resurrection
Wen Qing makes it out of Jinlintai alive. From this moment on, she tries to save Wen Ning. But something goes terribly wrong. And suddenly, there’s Gu Xiang.
this is the very first idea i had for this project. back when I saw the prompts for the first time, I wondered how you could pull off a crossover. well, luckily I didn’t have to choose - I only watched one more historical drama and that’s cql. it made sense to pick someone from this universe and that’s what I did.
the story kept growing and growing and for a while, I considered focusing on that story only, leaving the other prompts aside. well, you can tell that this didn’t work out 😅 so here it is. the beginning of a journey - the beginning of wen qing’s journey who just wants to be with her brother again but ends up with gu xiang instead.
this is day five of the @shlwomenweek! today’s prompt is “crossover”.

royal obligations
As a princess, Gao Xiaolian has certain obligations. But oh, how nice it would be to just drop them to be with Gu Xiang?
here we are. a royalty au. and oof, it fits these two so well! after all, gao xiaolian is kind of a princess already.
today’s story will have two chapters. once more, the story kept growing, but now, it became too much. I’ll post the second chapter in a few days!
this is day five of the @shlwomenweek!

SHL WOMEN WEEK DAY 5 - Rusted Blades
Her Father’s Sword, Gao Xiaolian, G, no content warnings.
Also on AO3.
__
Gao Xiaolian picked up her father’s blade.  There was a small patch of rust on the edge after so many years of disuse.  She tested the weight and realized her memories of opening her father’s coffin to reveal what remained of his body had not faded.  Against the pleas of her uncles, she forced herself to look, and then she held on to that despair until it built into a rage so deep she could not let it go until long after her revenge was complete.  Deng Kuan could only teach her to channel it into a sword, until her power elevated Yueyang to glorious heights again.
But Gao Xiaolian had never wielded her father’s sword in all those long years, had never felt worthy, until now, with her hair streaked gray and her knobbed fingers reshaped to the grip of a hilt.  Harboring a calm she had not felt since childhood, Gao Xiaolian hefted the blade and met the enemies at her door head on.

taking off
When Liu Qianqiao agreed to fix the coffee machine after work, she just wanted to be nice. Well, Du Pusa wants something else.
this was one of the first plots i had in mind for this project. apparently, they really needed an office romance… :D
this is day four of the @shlwomenweek! today’s prompt is “freshly-ironed shirts”.

[ID A soft blue digital drawing of Gu Xiang and Cao Weining in the rain. Gu Xiang stands in the foreground, highlighted in soft pink and lavender. She smiles up at the sky holding out her cupped hands. The light rain collects in her palms. Cao Weining is rendered in soft blues and stands on the left, slightly farther back, smiling at her while also collecting water in his hands. End ID]
SHL WOMEN WEEK DAY 3 - Petrichor
Art by @cinziq, words by @owlpockets. Rivulets, Cao Weining/Gu Xiang, T, content warning for descriptions of corpses.
__
The rain outside the Ghost Valley smelled different. Smoother, earthier, like it might be good for Gu Xiang to open her mouth and catch it on her tongue when she was thirsty, though she dared not try. At home, the rain used to carry a metallic sting into her nose and in her throat as it wetted dried filth along the paths between the houses. No one ever cleaned up after themselves in the Valley in those days. One of her first memories from when she was very small was of clutching Aunt Luo’s hand, as the rain poured down suddenly on a body that had been sitting too long in the lower boughs of a tree. Rivulets of brown liquid streamed down along the bark. Gu Xiang didn’t remember anything else about that day.
Gu Xiang walked out into the rain, heart in her throat as she watched Cao Weining catch some water in his hand and slurp it into his mouth with satisfaction. She put her hand out in imitation and licked the drops off her palm, finding nothing but the sensation of clean water on her tongue and the taste of her own skin as Weining turned to meet her surprised grin.

the last dance
Losing Gu Miaomiao once again breaks Luo Fumeng’s heart. But this time, she needs to stay strong.
pairing: Luo Fumeng/Gu Miaomiao
oof. wow. there’s quite some potential hidden in this drama. when i looked at @wendashanren‘s list of female characters in the drama (go check out her stuff, she’s taking part in the shl women week too! \o/), i wondered if there’s a way to write something about wen kexing’s mom. she doesn’t get a lot of screentime after all - and when she does, she’s surrounded by men. also, most of the women are younger than her. except for… luo fumeng. and there could even be a way to bring them together in a canon divergent setting without changing a lot… 👀 i decided to go with a modern au, though.
this is day three of the @shlwomenweek! today’s prompt is “petrichor”.

[ID A deep magenta image with dark, sketchy lines depicts two women in an embrace. Du Pusa, her chest bound and wearing simple pants and her hair swept up in a masculine style, leans over Qiao Luohan, clothed in flowing, pale pinks, pulling her close with one arm, her hand gripping the other woman’s butt. Du Pusa’s other hand holds Qiao Luohan’s chin as both women smile and look through heavy-lidded eyes at each other. End ID]
SHL WOMEN WEEK DAY 2 - Cherry Blossom
Art by @cinziq, words by @owlpockets. Blossom Silk, Du Pusa/Qiao Luohan, T, no content warnings.
__
The color of the silk was pale cherry blossom, and Du Pusa hated it the instant she laid eyes on the delicate drape over Qiao Luohan’s shoulders.  The woman was made to be a shadow under the moon, not the frail, simpering noblewoman she looked now.  “That’s awful.  Didn’t they have anything in a less floral color?”
“We’re supposed to be in disguise,” Qiao Luohan reminded her.
“I’d rather not,” Du Pusa sighed as she adjusted the uncomfortable binding across her chest.  “Why do I have to be the man?”
“Oh come on, isn’t this a little fun?”  Qiao Luohan leaned in and pressed herself all up and down Du Pusa’s side, floating a pink sleeve across her cheek.  The silk was wonderfully cool on her skin. “It doesn’t give you any ideas?”
Du Pusa considered this.  “Maybe one,” she mused, grabbing Qiao Luohan by her tiny waist while sliding a hand down over her rump.  “I’ll tell you about it after the mission, if you behave.”
“I told you, last time was an accident—“
“He woke up the entire house screaming.”  Du Pusa laughed as Qiao Luohan rolled her eyes and allowed herself to be crushed close.
