NEW TRACKS: First Aid Kit, “Cedar Lane”
I first discovered this lovely Swedish duo several years ago when I was scrolling through Daytrotter sessions and thought the name, First Aid Kit, was super cool. Turns out, beyond having a stellar band name, they also have quite a knack for cranking out some quality folk tunes and it’s been a pleasure to watch how much they’ve come into the spotlight lately. With just enough country twang to still fall under Americana, the newest track “Cedar Lane” and its accompanying video are just gorgeous. “Cedar Lane” goes back to the essence of where First Aid Kit began, with slower paced and impassioned songs like “Ghost Town,” except now the vocals are even more refined. The track is from the gals’ upcoming (and highly anticipated) album, Stay Gold, set for release in June.

First Aid Kit will perform at the 9:30 Club on Thursday, June 12.

SIDE NOTES: Florence Welch Covering “Get Lucky," Stealing Our Hearts
Our girl Florence Welch not so subtly stopped by UK band Sourberry’s show and performed a cover of both Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” and Gossip’s “Standing in the Way of Control.” There are just so many things to love about this video. Despite her Florence + the Machine superstar status, she was not too proud to let loose dancing-wise in this small London club and even knocked back a few shots in the middle of serenading the crowd with “we’re up all night for good fun, we’re up all night to get lucky.” It doesn’t matter how many people she’s singing in front of, this lady knows how to put on a show. Florence, we adore you, the end.
