ok but volo's lil remark in masters about how 'you have to use them before they use you' is driving me insane. for the longest time i was like under the impression volo's disconnect from the rest of the people around him was like, at least Partially his own fault. like he pushed away most anyone that could maybe give him solace. he had no interest in actually being a apart of the gingko guild, his relationship with cogita is strained to say the Least. and like notably, literally every other main character is explicitly said to have some kind of home or family, be it in hisui or elsewhere. but volo had literally no one, n i always kinda interpreted it as him having the opportunity to better himself but actively choosing not to n instead just. go nuclear abt it.

but now im like. oh no actually, so someone Hurt you. Hurt hurt you. someone did Something to twist your worldview to the point where you think everyone is out to get you, and its strictly a dog eat dog world. but also you still want the world to be a better, happier place, and you're only Also participating in your made up dog eat dog world bc its the only way you believe you can survive. im fuking sobbinh, im throwing up, do you get it. do you get it.

Are you still making Julinemo fics? If so do you take requests for like fic ideas?

Hiya! I am currently on a writing hiatus, so I'm not doing any fanfic at all at the moment. I WILL return to writing in the future, but for now I have some pretty bad burnout so I gotta take care of myself first.

That said, I'm so glad you've enjoyed the fics, and I will definitely let folks know when I'm writing again! ^_^

every single time I use volo's sync move and he proudly proclaims 'BEHOLD' and then we hear togepi's little squeaky footsteps as it waddles forth, I laugh

how am I supposed to take him seriously as a villain. he's a ruin maniac and myth nerd and a proud egg mom

Got the next conversation with Volo in Masters Ex and kind of obsessed with it. As a summary, he invites Player to the [fake] ruins and talks about his reasons for studying myths and the past, wanting to know his path, and what the future holds, etc, waxing philosophical, asks Player what they think the future will be like. Then takes a photo with Player . . . to make a memento, a tangible piece of history. He says that we both may disappear one day, and that it would be nice to have a memento in that case; he also asks us to remember him as he is today.

Whoa. that was way more sentimental than I expected. I think it's pretty reasonable to look at his convos with Masters Ex Player as being similar to how he'd treat the player in Legends Arceus. Assuming we remind him of them. (It seems to be how other characters in Masters Ex treat the protag in Masters Ex, they constantly comment how they 'remind them' of the protags of other base games) If that is the case, then apparently he doesn't see the player as merely a tool to make use of, or as somebody to feel jealous over for being Arceus' favorite. He seems to have some sort of feelings of genuine fondness, enough to want a memento, so maybe that act of his wasn't 100% an act after all.

I think the easiest lies to tell are ones that have at least some truth in them. Maybe Volo's 'persona' is based on who he used to be, in the past, before he grew so bitter and so obsessed with seeking answers from Arceus. Maybe that's why he wants us to remember him as 'who he is' that day when we take a photo with him. It doesn't make much sense to me if he wanted us to remember him that way if it was a complete, 100% fiction. I suspect he wants us to 'remember him' that way because it represents some small, real piece of him that's untouched by sorrow and viciousness.
