Don't worry, I'm not the same stripling you met in Little Ala Mhigo. I've prepared myself to fight the evil I now know is out there.

Jethrault's affliction
Using FFXIV's lore, I imagined Jethrault's disorder. Since the inhabitants of AEterys live off the aether in their bodies, and aether potions exist, it's theoretically possible to live off it. Theoretically, because there are side effects, and the life of a person living on aether alone is difficult.
You don't really get used to the taste of the potions, and most people only stay on the diet for a few days to a few months, to avoid nausea, dizziness or the difficulty of managing your aether needs according to your activity, as well as the loss of body mass. And with no reserves in the body, the risk of discomfort or coma increases tenfold.
Tumblr media
But for Jethrault, these effects are minimal compared to the idea of touching food. He began this strange diet in his mid-teens and has adapted to it, for better or worse. His uncommon powers of calculation have protected him from bouts of withdrawal. Those who don't know him won't suspect his disorder, except that he's very thin, even for an elezen. As a WoL, his body is much stronger than that of a normal human, and for a long time, this was perfectly bearable. His kitchen is never used and is purely decorative ! But...
Tumblr media
But with the adventures and challenges that followed, Jethrault felt the ill effects of potions more frequently, both when he took them and when he didn't. What's more, the Scions have often urged him to stop, causing much disruption to his diet. Yet he remains unable to change his lifestyle, and for what little he suffers, he's still content.

Jethrault can't stand the touch of any insect. He hates them so much ! He likes spiders because they eat insects. He was so taken by surprise by his first encounter with a stick insect (phasme) he jumped an ran !
it has been an AWFULLY long week. let’s liven things up?
share your favourite, most random, wild, out-of-nowhere headcanon about your WoL/OC?
i would love to hear them  🥺

Jethrault has long had scars on his face, and always says he received them in a naval battle. In reality, he received one when he proved his determination to his mother, and the other during a battle in a Coeurl-infested ruin.
Tumblr media
He also has many more scars on his body since joining the Scions, none really particular, but they all left their mark. Jethrault may be a healer, but he never looks after himself properly. Even less so during the all-too-many periods of crisis. He can hardly find the time to take his mind off things as it is.
greetings - I have another wol question for you tonight, should you choose to except it
does your wol/oc have any major scars?
what are they from? was it an msq event? something from childhood? was it a particularly traumatic event or was it downright embarrassing? does it still hurt?

Hey, guys, do you think Urianger, Thancred, Papalymo and Fourchenault got along well when they were young, even as children ?
Since they all lived in Sharlayan... I couldn't find a thing but I can't stop thinking about that !
Do you think they shared some common anecdotes ? Or ressent each other ?

"Shitty weather..."
"Oooh ! Bad mood, lil'princess?"
"Fuck off."
"Nah, you haven't finished your last punishment, kid. Now c'mere. Food doesn't make itself. And don't forget to taste it this time !"
"Still a pain in the ass, huh?"
As a child, Jethrault was often punished by helping the ship's cook prepare food. One stormy day, the cook disappeared during this time. The kid didn't say anything, claiming he went out and didn't come back, but he was neither surprised nor saddened by the old man's disappearance. He was declared dead since then. Despite this, Jethrault still hates food, he still cuts his hair short, and he's still moody and speaks to himself on stormy nights.

Jethrault is punctual, and he can be very organised. However, he may decide to skip meetings, sometimes without notice. He tries to keep things formal by providing an excuse, or replacing said meeting with prior correspondence, but for those he considers unnecessary or repetitive, he often decides not to show up at all.
He wouldn't misbehave in front of diplomats and prefers providing excuses for absence than worsen a delicate situation through bad attitude.

Is your WoL punctual? Do they have a good sense of time? Do they need a clock/chronometer?

Goldsmith and alchemist ! Since Jethrault steals many relics or treasures, he often replicate them to fool archaeologists ! It's also a way to earn more money by selling jewelry !
Plus his need/addiction to potions and his scholar's studies brought him to master alchemy, in order to brew better potions and create his own codex.
He also fishes, but purely as a hobby. And he cooks but absolutely hates it. Yet his cooking is the only one he can eat without vomiting, and only if it's freshly cooked.
He has been doing these jobs since his teens and each skill was taught to him by one of his fathers, except the culinarian which was taught by a long-dead chef of his mother's ship.
i am grumpy and hungry so i bring you a wol question
does your wol/oc have a canon crafting/gathering job?
we all have our combat classes, of course, but is there a particular crafting or gathering job they vibe with? is it a hobby or perhaps a source of income for them? was it something they picked up prior to msq? and, for some bonus points, is there one crafter/gatherer they just cant stand?

Jethrault have many smells around him.
He smells nice in his good little hero outfit, something like mint and wood perfume. His frequent consumption of aether potions gives off a tickling odor and taste, too.
He stinks blood after battle. If he just returns, you can perceive sweat too, but he hates this smell and will promptly wash himself. Blood scent remains as well as aether and medical scent if he was severely injured.
On his days "off" (when he runs from his duty), he often smells booze and smoke. Sometimes, it's melted with dirt stinks if he went in fight rings, or sea water if he went to his relatives, or old books, metals, and stronger aether scents if he studied his arcanes. It's not good if there are hints of the three smells together. It is worse if Selene is summoned, although he's not in mission. That's often means he is as tired as when he left, and he probably fought and experimented in the meantime.
hey you! its good to see you! I have a silly little wol question for ya!
what does your wol/oc smell like?
is it a perfume or cologne? perhaps the lingering smells of a hobby or battle? perhaps a specific flower? or maybe they just really smell like that old bottle of midnight pomegranate body spray you got from bath and body works back in 2010?
