I'm honestly so nervous about the finale of Bad Batch, because they almost have to lose.
Project Necromancer was a success (mostly). That's why Episode IX happened. Which means that regardless of whatever happy ending we hope for, there's a very real chance Omega doesn't make it out of that facility.
There's also an infinitesimally small chance we end up seeing Grogu at some point, considering he was captured by the Empire for this very purpose. Perhaps, if there is a spin-off like people are guessing, this is the direction it'll go? Them both being involved in the same project is too much for them not to be comingled at some point. I mean come on, this is Star Wars for crying out loud. Everyone's connected together.
I also don't think any of the clones are going to make it, unfortunately, especially Echo. He would be with Rex in "Rebels" if he lived, and the Batch would have made appearances as well, though I could see them going off on separate adventures. So maybe they live, but it doesn't seem likely in my pessimistic opinion.
I genuinely hope I'm wrong on all my guesses, and everyone lives and has wonderful lives from here on out. But let's just say I have a bad feeling about this...

Good news! He took them all and got them adopted out. He kept the first one and named him Scout. I think he kept a couple more of them too, but I'm not sure. Here's a link to an update video shortly after the rescue:

I honestly don't know how to feel about The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents. Oh, the story itself was well-told, and the characters were well-written, but it felt a bit... I dunno, horrifying. I'm not a fan of running scams, and the secrets under the town filled me with dread.
All in all, I'm glad I read it, and I'm glad to be moving on. Pratchett did too good of a job showing the life of rats.
(as a bonus, cameos of Colon and Knobby-esque characters named Doppelpunkt and Knopf, respectively, made me laugh out loud).
Up next, Night Watch!

The Last Hero is incredibly bittersweet. I had to purchase it separately from the rest of the collection, and I'm really grateful to have a physical copy.
So many different arcs converge in the tale, and seeing Rincewind, Carrot, and Leonard da Quirm journey together on what is effectively a space ship was a lovely treat. And of course, Cohen and Co. are always fun.
If I had any critiques, it would be that the illustrator's depiction of the Librarian will haunt my memory forever, and that Vetinari seemed kinda out of character from the previous books. But these are super mild and don't take away from the story at all.
Next up, we visit with The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents!

Saw a sibling poll and needed to expand it because I fit, like. Mid youngest, youngest in theory only child in practice, and adopted. And I think they all have their own unique parts in the sibling ecosystem.

My book's got you. While there is one character with a romance plot, the other has no romance at all. Whether they are aro or not is up to interpretation, and either way is welcome!
Another kind of diversity we need in writing is protagonists without love interests. Give me adults with full-fledged stories that don't include falling in love.

Thief of Time is a story that just sang to me. Playing with time has always been one of my favorite story elements, and this book offered a really fun approach to it.
Some things I noticed in the story:
There is no way the name Jeremy Clockson isn't intentional. I'm not sure of the release year, but surely "Top Gear" or one of its predecessors was out by then.
You can tell Pratchett is really enjoying writing Igors in this phase of the series, and I really enjoy reading about them. He does a great job of putting the voice in your head with his spelling, and my mental image will always be Eye-gor from "Young Frankenstein":

I also like that Miss Susan has been given the dark Miss Frizzle treatment as a teacher. It suits her, and I'm sure there's some kind of fanfic where the two of them going on adventures together.
It's also nice to see a Nanny Ogg cameo in the Death arc, especially as Death nearly always pays a visit in the witches arc.
Oh, and Qu as a fun analog for James Bond's Q was a nice touch, too.
And don't even get me started on Lobsang and Lu-Tze. I could read an entire series on them alone (and it was nice to see Lu-Tze's return and have him be the focus instead of a background character!)
And finally, as an auditor in my day to day life, I find it really funny how they're the Big Bad of the Discworld universe. I've known some colleagues who could absolutely fit the bill. As for me, I'm probably more like Unity...
All in all, this might be my new favorite so far; if not, it's top 2. Next up, we move on to The Last Hero!

Upon this rereading of the Discworld series, I think the books I've appreciated more than expected are the ones with the one-off characters involved with the dangerous advancement of technology. Having just finished The Truth, both it and Moving Pictures are currently bright spots in the series for me.
As someone who has dabbled in journalism in the past, feeling the itch to find a story is a sensation close to my heart. Pratchett did a good job of developing the tech and wrapping it around a fun mystery to be cracked.
Also, Mr. Tulip's usage of "—ing" as a placeholder swear and having people comment on it might be one of my favorite bits of humor so far.
Next in the series is Thief of Time!

Just wrapped up The Fifth Elephant. I don't have any recollection of reading this one in the past, and I'm honestly not sure if I'm sad or glad for that. I was expecting a parody of "The Fifth Element", but it seems to have gone on a very different track (admittedly, I only saw the movie once over a decade ago, so it could still be a parody and I wouldn't know...).
It was cool to see how far Vimes has come in his arc so far, and to see a bit of Angua's home country. It's also our first view of the all-important clacks system.
But mostly, I kept thinking about dwarf women, and Aragorn going "it's the beards" like this:

All in all, I'm happy for all the couples in this. Now, onto The Truth, which I actually read just a couple of years ago. It'll be cool to read it again in context this time!
