imo the multiverse in EEAAO is such a perfect metaphor for some very specific types of asian american immigrant trauma that hit so close to homeā¦ on the one hand, evelyn is leaping into all these universes, even the absurd ones, and thinkingā¦ these are all people i could have been, lives i could have lived, i could have Been Someone but instead iām only just evelyn. sheās an exceptional person with so many talents and passions back home, and then she came over to the states to be taken for granted and cut down by everyone around her into a stereotype and a nobody. but even as the film is recognizing all the abandoned dreams of immigrant mothers, at the same time, for Jobu tupaki, each universe isnāt something new she could have been, itās something she HAD to be, even if she didnāt want to. her mother pushed her past her limit and she was forced to be every single version of herself at the same timeā¦ people she didnāt want to be, things sheās not cut out for, to the point where she wants to blow it all up and be nothing at all. it really nails imo a pretty common 2nd gen experience of feeling like you have to be perfect at everything and live out all your parents dreams for them for so long that eventually you snap and look back on everything you used to be and thinkā¦ that was fucking bullshit. that was pointless, none of this fucking matters. and then the only thing that can save you from the nihilism is your mother telling you āall those absurd things you used to be donāt matter to me, all i need you to be is youāĀ
Misha is a world champion & olympic champion material and I can't wait for him to prove it by claiming the titles. Switching to Mishin clearly is letting him thrive and God, that's what he deserves.
The best quad Lutz in figure skating is BACK! Itās not only back but itās in combination, 4Lutz-3Toe, something I had never seen before from Mikhail Kolyada. If Mikhail can get a solid quad Lutz he is going to be very competitive.
...to the new people watching Legend of Korra, I've seen a lot of posts that are kind of...problematic.
Korra and Asami a both bisexual. This has been made clear by the creators (or a creator).
(Look at those pretty Bisexual Flag colors!)
So if you all could kindly stop erasing their bisexuality, that would be awesome.
No, Korra and Asami aren't dating Mako as a beard. Both of them genuinely find him attractive and like him. Their relationships and attraction to him were planned from the beginning. Their relationship and attraction to each other didn't start really and truely forming, even for the creators, until Book 3.
They had genuine and loving relationships with both a man and a woman.
No Asami isn't pretending to be hetero in Book 1 and 2. She's bisexual in all the books.
The same for Korra.
They are not lesbians. They have never been lesbians. They were not written as lesbians.
This isn't up for debate. You will not take canon representation from bisexual people.
If you want a canon lesbian from LoK Kya is right there but Korra and Asami (and Kyoshi) are bisexual and you will NOT erase that.
From Bryan Konietzko himself (Korrasami is Canon):
