I have been gathering parts to make some Ghibli dolls.

When I received the Jiji bank, I found it was waaay too big to go with the 1/4 imomodoll Kiki. But also the head comes right off.

So I did what I had to do, and put the head over a Shadow High Rexx. Now in my mind Jiji translates right into a cute lil chibi girl, but your mileage may vary. Try not to visualize the stupid Shadow High blobbed on abs under that sweet tiny dress. Maybe I'll try boyish styling another time.

Kiki awaits a good weather day to spray base layers. And then we wait. For my brain to say ok now I can try anime face drawing. Who knows how long that might take 😭

I have a half baked idea to print her face on plain paper and use graphite to sorta do a rubbing onto the head in the right general areas for a starting point.

This head is so small and round that it's gonna be hard for me to sort of fake the Ghibli face shape. But I would like to give it my best shot to look more show accurate, and not my personal style translation.

Oh and bonus close shot of the kitty embroidery on the pants' leg. Based on this pattern, embroidery with a single strand directly on the cotton fabric. Had to use a magnifying glass. My eyes were burning. Worth it !

Yep, the centaurs' dress first the Obitsu 11 body pretty well ! It's slightly too large and tends to poof up a little bit however (i'd suggest putting bloomers or undies with it...)

Also that dark grey looked too bland for me so I added some red highlights. I like it and it'll fit Carole's color scheme better now !

Ah, I forgot to show you guys how this little lady got refreshed !

Naked doll ahead ~

First of all, I removed all her clothes, her (very floppy) elastics, and her hair (which was hot glued on her head, and sewn/glued in the haircut). And then everything went into a vinegar/soap bath and got scrubbed clean !

The socks/shoed were glued on too, and sadly very very yellowed, so I trashed them. I left the panties and just removed some stray threads, since it was still rather clean-looking. Both shoulders were chipped, and I had the piece to repair the right one, but I couldn't find the left ones. Oh well, it's not visible under her clothes.

I made new socks and shoes (without glue this time !) out of thin tshirt scraps and black ribbons.

Here she is, with new elastic and hot-water boiled/straigthened hair (also removed any glue gunk leftover). Lots of strands fell off when I brushed it, but it clearly did wonder to its frizzy state !

I reused hot glue to attach the hair on the head (nothing less would let it stick to the porcelain). I liked her original haircut, instead of glue I simply used a sewing pin to keep it in place.

The vinegar bath also did wonders to get rid of the weird brown staining on her kimono and obi. I had to replace the water/vinegar twice due to how dirty it became during the whole process (porcelain, hair, clothes) !

And here is the final result, a proper tiny japanese lady !

Mayhaps I'll make her a second kimono at some point. Or try a different hairstyle ?

Found this little lady at the town's garage sale

Among the others big porcelain dolls with their usual lacy dress, she stood out and got my attention immediately !

She needs a little love (I'm unsure how to unfrizz that hair without damaging it) but for 1€ it's a cute little project <3

I've been eyeing these cutie centaurs for over a year, and finally decided to buy them as a late birthday/early christmas gift for myself during the 11/11 aliexpress promotions (didn't buy blind boxes since I wanted these two).

So. Adorable !!!

They're a bit bigger than I expected, but it's even better ; perfect size to fit in my Obitsu 11 shirts and accessories as seen here :D And it means the cute little dresses should fit my other dolls too !

I think the green shall be Liam, and the red Carole ~

My boy is done !!! Meet Big Louis ~ <3 I was blocked for so long because I feared making the wig, and when I started I despaired getting it to look how I wanted, but in the end I'm so happy with the result !!!

Now I can make him soooo may outfit. And perhaps gets started on his girlfriend :D

There's a cheap store close by that sometimes has mini diorama kits ; they're very cute ! This one is the coffee shop in a tin box <3
