitude for the ask, we appreciate your support.
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask! There should be more on that eventually!

So that was a fun encounter between you and saguru at the flowershop! Why do you think he chose that specific shop? Think he heard about it thanks to your advertisement?
Kaito: I don’t think ‘fun’ is the word I’d use –
Pandora: I do not believe that was the question, vessel.
Kaito: Yeah yeah – I’m not sure, but if he heard about it due to the marketing campaign, it’s great that the advertising is working!
Pandora: Indeed.  Our gratitude for the ask, it was a good opportunity to remind my vessel of some of the good he does.
Kaito: Hey, I already know! And yeah, thanks for the ask!

So Kaito, what's life like with your roommate count upped to 2? Does Kwiiety's presence change much? do they like to cling to your shoulder ni their equivalent of a hug while you brainstorm ways to seal away stuff and beat your enemies?
Who do you plan to tell about them? out of everyone who is already accepted in your secret circle i mean
Kaito: Well Kwiiety just got here, so I’m not sure yet – they’re already very clingy though.
Pandora: I imagine that the questioner has an accurate idea of what Kwiiety will do while you are in the KID room, vessel.
Kaito: As long as they don’t touch anything – as for your other question, I’m only planning to tell Jii-chan. Telling anyone else about them would out me as KID.
Pandora: I suppose it is good you are willing to tell your assistant about them at least.
Kaito: What is that supposed to mean?
Pandora: Our gratitude for the ask, it was a useful opportunity to elaborate more on my vessel’s newest companion.
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask! Pandora what did you mean by that –

Pandora, now that you have promised not to cast spells as it's not essential, are you going to stop ensuring Kaito has nice dreams?
Pandora: I suppose I would raise the question on if such a thing is essential or not – but regardless, I ensure he has pleasant dreams by influencing his dreams, not by casting a spell, so it is not applicable.  It is, perhaps, a gray area in the terms of our general arrangement, but I believe such matters will be resolved at a later date.  My gratitude for the ask, it was a useful opportunity to clarify the terms of my agreement with my vessel.
Kaito: …Is there a reason I’m not allowed to see this ask?
Pandora: We have a no spoiler rule, you know that, vessel.
Kaito: Wait, it applies to me too?
Pandora: In some cases.
Kaito:
Kaito: Great.

To Kaito: If Pandora can see into your mind, can't you do the same to him? Or is this another thing you need to practice to be able to do it?
Kaito: Huh, that’s a similar question to the last ask –
Pandora: Indeed.  Perhaps such matters should be covered at a later date then.
Kaito: Wait what makes you say –
Pandora: Such matters will be covered at a later date.
Kaito: This is one of those things I’m not supposed to know yet, isn’t it?
Pandora: Our gratitude for the ask, I believe that such matters will be revealed eventually.
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask – how long do I have to wait, Pandora?
Pandora: …Patience is a virtue, vessel.
Kaito: …
Kaito: Tell me offscreen?
Pandora: No.
Kaito: Sighs

Hey Kaito, would it be less creepy that Pandora can read your thoughts if you could also read his?
Kaito: I guess so…but it’s more about the fact he’s reading them in the first place that’s creepy!
Pandora: To be honest with you vessel, it is not intentional most of the time.
Kaito: Most of the time?
Pandora: Our gratitude for the ask, it was a useful opportunity for my vessel to reflect on his feelings on the matter.
Kaito: Yeah thanks for the ask!  Pandy-chan, we’re not done here –

To Pandora: what is it that intrigues you about Hakuba Saguru? You seem to notice things Kaito doesn't, and you clearly have a different opinion on Hakuba in general.
To Kaito: now that it's proven that the syndicate's members can escape, or are bailed out, do you have a plan or an idea on how to get them arrested? Do you have an idea of how big the organization is?
To both of you: would you like a hug? It seems like you could use one (or several) after what happened.
Pandora: Hm…I think he could be a valuable resource.  His motivations are not the same as the rest, and that makes him intriguing.
Kaito: I’ve already said no – and is that really all there is to it?
Pandora: Even if there were something else, it is nothing I believe I should share right now, vessel.
Kaito: That’s not an answer –
Pandora: I believe you have your own question to answer, vessel.
Kaito: …We’re coming back to this later.  As for a plan – I just found out, I don’t even know how Snake escaped…I guess I’ll have to try to figure out that first, and plan from there.  I don’t know exactly how big the Organization is, but it’s big enough to remain undetected by police while still pulling off large operations, so it’s clearly not small.
Pandora: Merely focus on processing what happened right now, vessel.  It appears there is one last question to answer – ah.  I have no need for such an action, but I appreciate the sentiment towards my vessel.
Kaito: Sentiment towards – oh.  I’m fine, just…wasn’t expecting my night to go like that.  Thank you for the offer though!
Pandora: You deserve support vessel, you do not need to pretend to be all right – our gratitude for the ask, it was a useful opportunity to reflect on all that has just occurred.
Kaito: I’m not pretending – anyways, thanks for the ask!

to you, the author, i have 2 questions. I'd have asked them on ao3 when i commented but ao3 for some reason kept telling me my post couldn't be saved because they thought it was spam, first with my original post until i took out the questions to you and then the follow up post where i wanted to post the questions. Since i'm here you can guess i did not end up posting them there. So:
Would you like to talk about how much of the story in % or something you've written so far and roughly how much there is left? No exact numbers would be needed/expected, if you'd like to talk about it, I'm just interested :)
Is the lute by any chance based on the one from Crypt of the NecroDancer? They have similar concepts so i thought i'd ask. If not, great coincidence!
Thanks for posting the new chapter!
Hey there!  I’m not sure why that happened, but I’ll answer them here!
1. Oh goodness – only about half of what’s actually written out for Red Tinted Night is posted as I always try to stay several chapters ahead to ensure a regular update schedule.  As for the length of the finished fic – I have no idea how long it will be, and there are so many arcs that aren’t even close to being written yet – I’m not even confident enough to say a third of the fic has been written out (I am confident enough to say that Red Tinted Night will definitely end up being hundreds of thousands of words long, however).  So honestly, I have no idea how much is left, but that does mean Red Tinted Night won’t be ending anytime soon :)
2. It’s actually not!  It’s just an idea I’ve had for a while, I hadn’t even heard of that before – I’ll have to look it up, that is a great coincidence!
Thank you for reading and your questions! I’m so glad you’re enjoying the fic so far :D

say, kaito, did you ever find out what was going on when Conan chased you midair and tried to hit you with the knockout needle? Was there something going on that you didnt know about that wouldve made it more acceptable (like an ambulance nearby) or was Conan just out of his mind? Or would you rather just keep the entire incident in one of those mental boxes you can just forget about until you... uh, tell pandora you've had enough and to find another vessel so you can die?
Kaito: Wait, which time he tried to knock me out? He does that a lot –
Pandora: To be a bit meta – I believe the questioner is referring to the events of Magician of the Silver Sky.
Kaito: Oooh. Yeah, I have no clue if he had a plan or not, and I didn’t do any digging to find out.  I’ll admit I fell for his trick, but I certainly didn’t appreciate him taking advantage of the fact he knew I’d try to save him.  I do still enjoy the more friendly competition though.
Pandora: What he did was foolish and reckless.  Regardless of how frustrated he may have felt, it was no excuse to carelessly endanger your life and –
Kaito: Hey, hey, it’s fine – I got out just fine, and it’s really a testament to my skills that he would think he’d have to go that far to get one over me –
Pandora: That is certainly not how I see it.
Kaito: You have a very different way of seeing things – besides there was another question, it looks like –
Kaito:
Kaito: What the – what does that mean, I –
Pandora: Ah…perhaps you should not think too hard about that, vessel.  Our gratitude for the ask, it was a useful opportunity to reflect on my vessel’s past encounters.
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask…hey, I don’t box away my trauma!
Pandora:…Yes you do.  However perhaps you should focus on something else right now, vessel.  Our gratitude again for the ask.
Kaito:
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask!

hypothetically, right now, who would be your favourite/least favourite person (aside from family & enemies) to tell about your current situation, you two? Would your answer have been different back when you just encountered and got stuck with each other?
Kaito: Even hypothetically, no one.  I don’t want anyone getting involved more than they have to.  I would especially hate Meitantei and his friends finding out though, because they’re the hardest to predict.  As for when it first happened – I didn’t want to tell anyone then either, but Jii-chan really did deserve to know, so I guess I would have eventually told him.
Pandora: Interesting. To answer your question, I would support my vessel telling his classmate Hakuba Saguru about the situation, as he has shown himself to be a useful resource.  I would not advise my vessel to inform anyone about me if it risked causing him harm.  When I first made him my vessel, I did not know how trustworthy his classmate might be, so I would not have supported it as much as I do now.
Kaito: I’ve told you and told you, it’s not happening!
Pandora: Of course vessel.  Our gratitude for the ask, it was an interesting opportunity to reflect on our views about the situation.
Kaito: Yeah, thanks for the ask!
