                                ❛    NO NO ,  NO !   DO NOT BLAME YOURSELF FOR THIS ,  YOU COULD NOT HAVE DONE ANYTHING .   IT WAS  IN THE MOMENT  FEAR ,  I DO NOT FAULT YOU FOR SEEKING SELF PRESERVATION .    ❜      it would’ve been nice if anyone  HAD  been saved ,  but as the supposed law enforcer of snowdin town ,  papyrus saw that this was now on  HIS  shoulders .   hands fall from the troubled human ,  allowing space between them as not to continually overwhelm them  &&.  invade personal boundaries .

                                ❛    DO YOU REMEMBER ANYTHING ,  ANYTHING AT ALL ?   WHAT THIS PERSON LOOKED LIKE ,  A GENERAL HEIGHT ?    ❜      any instance of comparison would aid him in finding this culprit ,  this .   .   .   genocidal sociopath killing monsters .   oh ,  he hoped undyne had received word of things already .   maybe he needed to report in ?

*     IT’S  EXHILARATING;    THAT  MOMENT  WHEN  BLADE  MEETS  BEING.    THAT  VERY  SPLIT  SECOND  OF  SHOCK  UPON  REALIZING  WHAT’S  JUST  HAPPENED.    ALL  OF  IT  WASHES  OVER  THEM,  AND  A  STRANGE  SENSE  OF  COMPLETE  AND  UTTER  ECSTASY  FILLS  THEM  TO  THE  VERY  TIP  OF  THEIR  FINGERS.    LIPS  CURL  UNTIL  THEY’RE  GRINNING,  SHAKY  BREATHS  LEAVING  THEM  AS  THEIR  BODY  EXPERIENCES  A  WAVE  OF  POWER.

              it was odd ,  hearing the crunch of what could’ve been tree bark  -  branch  -  maybe even bone ?   the quiet of snowdin’s outskirts grow eerie ,  silence filling the voidness of company .   crowds have been thinning around the snowy village ,  even if the busy bustle have been meaning to pick up .   head turns as the shambling of someone familiar tugs his attention ,  sockets wide as he spots them .   covered in snow powder ,  they sniffle  &&.  sob ,  the skeleton perking instinctively to try emotional support .

                                ❛    HEY ,   HEY !   TAKE A BREATH ,  HUMAN .   THE GREAT PAPYRUS IS HERE TO HELP .    ❜      down he kneels ,  hands extended out to cusp shoulders  &&.  reign them in .   something brushes mittens ,  falls like ash as its swept off ,  a sight that chills papyrus to the marrow .   was that .   .   .   ?

              no ,  it couldn’t be .   chara wasn’t capable of harming others ,  right ?

              right ?   .   .   .

              arms close around them as he hugs them to his chest ,  a quake to his voice as doubt settles in his mind briefly ,  shaken off by the warmth of the embrace .      ❛    DO NOT BE AFRAID ,  FOR I WILL CRUSH THESE ANXIETIES MYSELF ,  MARK MY WORDS !    ❜

sans grin had yet to be fazed looking at his brothers flamboyancy as they were ecstatic of his gift that unexpectedly he bequeathed, however upon looking at his brothers current expression he couldn’t help but say some jizzer-jazzer about it.

* aw, how sweet of you to say that y’know? hey you should *tuck in your socks* for the next one i have really. it’s pretty big.

sans had honestly thought this to be an more of an exuberant gift for him in his mind than anything else though, he was only being sarcastic about this thought in mind as anything else could’ve not given his hopes up like this.

he was in for it now, maybe? i dunno but the bar was nearly hitting the dead end point that could lead him to being kicked out of the house.

              marrow boils ,  viscera steaming within calcium clad physique ,  the renowned snowdin town savior furling fingers in to crumple the cardboard box the accessory had come in .  fitful tears mist his sockets ,  a torn emotional turmoil between hotfooted anger  &&.  utter betrayal churning under battle body .   his  SOUL  trembles ,  aches in that moment he realizes his brother has played him for a fool ,  that his own overexcitement cast too much hope upon a clearly laid trap  .   .   .  

                                ❛    I -    ❜      stutters free ,  breathy  &&.  sounding hurt .   teeth clack together ,  grit to stop a painful hiccup of tears beginning their trail down his cheekbones ,  of papyrus’s foolish gullibility once again getting the better of him .      ❛    YES ,  UM .   TH -  THANK YOU ,  BROTHER ,  FOR FINALLY PICKING UP YOUR SOCK !   THIS ,  HM .   --  IS  DEFINITELY PROGRESS .    ❜

              dejected hands close the box ,  hesitate with it now on his weight ,  of once again carrying both of their responsibilities by himself .   in hovers the box near his waist ,  simply held aloft over his towering stead .   he wants to properly thank his brother ,  reward him for actively heeding some form of respect for papyrus’s wishes ,  yet is swallowed down by the dread of giving praise for belittling him  --  for  dashing his hopes  of a charitable gesture .

              of receiving a gift outside of  GYFTMAS .

max ,  you’ve had this a  long time  coming .   back when i first found you  &&.  sam over in the f/nf community ,  i was elated that two ppl i looked up to wanted to become more than just mutuals  --  like actual friends .   when we had our first call ,  it was  CHAOS ,  &&.  yeah we’ve had our fair share of hiccups ,  but  GOD  i wouldn’t trade our nearly half a year  ( ? )  of friendship for anything .   sure we have our moments of feeling down in the dumps ,  but istg you’re   [ THE ]   person i turn to when times get tough  &&.  i need a shred of positivity .
