Does anyone know if there is a similar term to 'post-concert depression' in Japanese?

I'm gonna reblog with some videos of people speaking various American Indian/indigenous American languages, because I think most people don't even know what they sound like. Not to be judgement of that—just, you know, I think people who want to be informed should know what they sound like!

Sincerely asking any mutuals of mine with larger platforms either here on tumblr or on other sites to plug that GFM to help it hit the goal now that it’s at the 80% mark, it’s so close but I don’t want it being so close to cause it to slow down if people start assuming it’s in the bag now and glossing over when every hour can be life or death in these circumstances. I ask you make your own post/tweet/whatever they call it on bsky and insta where I’m not present, you need not rb/rt me, or mention I asked or my one-artist hiatus, just plug it and encourage your audience to chip in, the help getting to them is all I care about

Today I learned about the following Japanese words
晴れ女 (はれおんな), a woman who causes the weather to become sunny when she goes out
晴れ男 (はれおとこ), a man who causes the weather to become sunny when he goes out
雨女 (あめおんな), a woman whose presence causes rain
雨男 (あめおとこ), a man whose presence causes rain
I decided to create a fifth one:
天気の友 (てんきのとも), your nonbinary friend who is always prepared for whatever weather they might face. Rain coat, mittens, zip-off pants, you name it. They're prepared.
For illustrative purposes:

have you all heard of 猫ミーム (lit. cat meme)? it was a big meme video format on japanese youtube a few months back and they're very silly but i think they're genuinely good reading practice.
basically the meme is that they take these stock tiktok cat footage and turn it into a story about their day or something that happened to them. there's no talking but they put words across the screen to show what's going on. some are definitely more unhinged than others but it's a really cool look into daily life in japan that's told in a funny way imo.
here's a screenshot of one of the videos for an idea of what it looks like:
Tumblr media
aaaanyway here's some of my favorite ones:
【ADHD】大学中退した話 - the time I dropped midway through my college semester (ADHD)
修学旅行でインドに行った話 - the time I went to India for a school trip
Uber eats配達員を始めてみた話 - the time I tried starting work as an uber eats delivery person
深夜コンビニの闇 - the dark side of late night convenience stores
牛角で1人焼肉をした何気ない話 - the mundane story about when i did solo yakiniku at Gyuukaku (<- name of the restaurant)
honestly go check out that last person's whole channel they go eat at a bunch of different places and do 猫ミーム videos of it and it's cool seeing the food

The first day of my personalised week long Japanese language challenge is done.
1) Play an hour of a video game.
I may have played more than just an an hour of Stardew Valley. I couldn't help it, man. It's one of those games that when you start you can't stop and the next thing you know it's five days later, your wife's left you and you can't even remember your name anymore.
2) Read a chapter of a manga.
Read a few chapters of Chi's Sweet Home and it is by far one of the better manga out there to read for beginners. It's centered around a kitten and her family and the every day shenanigans they get up to. It's very easy to fellow and there aren't massive walls of text every other page like some series. I plan on reading more and making a more in depth post on it.
3) Watch a video on YouTube with no English subtitles.
I may have just watched a bunch of nursery rhyme videos. Honestly, not a bad way to learn. They're catchy and simple.
4) Read a graded reader/book aimed at young children.
One of my favourite graded reader sites is tadoku.org. They go from level zero to five with zero being the easiest. Today  I decided to upgrade from zero to one and read a short story called Boku no Kazoku. It's about a teddy bear and his family and it was hecking adorable.
5) Make a post on HelloTalk.
Made a simple post saying I had school tomorrow and about how old I am (I'm a  thirty year old student help) and no one has corrected it yet so I'm assuming it was right. People on HelloTalk are usually pretty quick about correcting mistakes. It's why I like it so much.

I regret to inform you that Discord's new Terms of Service includes an arbitration clause. You can find it here https://discord.com/terms/#16. This clause includes an opt-out, which I have transcribed here:
You can decline this agreement to arbitrate by emailing an opt-out notice to [email protected] within 30 days of April 15, 2024 or when you first register your Discord account, whichever is later; otherwise, you shall be bound to arbitrate disputes in accordance with the terms of these paragraphs. If you opt out of these arbitration provisions, Discord also will not be bound by them.
These clauses are underhanded ways that corporations seek to deprive you of your right to participate in class-action lawsuits and your right to a jury trial. (This does only apply to us users ,other people still spread the word though )

I love how sometimes I can't remember very basic vocab I have seen a million times already in Japanese and yesterday I casually threw out 美大 (びだい short for art uni) and ぶつかる (hitting one's head; should have used ぶつける but that's beside the point) and I haven't seen either in literal years

language learning is such a personal thing that there is no “right” or “wrong” way of doing it. it’s whatever works on bringing YOU closer to YOUR goal.
you want to watch tv shows but don’t really care for speaking with others? yay!! no speaking practice needed.
you want to learn quickly for an upcoming trip? yay! text book phrases and simple grammar.
you’re a beginner and it’s been 10 years? 2 weeks? 6 months? it doesn’t matter. as long as you are working towards bringing YOURSELF closer to what YOU want to achieve, you have succeeded: you are succeeding; you are doing great.
i find that so much demotivation comes from comparison and/or trying to follow other's advice too closely. if anki decks don't work for you, that's fine! if duolingo works well for you, then use it!
this language learning thing, it should be enjoyed. in the sea full of deceptive polyglot stories and videos on top of videos attempting to understand how to learn languages in "the fastest way possible" sometimes we should sit back and ask ourselves, "when is just learning things, enough"?
with that i hope you all continue working towards your dreams! whether you want to become a translator or just watch a few more movies in your target language, you can do it. i know you have it in you.

So you know "bičiulis" in Lithuanian means "best friend"? and it is literally translated as "bee friend"?
Its English equivalent would be
Beestie.

I am thinking about reaching out to the woman who offered me to decorate a display window about Japan in my hometown again and accept the offer
On the other hand I am uncertain about so many things. Should I focus on one area? If yes, which one? I have many things I would like to share with others. Or should I do a bit about everything and not go too into depth? Food would be easiest because I feel it is the most accessible since it is such a prevalent part in life

Look, I knew five languages by age 19 and now I am learning like 3 more. I work as a language instructor and a consultant. If I can give language learners only one advice, this is it.
STOP LEARNING WORDS ON THEIR OWN.
You're doing yourself a disservice by learning lists of "30 words you must know!" "100 most common words!" like it literally means nothing if you cannot use those words in an appropriate context with proper grammar. So what you actually need to do is learn those words via example sentences.
Of course, sentences have more words so you may think you're learning less but you're actually learning the way to use it in context. That's what's important.
Language is about communication, which also means if you want to learn languages, you have to observe how people communicate with each other universally. Native speakers never have a list of words they know and they don't count every single new word they've learned. So why are you doing it to yourself? What native speakers do is listen to the new word, remember the context they're spoken in, and keep using that word in that context. And that's why people go "wait, you can use that word LIKE THAT?" all the time. So you, a language learner, are also allowed to do that. I'm not even saying those word lists are useless but they're the most useful AFTER you've known most of them and are trying to go over them for practice etc. Native speakers do click on those word lists to check out how many words they don't know or to remind themselves of those words or to learn some facts about each word. That should be your goal as well.
Learn sentences. Learn them in context. Do not fall into the "I must know xx amount of words or I'm a failure at language learning" trap perpetuated by bloggers or youtubers or whatever. Have fun with it!
